Davey Crockett - Constitutionalist

Dana Mathewson

If those toadies who populate Congress had kept to the standards set by Davy Crockett, who stood by the ideas of the Founders and refused to support a push to fund a widow (I believe it was) of a military hero (wasn't it) out of public funds, saying in effect "I have no problem with our opening our own pockets to donate to her, but there is nothing in the Constitution to support giving her anything from the budget." Democrats castigated him for being hard-hearted even then. It's always about the money.
