Chuck you Schumer, the geriatric Senate Majority Leader, is invoking the equally geriatric Rule of Five to force the release of the Epstein files.
The Rule of Five is a rarely ussed 1928 law (5U.S. Code 1954) which says that if five members of the Senate Committee on Government Affairs.agree the President has to obey.
The only thing is the committee on Government Affairs no longer exists, having been replaced by the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
Also, it is clearly an unconstitutional law, violating Separation of Powers. If Chuckie Doll wants to invoke this then Trump would challenge it in court and likely win at the Supreme Court level.
The Democrats last invoked this against Trump in his first term.
The Rule of Five means Congress can compel the President to turn over matters involving purely executive functions. There is a reason why the Founders separated these functions.
In fat the Biden Administration took the case over after Trump left office and argued the law was unconstitutional. The case wound up being dropped before a judgement was rendered.
Of course Chuckles knows that a lot of the information that is in the possession of the DOJ is not allowed to be unsealed by order of a court. He is trying to force Trump to release it anyway then will say he broke the law and file articles of impeachment. Schumer knows Trump won't comply so he can use that as evidence Trump has something to hide. It's all about perceptions, not about facts.
I want the information released too but I want it done responsibly and legally.
I wonder too if Trump and Bondi aren't sitting on this to get the Democrats panties in a bunch then release the stuff and everyone yawns, making the Dems look foolish. Sort of like stunt by Geraldo Rivera and Al Capone's vault; that nearly wrecked Rivera's career when the vault wound up being empty (after all the buildup).
Certainly there is nothing there that could hurt Trump or the Democrats would have demanded it's release long ago.
I agree with the author of this piece; this is a sign of desperation on the part of Democrats, and Chuck Shoeless.
It's fun watching Democrats desperately hunt for anything to use against Trump. They look like Keystone Cops.

And how did Geraldo manage to survive that stunt, anyhow? If he hadn't been a Democrat flunky, he'd have been out on his ear. Although Dan Rather didn't survive the Texas Air National Guard fiasco -- but that was a naked attempt to take a president -- or a presidential candidate -- down, and for once it didn't work.

Of course Dana Rivera just made a stupid mistake (any lawyer knows you don't put a witness on the stand if you don't know what he's going to say, and basicaolly Geraldo did the equivalent.) What Rather did was malicious and dishonest. Geraldo was actually honest in that he did in fact wait until broadcast time to see what was in the vault. He could have opened it early and resealed it.
Bill, you got THAT right! Schumer has no clue how to handle any of this and yet refuses to retire. But he's always been a screwball and now is screwier than ever.
