Wow! There may have been gay soldiers in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War, but I'm betting heavily against transgenders! We didn't have the "treatments" back then, for one thing.

And for another the society at that time would not accept it. "transgenderism" used to be called "sissy" and people mocked a guy in a dress. (Remember The Lumberjack Song from Monty Python during the '70's?)
