It's a fire sale in Washington as soon-to-be unemployed federal leeches, er, workers now face dismissal over their shoddy work or lack thereof. Everyone's fleeing like rats from a sinking ship, and this is reflected in home prices in the greater D.C. area.
Everything must go!
From the Black Sphere:
Have you seen the map of all the homes for sale in the DC area? I’m not sure of the average cost, but it’s over a million easily.
The DC bureaucrats are leaving the sinking ship. Many of them know their jobs are gone. Home values are dropping like COVID-vaccine-injected test monkeys.
Posted on X were some interesting datapoints. For example, since DOGE began discussing mass layoffs, the median home price in Washington, DC, has FALLEN by $139,000. In 30 days, nearly 4,000 homes have been listed for sale in and around Washington, DC.
In November 2024, the median home in Washington, DC, was worth ~$699,000, according to Redfin. Today, the median home is worth $560,000, marking a -20% drop in ~3 months. Mass selling is an understatement.
There are now nearly 8,000 homes for sale in the Washington, DC, metro area. Nearly HALF of these homes have been listed for sale over the last 30 days. Since November 2024, nearly 5,000 homes have been listed for sale, well above average.
Most people cannot absorb this large a drop in the value of their property, and if they refinanced in the last couple of years they are going to be underwater on their mortgages and hard-pressed to sell. On average they will have to bring $130,000 to closing with them.
But what did they expect? They had a huge party at taxpayer expense; did they really think it would go on forever?
One thing is for certain; the loss of illegal aliens will be made up for with out-of-work Federal workers. We can expect them to work in housekeeping at hotels or in meat packing plants in the future. It may be wrong of me to enjoy the schadenfreude but I can't help myself; now they can learn who and what middle America is and what it's like to be the "other half".

Yeah; hope they are vigilant in this too. It would be just like America to ban the sale of farms but not of housing.
