Bidenbots, AOC blame lack of "Green Energy" for Failure of Texas Grid

So, Texas froze as a result of their power grid going down. So, what is the answer?

Why, more wind and solar power of course!

Yes, the same dufi (is that the plural of dufus?) who brought us the Texas frozen toe two step now want to make it a permanent feature of life in the Lone Star State (and beyond).

"What happened in Texas is a preview of what the climate crisis will look like — coast to coast — if we fail to make transformational infrastructure investments now,” said Ms. Lodes. "President Biden knows we have to build back better and work together towards a clean energy future.”

Not buying it was climate change skeptic Marc Morano, founder of the ClimateDepot.com. He cited a Center of the American Experiment study that gave nuclear power the highest score for performance and reliability from Feb. 15-17, the height of the outages, with failing grades for wind, hydro and solar.

"The proponents of the Green New Deal are desperately trying to push the theme that the more green energy fails, the more green energy must be mandated,” Mr. Morano said. "But there is no scientific, economic, or energy reason to expand wind power even more in Texas.”

Of course Alexandria Ocasio Cortez chimed in in her inimitably stupid way :


So it's because there aren't enough wind mills and solar panels, not because those wind mills and solar panels failed when the weather didn't cooperate!

Texas gets about a quarter of it's power from renewables, and it was those sources that failed in the cold and snow. Wind mills in Texas aren't heated (as that would require fossil fuels) so they froze up. Solar panels stopped working because of snow loads. (Granted, solar is a minor part of the Texas power generating scheme.)

Natural gas generates about half of the power in Texas. But there is no gas storage in place and pipelines froze up. With no gas in reserve the system had to rely on wind to a far greater extent. Coal, which accounts for just 13.4% of the energy distribution, is easily stored and utterly reliable but was such a small part of Texas energy it scarcely mattered.

Biden's "Climate Czar" Gina McCarthy said:

"The reason why the president is focused on this is because the time is now,” Ms. McCarthy told NBC’s "Today” on Feb. 20. "But it also is an opportunity for us as we start rebuilding our economy to build it on the most firm base that we can, and the one that’s going to grow the most jobs, that happens to be clean energy.”

Except it didn't. And there have never been "green jobs" as promised overseas. Biden has killed many jobs in the fossil fuel industry by his high-handed cancelation of the Keystone XL pipeline and other efforts to kill American oil and gas and coal. His promises of "green jobs" rings hollow for those thrown permanently out of work by this fantasy of "renewable energy".

Thirty two people died in the cold snap/blackout and countless businesses and consumers suffered massive bills for the unreliable energy thanks to rolling blackouts.

According to the Texas Energy Information Administration:

Texas leads the nation in wind-powered generation and produced about 28% of all the U.S. wind-powered electricity in 2019. Texas wind turbines have produced more electricity than both of the state's nuclear power plants since 2014.

Texas produces more electricity than any other state, generating almost twice as much as Florida, the second-highest electricity-producing state.

Texas is the largest energy-producing and energy-consuming state in the nation. The industrial sector, including its refineries and petrochemical plants, accounts for half of the energy consumed in the state.

So you have a state that leads the country in energy CONSUMPTION putting a quarter of it's eggs into leaky a basket as wind. Is it any surprise that wind failed when the Polar Vortex blew chill?

But that doesn't comport with the Green narrative.
