Short answer is no Dana. Granted, people have eaten grasshoppers and even worms but you'll eat an old tire if you are hungry enough.
The Left is really pushing bug eating these days so as to "save the planet" from some nebulous evil caused by beef, pork, and chicken.

We had steak -- and oven-roasted fingerling potatoes seasoned with herbs from our garden tonight. Neither of us felt the least bit repentant about it.
OTOH, John the Baptist lived on locusts and wild honey. I imagine that with enough honey, locusts are palatable. Now, if we tell the Leftists who are pushing bugs that one of the top Christians ate them, it might turn them off.

Mmmm....steak and potatoes! Truly a great classic!
I wonder how badly stung John the Baptist was from collecting that honey to make the locusts palatable? It's not easy getting honey from a wild honeycomb. Heck, it's not easy getting it from a domesticated comb. I know some beekeepers, and they get stung up something awful.
I like your idea; tell 'em it's a Christian thing and watch the libbies run for the hills!
