Major ice ages are associated with extensive volcanism, especially submarine volcanism in the waters of the Southern Hemisphere. The evaporation due to seismic heat deposits snow across the Northern Hemisphere to build glaciers. Tidal Pumping from Milankovitch cycles drives Southern Hemisphere submarine volcanism. But these routine Tidel Pumping stresses are amplified as the Solar System orbits the Milky Way at 70,000 km/hr.

A Black Dwarf Star would be virtually non-detectable other than by its huge gravity field. Black Dwarfs are likely a better explanation than what has been posited as Dark Matter. It could be hypothesized that as the Solar System has swept by Black Dwarfs in the past, their gravity fields trigger an Ice Age. A binary system of Black Dwarfs would be felt over an extended period.
