Knox County, Tenn., Bans Communion, Hymnals—and Even Bibles—at Church

Dana Mathewson

The junior Stalins are coming out of the woodwork! Never mind that they are violating the Constitution every time they turn around.
One of the things we’re beginning to see as states move toward "reopening” is elected officials and health directors mandating even more stringent precautions than had existed in prior orders. In Ohio, for example, Gov. Mike DeWine announced last week a plan to reopen the state, even while ordering restaurants, stores, and their customers to wear masks — something that wasn’t required under his previous shutdown order.
Having tasted unlimited power, they will not relinquish it. We knew that. We're lucky they are overplaying their hands so soon!

It’s even worse in Knox County, Tenn., where the health department just announced that while churches may reopen on May 1, the Lord’s Supper is forbidden.

The order was announced by Knox County Health Department Regional Hospital Coordinator Charity Menefee, who announced that Communion is not part of "core worship.”

Want to bet this poorly-named Madam Mao hasn't been inside a church since she was a kid? Who does she think she is, passing judgment on what is, and isn't, "core worship?"

"The Community Strategy for Phased Reopening is complementary to Governor Lee’s ‘Tennessee Pledge: Reopening Tennessee Responsibly’ framework and the White House’s ‘Opening Up America Again’ guidance,” the edict explains. "Local government has been empowered to create strategies relevant to the unique needs of the community.”

"If there are differences between the plans, the community should follow this local plan,” the document explains. The order lists the rules for reopening a wide variety of businesses including restaurants, spas, tattoo parlors, and museums. It also allows churches to hold services, provided they follow the county’s stringent guidelines that include social distancing, sanitizing surfaces between services, treating every partitioner "as if they are potentially dangerous,” and a requirement that everyone in attendance at Knox County churches wear a mask—unlike stores and restaurants, where employes and patrons are only required to wear a mask when social distancing cannot be maintained.

In addition, "The physical taking of communion/sacrament should not be performed due to the serial breaking of physical distancing across a congregation.” Churches are urged to "consider guiding parishioners in how to connect with the spiritual aspects of these practices during this phase.” Never mind that for Christians, Communion is a requirement, not an optional activity that can be transmitted over the internet.

Not only that, but church attendees are also banned from physically embracing or shaking hands with one another. And singing, while not banned, "is discouraged as it is thought to be an activity that expels significantly more virus than talking.”

Also banned by the Knox County order: "communal items (for example, tithe plates, hymnals, bibles, etc.).” Churches are told they should use a donation box in lieu of an offering plate. "Only core worship services are permitted in Phase One,” the order reads. "Activities such as groups and classes, youth services, social events, potlucks, communal snacks or food, and nursery, are not permitted in Phase One.”

And on and on, found here: https://pjmedia.com/culture/paula-bolyard/2020/04/30/knocksville-bans-communion-at-church-services-n386794 Dear readers, I am worried that government tactics like this may lead to some actual nastiness, of the sort Thomas Jefferson mentioned so many years ago.

At the very least, there need to be lawsuits!

Does it Work?

James Doogue

In an Facebook post I stated that 'The Wuhan virus was never going to be anything more than a bad flu season. Just background noise against the 3,600 deaths which occur daily on average in Australia.'

I was asked do I believe that would be the case if we hadn't implemented the restrictions. My answer follows.

I do, though admit it's debatable.

Deaths and infections in Australia peaked before the stay-at-home restrictions were put in place. But you can argue we were isolating the known infected people, and implemented greater hand hygiene and social distancing before then.

But we didn't know about asymptomatic infected people back then and we still have no idea how many may have been carriers without knowing. We won't know that until we do widespread antibody testing.

Jim Baker Hit Gen. Flynn

Timothy Birdnow

Looks like James Baker was the leaker who gave the Washington Post dirt on Gen. Flynn.

According to Judicial Watch:

Ignatius and Baker’s email exchanges per year are summarized below:

* In 2015, Ignatius and Baker had a total of seven email conversations to set up meetings or calls, two simply to compliment one another and one exchange where Ignatius invited Baker to speak at the Aspen Strategy Group conference.
* In 2016, Ignatius and Baker had a total of 10 email exchanges to set up meetings or calls and two to compliment each other.
* In 2017, Ignatius and Baker had a total of 10 email exchanges to set up meetings, one exchange where Ignatius forwarded one of his articles, and one exchange where Ignatius asks Baker for his thoughts on the JCPOA (the Iran nuclear deal), because Baker wasn’t available on the phone.
* In 2018, Ignatius and Baker had a total of nine email exchanges to set up meetings, four where Ignatius forwarded articles and one where Ignatius asks Baker for tips on what to say at a quantum computing conference where he was speaking.

