Chinese Energy Crisis Tied to Plans to Seize Taiwan?

Is China's energy crisis a result of plans to wean themselves off coal to facilitate an eventual attack on Taiwan? The Chinese import a lot of the coal they burn for power.

Onward, after a lengthy discussion about Bitcoin for some obscure reason, with, "If China moves now to cancel the deals it had in the works in 20 nationsâ€¦â€ And if pigs start flying all sorts of odd things will result.

We then are told that, "the massive California state employee and teachers retirement funds, have sent tens of billions of dollars to China, including to Chinese firms involved in the PRCâ€™s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative.â€ And that has precisely what to do with Chinaâ€™s supposedly failing power system?

Then weâ€™re back to evidence free speculation with, "In truth, it may simply be that Chairman Xiâ€™s effortâ€¦â€ and "the Chinese communist regime may simply be running out of moneyâ€ and "there is another, more ominous possibility," which seems to be that "the PRC [might] be preparing for conflict over Taiwan.â€

Really. This nation and its media is becoming more clownish every single day. I am embarrassed to live in a nation this infantile and idiotic.

3 I agree Bill; it's largely speculation. But the Federalist isn't a news source but an opinion journal.

That said I agree with most of your criticisms of the article. And I really didn't understand that part about bitcoin at all.

As you know I don't necessarily agree with the articles I link up here. Often they are there to provoke discussion or reflection.

That said I think there is a reason for the energy crisis in China. They aren't the kind to let it happen.

There certainly would be a reason for the energy crisis in China, if there is one. The article provides no actual evidence that there is one.

The media attacks Trump by adding "without evidence" to every claim her makes. "Trump asserted without evidence that the sun rose this morning.â€

The Federalist asserts without evidence that there is an energy crisis in China.

6 Bill, I linked up articles earlier about the energy crisis in China so I don't dispute that particular claim. They have been struggling since adopting "green" tech (like everyone else who has.) I don't think that is in dispute so much. The reasons why are a different matter.

Certainly the shutdown after Covid had a lot to do with it. So did their attempt to utilize wind and solar, which have not been ready for prime time. But there probably are other reasons.

Certainlly command economies suffer such problems. And Xi is returning China to a more pure command economy.
