An author at Townhall takes a stab at why so many young people are jumping on the Commie Crazy train.

He makes some good points. He argues young people explore and often challenge the status quo.

I think this author misses the point on a lot of this though. First, the young - and college kids are teenagers, by and large - are rebellious and they know their elders hated Communisms so they are embracing it to shock and offend the more mature in society. It's happened all the time through history. And adopting "radical chic" is also nothing new. When I was a teen myself people used to go around wearing Che Guevara tee shirts, and talked about how cool the old commie was. (There is nothing cool about any communist.) There was always a contingent in colleges that loved them some Bolsheviks. They liked wearing the red scarves and shouting slogans and pretending they were somehow making the world a better place.

This is just more teen rebellion, and twenty-something rebellion. The twenty-somethings are more about free stuff and being able to loaf around; they don't necessarily care about radical chic as they do about getting what they want out of life without working for it. And they have been taught all their lives that stuff should be free, that there should be no merit-based system of rewards. You suck at baseball? You get a trophy anyway. We've been whittling down the old way of doing things, the rewards-based system, for decades and is it any wonder young people now think everything should be free?

And they've been maleducated, being taught that capitalism is just a bunch of greedy guys stealing what should be theirs. No mention of the how stuff gets made and by whom. It just appears magically, like leaves on trees after a long winter.

Back in the mid two thousands there was a t.v. show called Jerico, about a small town in western Kansas near the Colorado border. There is a terrorist attack on the U.S. and 26 cities get nuked, leading to absolute chaos. The town is struggling to survive. To get to the point there is a deaf girl, one of the main characters, who is dating this very dumb skateboard dude. He says the key is to get the internet up and running, that that's all they need. when the girl asks him where all the stuff would come from he pauses and thinks and then blurts out the obvious "we'll buy it on the internet". Sadly that is how many young people think.

And they want to punish corporations, which they don't really have to do business with, by empowering an even bigger and more despotic corporation - the government. Oh, and you HAVE to do business with that company, like it or not.

Where do they get all these flakey ideas from? Some from liberal parents but most from their radical school teachers and college profs, that's where.

The author does blame poor education and a number of other things. And he nails it with this:

And that is exactly what the Left was trying to accomplish. Ennui. A society that no longer believes in itself, in it's God and it's heroes and it's institutions. Churches have become social clubs, social clubs have simply disappeared or become senior centers. The things that bound us as a people were systematically removed from our society. We now have 45 million people who speak Spanish in this country, for instance. So no common language. We no longer have men-only club, so no male bonding. Shoot; the Boy Scouts are now "Scouting USA" and accept girls, completely missing the point of why the organization existed in the first place. Kids are taught there is no concrete reality, but rather all reality is subjective "my truths" and that includes your sex and even your species now. Young people are drowning in a moral and spiritual quicksand.

This is exactly what the KGB and other Communists planned from the very beginning and labored to implement. Now they have it and a whole new generation of Communists has risen, Phoenix-like, from the ashes of the disaster that was the 20th century Marxism.

The Marxists always understood the rebellious nature of the youths and channeled that to their benefit. Conservative types never did learn to do that successfully. Our power base is the mature, because they know enough to recognize a bad idea when it bites them on the behind.

There ae so many vacuums in our lives now. The churches are preaching Barney the Dinosaur values and not the Word of God, nor the old fire-and-brimstone that these kids need to hear. There is a great apostacy occurring amount the youths. And Communism is more than happy to step in. And the schools have become citadels of Satan, full of uncleanness, hatred, and yes, Communism.

What with the broken families and the relaxing of societal disapproval for out-of-wedlock births, these kids no longer have actual families. And the Pandemic with it's "remote learning" and other things broke the bonds of school-based friendships, the surrogate family for these kids. They are alone in the world, rudderless as their elders refuse to give them rules or concrete concepts they can rely on. Everything is fluid, everything in flux, and they seek out something to act as a life preserver. The Communists step in. 

Boredom is another undervalued influence here. The young are bored - bored with their lives, bored with their families, bored with everything. Why? They have too much, too many choices, too many hours of screen time. And most don't work or are underemployed, so they spend their days on their phones and doomscroll or amuse themselves with mindless drivel. They know what they are doing is pointless, empty. They seek something real. But what do they have in life that is real? Their elders are teaching them that NOTHING is real and the obvious conclusion is nothing matters. If the Church were wise it would have stepped in but it is more interested in making friends with the world and less with teaching the eternal truths so that outlet is no good. And of course under Obana and Biden the military was just another social justice machine - nothing there. So the young find Marxism and it offers something real, something powerful, and something that will change the world, or so they think. Most of these youths don't know it was tried and failed spectacularly, creating the very problems it promised to fix. And it killed millions in the process. 

That the younger generation is embracing the most evil system ever devised by Man is not surprising; what is surprising is it took them so long.
