The Conference Board said its consumer confidence index increased to 91.7 this month from an upwardly revised 84.2 in September.
The question is, was consumer confidence being reported intentionally as low to damage Trump and the GOP? Like all polls, we suddenly find a surge in confidence just before the election. Color me skeptical.
There is all kinds of good economic news. Yes, the price of gas is a big issue, and everyone wanted there to be deflation, to have prices drop, something that just wasn't happening. Wages need to increase. Deflation is a terribly destructive thing, but few understand it since we haven't had deflation since the early days of the 20th century. But if we can get wages rising (and they are) inflated prices will be more affordable.
I think the Democrats are going to suffer in this upcoming election - no blue wave. Hopefully no wave at all. Let us pray it is so.