"These records confirm that Mr. Baker was an anonymous source for Mr. Ignatius,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "Mr. Baker should be directly questioned about any and all leaks to his friend at the Washington Post.”

And that's not all:

In a related case, in October 2018, Judicial Watch filed a FOIA lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Defense seeking information about the September 2016 contract between the DOD and Stefan Halper, the Cambridge University professor identified as a secret FBI informant used by the Obama administration to spy on Trump’s presidential campaign. Halper also reportedly had high-level ties to both U.S. and British intelligence.

Government records show that the DOD’s Office of Net Assessment (ONA) paid Halper a total of $1,058,161 for four contracts that lasted from May 30, 2012, to March 29, 2018. More than $400,000 of the payments came between July 2016 and September 2017, after Halper reportedly offered Trump campaign volunteer George Papadopoulos work and a trip to London to entice him into disclosing information about alleged collusion between the Russian government and the Trump campaign.

Flynn’s attorney told the court that Baker was Halper’s "handler” in the Office of Net Assessment in the Pentagon.

Coronavirus is Primarily a Democrat Disease

Timothy Birdnow

Willis Eschenbach gives us a list of top infected counties in the U.S. Notice that four of the six worse places are in New York State. Another is in the Soviet Republic of Michigan and in the People's Republic of Illinois. But it is New York City that is overwhelmingly infected.

Interesting; there's not a single red state on this chart; all of the serious infections are in Democrat- controlled places.

What does that tell us?

Rising Sea Levels and Killer Tarps

Frank Lasee observes on Facebook:

How they twist the facts to create alarm. 6 x almost nothing is still almost nothing!

Sea levels have been rising for a couple hundred years. Long before the supposed man made cause of CO2 released to be recycled in the air. HOW DO THE ALARMISTS EXPLAIN THE WARMING AND SEA LEVEL RISE BEFORE MAN ADDED CO2?

NASA satellite data, collected since 1993, show global sea level rising merely 1.2 inches per decade, that’s a foot a century. That’s not MUCH different than the sea-level rise since the 1800s.

Climate at a Glance: Greenland Ice Melt

Reader Douglas added:

I did research a few months ago after a report that Miami FL would be underwater in less than twenty years... Well according to stats from ocean markers near Miami it will take over 300 years for the current rise of sea level to get to Miami. Something like 0.02 inches versus 3 feet...

This got me to thinking:

Douglas  that made me laugh. I live in St. Louis Mo. and back in the eighties - 1985 to be exact, the year we lost to Kansas City - we had perhaps the fastest base runner in professional baseball on the Cardinals - Vince Coleman. Coleman got injured just before the World Series in a freak accident involving the tarp they were pulling over the field during a rain delay. There was a hilarious skit on television featuring the music from "Jaws" and showing Coleman fleeing while the tarp crept up on him, to eventually take him down. Your comment brought that back to mind! I envision this sea level creeping up over three hundred years and a bunch of terrified Miamians running in terror. Gee the AGW people would be hysterical if they weren't so dangerous!

Hydroxychloroquine is the Treatment of Choice

Timothy Birdnow

Well, it looks like Hydroxychloroquine is the treatment of choice for the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons.

From the article:

In a letter to Gov. Doug Ducey of Arizona, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) presents a frequently updated tableof studies that report results of treating COVID-19 with the anti-malaria drugs chloroquine (CQ) and hydroxychloroquine (HCQ, Plaquenil®.

To date, the total number of reported patients treated with HCQ, with or without zinc and the widely used antibiotic azithromycin, is 2,333, writes AAPS, in observational data from China, France, South Korea, Algeria, and the U.S. Of these, 2,137 or 91.6 percent improved clinically. There were 63 deaths, all but 11 in a single retrospective report from the Veterans Administration where the patients were severely ill.

The media and their liberal allies have been desperately trying to badmouth hydroxychloroquine because Trump has openly advocated it. They are probably sticking fingers down their throats after reading this.

The Swine Flu was Worse

Timothy Birdnow

This from James Doogue, a friend from Oz:

The Swine Flu Was Worse
By the end of 2009, more than 37,000 Australians had been diagnosed with swine flu. More than 190 people were dead.

Worldwide, the US Centres for Disease Control estimates swine flu killed as many as 575,000 people. Eighty per cent of them were under 65.

In hind sight nobody said gee, I wish we had shut down our borders, our businesses and our schools, and told everyone to stay at home except for essential activities.

Australia didn't end up in a major recession. We didn't have an extra million unemployed. We were still dealing with the GFC, but even that didn't put us into recession. The Rudd government splashed a couple of hundred $billion up against the wall with nothing to show for it today.

