Capitalism and Socialism in a Nutshell

Bingo! I've been saying that for years; capitalism is not an ism at all, but the natural behavior of human beings. People make stuff or find stuff and then trade it for stuff they don't have. It's as simple as that. All of the economic voodoo is just a lot of hot air to explain this basic principle. Socialism, on the other hand, is simply empowering a cadre of a few people to direct those who have stuff or make stuff and force them to give it to others who don't have or make stuff and the leaders skim off the top. It's what they provide; the service whereby those without can steal from those with.

An "economy" is simply people doing what works for them in the particular situation they find themselves living in -- as long as other people don't get in their way.

Yawp. It's PEOPLE living their lives. Socialism interrupts that by making some do stuff for others. It's a kind of slavery where the capable and ambitious are forced to work for the lazy and incompetent - and their masters in the system.
It's not a whole lot different from the feudal economy where serfs worked for a lord. The Dark Ages, they called that. And that ended only when enough opportunity presented itself to allow everyone to be his own lord and leave the feudal system. We are now going back to the Dark Ages.
