Despite possibly record high inflation and looming economic disaster the stock market is soaring. Now why is that?
I've been reading a lot of analysis, which swing from the economy is recovering to the public is relieved at the steps being taken by our government. But those are all hogwash, in my view.
Now, the reason is that people are investing more to save their assets. Keeping the money in the bank, or at home, means losing value every day. And investing in government bonds? You would be nuts to put your faith in the full faith and credit of the United States - much less a state or local government.
That leaves only a few options. You could buy land, but land is increasingly expensive, especially since the Chicoms are buying it all up. The average investor would have to take out a loan to buy it - and the interest rates are rising and with inflation you may not be able to pay the loan off.
Or you could buy precious metals. But these make you a target, and with the current refusal to enforce laws it would make you a target. Also, many people are afraid of owning precious metals because they don't really understand them - and because they fear the government may make you turn in your gold or silver just as they did in times past.
So what other options are there? Most investments are in worldwide corporations which can perhaps survive the economic collapse of the U.S. and the value may remain shielded form inflation here. It seems to me stocks are pretty much the only viable option for most.
So naturally the market is up.
it has always been so; the markets go up during heavy inflationary periods.
And when the bust comes (as it always does) the wealthy class is there to pick over the carcass.

Facebook lost $232 BILLION dollars in the last year, an all time record. He's been bleeding money since his manipulation of the last election and his doubling down on censorship at the Facebook. Most of that has occurred as Conservatives leave the site due to the endless suppression of free speech by the Zuck.
So Pencilneck has opted for an option that will hurt nothing but his pride; a bot that mocks him and thus restores confidence in his product. But it actually does nothing.
As of this morning I am still on a 30 day suspenstion for unstated crimes, and my second account is suffering technical difficulties that prevent me from seeing any comments on posts by friend or myself and thus making conversation impossible. I am convinced this is a kind of shadow ban.
None of this censorship is going to change. All that Zuckerberg has done is have one bot say some things conservatives will like. Again, it costs him nothing.
Still, it's good to hear a computer call the creepy cracker out.

This is a must-read article that explains well Mitch McConnell's probable goals and motivations. I think the author's theory is valid.
The author explains well why McConnell may want to suppress the Republican vote. In a nutshell, McConnell doesn't want Republican candidates elected who might not support him for majority leader. What this means is that not voting, or not voting GOP, is playing into his hands.

Founded in 1600 and ended in 1833, the East India Trading Company at one point was the most powerful monopoly in the world.
The Hudson Bay Company was founded in 1670 and has long ago passed its heyday, although it continues as a high end retailer.
My former employer, E.I. DuPont de Nemours, was founded in 1802 and essentially ceased in 2017 with the merger/demerger with Dow. The DuPont name lurches on with a sorry collection of "green energy†crap.
These large commercial enterprises pretty much lasted a little over 200 years.
The U.S. Constitution was ratified in 1788. A little over 200 years ago. So this is how it ends ? Just another commercial enterprise turning out the lights.

One thing is now clear given the FBI raid and the Jan 6 propaganda trial.

'Norwegian Authorities' have concluded the best option was to kill a 600 kg 'protected' Walrus to keep the people safe. 'Keeping us safe' seems to be the go-to excuse for bureaucrats to disregard civil rights and now animal rights and laws and make autocratic decisions.
This intrepid Walrus had pleased crowds in The Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, England and Scotland without harming anyone, and without being given the death sentence by unelected officials. But sadly some Norwegian bureaucrats decided that because humans couldn't be trusted to act responsibly in their own interest, the best recourse was to kill the Walrus.
'The celebrity boat-climbing Walrus Freya has been euthanased by Norwegian authorities, who said she was posing a risk to humans after drawing large crowds in the Oslo Fjord.'
Specifically Norway's Directorate of Fisheries said Freya was put down early Sunday "based on an overall assessment of the continued threat to human safety".
"...the public has disregarded the current recommendation to keep a clear distance to the walrus,"
Over the last two and a half years politicians and bureaucrats have disregarded individual rights and civil liberties telling us it was imperative to "keep us safe". We've allowed them to get away with this without requiring proper justification or accountability.
Every time I think society will finally push back and put a stop to this authoritarian creep I am disappointed to observe we let it happen with barely a whimper.

Half of the public approves of the raid on Trump's home, according to a new Rasmussen poll.
According to Rasmussen:

There will be real-world consequences for a 100,000 member IRS. I would bet that things like ebay will be destroyed by this. Ebay, Amazon, Etsy, even flea markets, etc., etc., with that many resources, the IRS will have the people to flood outlets like that to force them to hand over sales recipts and track seller's activity. Once people realize that, they will stop selling on ebay. And used markets and small sellers will disappear.

I just found this article from Der Spiegel via a link from wikipedia.
Now, I remember personally being called a conspiracy theorist for suggesting that the claimed "fertilizer" stored at the port was in fact explosive, and destined to be used as explosive.
At the time, the official story was that the material was intended to be fertilizer. We now know this to be a lie.
There were two possible destinations for the material, both of which involved it being used as explosive.
Officially it was headed to an explosives manufacturer in Mozambique. Unofficially, it looks very possible that the plan was to get it to Beirut and then pull strings at official levels that resulted in the explosive being unloaded at Beirut where it could potentially be disappeared.