We hadn't even paid that off and now the Morrison government looks like spending at least $300 billion on the Covid measures, again, with no infrastructure or any long lasting legacy to show for it.

At this stage by comparison we have fewer than 7,000 Covid-19 cases, most mild not requiring hospitalisation . We've had fewer than 100 people die, mostly elderly and almost exclusively with comorbidities.

The government is busy praising the Australian people for doing a great job, and by extension, praising themselves. Yet there are plenty of countries who didn't go into the lock down measures Australia did, yet they have 'performed' similarly well. Conversely, there are countries which had even more strict lock-downs, which haven't performed as well.

It seems the weather might have been a huge factor in the spread and severity of Covid-19.

I have little doubt Australia jumped the shark, and reacted emotionally to the threat rather than logically. I doubt that anyone will look back at this period and say the government did the right thing. The damage of the ruined businesses, lost jobs and wrecked personal finances will be with many for a long time.

Barr to Prosecute Constitution Violations

Timothy Birdnow

Looks like AG William Barr is on guard for gross violations of the First Amendment.

AG Barr Directs Prosecutors to Watch for Lockdown Restrictions that Violate Constitutional Rights

In a brief memorandum (pdf), Barr urgedU.S. attorneys general across the country to "be on the lookout” for state and local restrictions that could be running afoul of constitutional rights and civil liberties of individual citizens.

Those restrictions that attempt to mitigate the spread of the pandemic, he said, are "necessary,” but "there is no denying that they have imposed tremendous burdens on the daily lives of all Americans.”

Barr noted that the Justice Department(DOJ) previously issued guidance to state and local authorities explaining that even during times of emergencies, the Constitution and federal laws prohibit discrimination againstreligious institutions and religious believers.

"The legal restrictions on state and local authority are not limited to discrimination against religious institutions and religious believers,” Barr wrote. "For example, the Constitution also forbids, in certain circumstances, discrimination against disfavored speech and undue interference with the national economy.”

The Strength of Sin is the Law

Mark Musser

More madness. There are many hospitals all over the country facing financial ruin that may never return as they are serving all too few people thanks to all the lockdowns ..... during a pandemic .... Wonderful. Yet, strangely, nursing care facilities were mandated by the New York state health department to accept coronavirus patients when, apparently, select hospitals that are dealing with the coronavirus were/are being overrun with too much patients? This, of course, has exacted a high death toll against the elderly in these nursing homes since they are the most vulnerable to this nasty bug. Apparently, New Jersey and California have acted likewise. More than likely, Washington State has played its part too.

Remember the first big number victims in the USA to this bug occurred at a nursing home in Washington State? Since that time, it has impacted any number of nursing homes across the state - some 200 or more have died - which represents a sizable portion of deaths in the Evergreen State where green legalism, environmental fascism, overpopulation concerns, abortion, and euthanasia has virally infected all too many minds, particularly among our leaders.

In any case, Mark Levin unloaded on Cuomo big time for all this, as have others, including the Wall Street Journal for being among the first to break the story. Yet, notice Cuomo's legalistic response in the video below to the pressure that is mounting against him for what happened. He is just following the rules. Hospitals and nursing homes need to follow suit. He also shows himself to be very knowledgeable of the money train connected to it all. He is now blaming the nursing facilities for accepting the patients they were mandated to accept - but did not want.

The apostle Paul warns, "The strength of sin is the Law (1 Corinthians 15:56)," and that the practice of sin under the Law is pure madness as Romans 7 so strongly reveals. Solomon simply calls sin "foolishness." Legalism or lawyerism is, in fact, a very serious heresy that the New Testament spends much time on exposing and refuting - whether religious, mystical, philosophical, or political - and is at the very heart of the rot which is plaguing, pun intended, the USA these days. We have transferred from religious legalism in the "good old days" that turned so many people away from the faith, who have since foolishly adopted political legalism, which is no better in spite of its secularity. In the Bible, most of the corrupt money seen in life was/ is with the regulators, not with the common folks. Legalism is big money and power, and is filled with mafia like practices masquerading as do-goodism to fool the common folks so they can continue their madness under the prideful cloak of self-righteousness. God have mercy on us.

The Dogs of War

Timothy Birdnow

I posted this on a Facebook group dedicated to reopening the State of Missouri:

My wife has been waiting for surgery to stop bleeding from blood vessels in her eye. The bleeding has been very worrisome to her retina specialist who feared the retina would swell and detach. He couldn't do surgery because the surgery center was closed and so my wife had to be very careful to avoid bending or lifting, anything that would cause more bleeding. We received a phone call this morning saying they were reopening the surgery center and she was able to schedule surgery for mid May - provided they didn't shut things down again. If something happens before then and she loses her eye I fully intend to sue the Governor and the City of St. Louis.

