1 Why they print this nonsense escapes me. The asteroid has a 0.41% chance of hitting our planet (99.6% chance it will miss) and it's too small to do any damage if it does hit. They are also repeatedly printing utter crap about the damage that Yellowstone volcano might do if it explodes in a super eruption, which it might do about a million years from now. The stupidity is beyond comprehension.

2 It's why people have been losing trust in establishment science Bill. It clearly is manipulated to frighten people and promote things having nothing to do with science.

Tyson knows the lack of danger here. This thing isn't even remotely a threat to us. He knows that. So why make a fuss?

Michael Crichton pointed out the Ruling Class uses fear to manipulate and control the populace. They have to keep cranking out new existential threats to keep people frightened and allow them to take actions to "save" us. But at some point the population will get wise to this - or just tired of it.
