Arguing with Idiots Hitler was a Christian Edition

Timothy Birdnow

I just had a rather nasty argument on Facebook with a man who tried to claim Hitler was a Christian. I was angry. Below is the exchange:

John Martin:

Hitler was also a Christian,

My reply:

Bullshit John Martin. Hitler was at best agnostic. And most of the Nazi Party were members of the Thule Society, a pagan sect. Hitler made a couple of public statements early on to play to the German People but there is no evidence of your assertion. Even the Washington Post, no lover of Christianity, admitted Hitler hated Christians. https:// www.washingtonpo st.com/history/ 2019/04/20/ hitler-hated-jud aism-he-loathed -christianity-t oo/ In 1933 Hitler told Hermann Rauschning that he intended "to stamp out Christianity root and branch." https:// www.christianpos t.com/voices/ adolph-hitler-wa s-never-a-chris tian-and-hated- christianity.ht ml And the Germans held Pope Pius under seige in the Vatican with plans to eventually execute the Roman Catholic pontiff. And he was a great admirer of Islam. In 1940 he stated "The religions are all alike, no matter what they call themselves. They have no future—certainly none for the Germans. Fascism, if it likes, may come to terms with the Church. So shall I. Why not? That will not prevent me from tearing up Christianity root and branch, and annihilating it in Germany." Does that sound like a good Christian to you? This claim is a blood libel.

John Martin replied:

Timothy Birdnow Hitler grew up in Austria, belonging to a Christian church.

And the Founder of Christianity made no secret indeed of His estimation of the Jewish people. When He found it necessary He drove those enemies of the human race out of the Temple of God; because then, as always, they used religion as a means of advancing their commercial interests. But at that time Christ was nailed to the Cross for his attitude towards the Jews; whereas our modern Christians enter into party politics and when elections are being held they debase themselves to beg for Jewish votes. They even enter into political intrigues with the atheistic Jewish parties against the interests of their own Christian nation.

This is straight out of Mein Kampf. Page 74. Questions, big guy?

I think Hitler's own book is a better reference than the ones you quoted. Wish to really continue this conversation? Ad hoc attacks

My retort:

John Martin you say "Timothy Birdnow Hitler grew up in Austria, belonging to a Christian church. " So? Joseph Stalin was in the Seminary too. I guess HE was a Christian by your standards? Is George Soros a religious Jew then? Was Karl Marx?

John Martin responded:

Timothy Birdnow You're deflecting. I just provided you sufficient information.

I reply:

John Martin you show yourself to be an ignorant bigot "And the Founder of Christianity made no secret indeed of His estimation of the Jewish people. When He found it necessary He drove those enemies of the human race out of the Temple of God; because then, as always, they used religion as a means of advancing their commercial interests. But at that time Christ was nailed to the Cross for his attitude towards the Jews;" No; Jesus did toss the money changers out of the temple because they were dishonoring God, not because he hated Jews. And he was executed for saying he was the Son of God. If you knew anything at all you would know that. I think you are dishonest and simply a hater. Jesus WAS a Jew and told a Samaritan woman he had come for the Jews. But you don't want to hear any of that, do you.

And even you should be able to understand Hitler wrote Mein Kampf while in prison and had to promote himself as a victim. He would have gotten no sympathy had he not at least paid lip service to Christianity, as Germany was still predominantly Christian at that time. But he clearly was not one.

John Martin YOU are the one who is deflecting. I gave you a couple of links which you simply ignore because they don't fit your narrative.

Here are some quotes from Hitler against Christianity. http:// www.theglobaldis patch.com/ adolf-hitler-quo tes-against-chr istianity-79331 / Oh, I guess he never said any of this, did he?

Even if Hitler WAS a Christian early on he clearly renounced his faith. But I guess he can't do that, huh?

Joe Auriemma says:

It's interesting John Martin, you have reacted the same way all the dems, leftists & Marxists do when they are presented with facts and questions. They Spin & go off-topic or attack irrelevancy sometimes without all the facts. So the previous post was for you as well, John Martin, since you brought to our attention about Hitler being a Christian, there is an Article @ the end of my previous post that talks about Hitler's Beliefs. Perhaps you'd like to enlighten yourself, 1 of the things that struck me as so absurd & Odd, he believed that Jesus was not a Jew.

Tim adds:

Mark Musser, author of Nazi Oaks and a man who has done extensive writing and research on Hitler and the Nazis, had this to say on the subject: When Hitler said "Lord," he meant Nature, not the transcendent Judeo-Christian God of the Bible, borrowing heavily from the German natural theology of the 1800's that fed it/ him - often drifting into Pantheism. The Fuhrer was very anti-Christian, and you can see this routinely in his Table Talks where his more personal views are readily seen, which are closer to the real Adolf. His public speeches and references to the "Lord," are thus the last place one should look to fish out his view on Christianity because the Fuhrer was indeed a politician, and he knew that many in Germany of his day were still at least nominally Christian. I can easily post up one quote after the next showing Hitler's complete disdain for Christianity, even of Catholicism, which he grew up in. The best book on this that I have read is Richard Weikart's "Hitler's Religion" which I highly recommend sorting this all out - https:// www.amazon.com/ Hitlers-Religion -Twisted-Belief s-Drove/dp/ 1621575004.

1 Tim, you certainly have a strong stomach for arguing with idiots! This John Martin certainly is one! Bravo for the way you handled him, though I doubt you made much of an impression on him.

2 No I didn't make much of an impression on him. He got mad and said I was launching ad-hominem attacks and concluded the discussion.

Notice his speech on the Jews, btw; he's clearly a Nazi sympathizer.

3 Either that, or he's ignorant enough of history to be unaware of the damage they caused -- and would have caused had they won. Which is probably the case. He's probably a wet-behind-the-ears kid in his 20s, is parroting things he's heard.

4 That's what I suspect Dana. He's young and dumb and doesn't know a lot of history BUT he thinks he's wise beyond his years.

Such are the building blocks of real misery. Young and dumb is not their fault, but the arrogance to think they know better is, and it will cause untold suffering when put into practice. It's why National Socialism succeeded in Germany in the first place.

There was a theory that the German youth had lost their fathers and that Hitler and the Nazi top brass offered strong father figures to the dopey kids. Perhaps. But it is true that the young embraces Naziism and caused one of history's greatest evils as a result.

I see this John Martin guy being one of those.
