He's right and we need to do this. In fact we did do this in the 1920's and had essentially no immigration to America until Ted Kennedy reopened it (and preferred immigration from the Third World in his bill) in the sixties. That was forty years of no immigration and we did just fine.

At this stage we are almost to the point of having no America. That was by design; back in the eighties when I was in college the big thing was multiculturalism, and all the lilberals argued America needed to not be a melting pot but a salad, with individual groups retaining their identity while being part of the whole. It was a terrible idea; look at the Balkans, or India, or the Caucasus. Look at Africa. Places that do not absorb newcomers wind up in a state of constant warfare. Which was the point ultimately to these lefties; they wanted America taken down a peg and punished for her "sins" and wanted to help the Third World rise on America's bones. And now we are at a point where we may never be able to assimilate these people. Too many have come and been catered to for too long.
