The Big Apple has had some great mayors -- and some lousy ones: Lindsey springs to mind -- and when I was working there, Dave Dinkins was trying but failing. I can't remember that people were peeing on the buildings in the part of town where I worked, but they were elsewhere. Still, New York under Dinkins was a sight better than Los Angeles under Garcetti.

I remember Dinkins Dana. He was a dullard but not a terrible guy, like the D Blas.

Right. Dinkins wasn't evil, like De Blasio. I just wish I'd been working in the Apple when either Ed Koch or Rudy Giuliani was running the show.