Rondora didn't like my post and replied:

In a little more than a month nearly 60,000 loved ones have died in the U.S. due to contracting this disease and countless more will have life long chronic respiratory issues and your worried about suing the state for trying to limit the spread of this illness until they can better fight it. Yes it is unfortunate about the bleeding in your wife's eye. I pray that God heals her from this infirmity. But honestly I would rather lose an eye than my life. Imagine how many more lives would have been lost already if stay at home orders weren't put into action. Many less would have died if they were put into place sooner. This is NOT the common flu, it is much worse and we have no means of combating it that are highly effective other than social distancing. People need to realize we are in a war and just because we can see it doesn't mean it's not real. I would plead with all that read this though to turn to the Lord and seek repentance, not just for a time but until salvation is complete. Our nation will be healed when we turn back to God.

Reader John replied:

" In a little more than a month nearly 60,000 loved ones have died in the U.S. due to contracting this disease and countless more will have life long chronic respiratory issues and your worried about suing the state for trying to limit the spread of this illness until they can better fight it."

It's not either-or. They do not have to shut down every hospital and every doctor's office. There are many, many reports of empty hospitals, and doctors and staff being furloughed because of lack patients.

The one-size-fits-a
ll solution is clearly not working. In fact it is causing many more problems, while failing to solve the one it pretends to solve.

Rondora replied:

I agree that the one size fits all approach doesn't work for everyone but considering this was in the St Louis area where it has affected the most people in Missouri it is an accurate approach. St Louis was very successful in 1918 with this same approach and saved many lives during the Spanish flu where in Philadelphia the numbers showed a much graver story do to them ignoring what was really going on. I understand people wanting to get back to normal life, even myself, but for right now this is normal due to the circumstances. We will see what happens in the next couple of weeks no that more and more areas are beginning to open up but if we have another surge we will have to lock down again.

I replied:

Randora we have never forced everyone inside to control a disease before. Never. And we didn't need to do that now; most of those who have died were already ill and elderly. We NEED herd immunity. In case you didn't hear about it, the lockdown was never intended to SAVE any lives; it was intended to "flatten the curve" meaning minimize infections until the medical community was able to handle the numbers. It was understood that everyone who was going to get it would get it. What was needed was that young, healthy people catch it (it is largely benign in healthy people) and we would develop herd immunity. All we have done is postpone the inevitable. And in the meantime with all the sanitizing and scrubbing we are giving this virus every chance to mutate, so it may well wind up WORSE. And in the process we are destroying the economy, and a LOT of people are going to die here and worldwide as a result of that, the fruits of our own actions. Now is not the time to operate from panic or fear, but to be reasonable. And I am not even addressing the serious damage being done to America's civil liberties here. Again, we never have done this - not during the Spanish flu (except in a few heavily infected cities and for a minimal time) and not during Smallpox outbreaks and not during the Polio plague. Always those in danger self-quarantine d. Now we are all essentially being imprisoned by our government and in the end it won't work anyway.

Oh and Rondora this isn't a war. It is increasingly a coup rather than a war, one in which the American People are being systematically disenfranchised
. We've given up freedom of religion, freedom of the right to peacefully assemble, freedom of speech, and a host of other inalienable, God given rights in service to "flattening the curve". Oh, and if this were a war wouldn't we be more aggressive about attacking this "enemy"? We're not promoting herd immunity, and a lot of people are resisting using drugs that have shown some success in dealing with this. That is a strange kind of war.

Oh, one more thing Rondora; how did you get into this group? You are clearly a troll, since this group is for people who oppose the lockdown and you had to apply to enter. So you applied just to troll the people here. Admit it.

Minneapolis Neighborhood Begins Broadcasting Islamic Call to Prayer over Loudspeakers

Dana Mathewson

Once upon a time, we had a country that, although we welcomed immigrants, would never have done something like this. This is not the same as erecting a now church in the neighborhood. Islam isn't the same as other religions.

Robert Spencer spells it out.
Ilhan Omar is thrilled, and you know what that means: you should be, too. A cultural line has been crossed. According to the Star Tribune, "the Muslim call to prayer will be broadcast the traditional five times a day in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis, beginning with the start of Ramadan this week and continuing through the end of the religious holiday in May. It will be the first time the call to prayer, commonly broadcast from mosques in Muslim nations, will be heard in Minnesota.”

This is only supposed to be for Ramadan, but let’s be serious. In today’s Minneapolis, in today’s paradise of multiculturalism, what are the chances that the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood will stop broadcasting the adhan, the Islamic call to prayer, once Ramadan is over? About as good as the chances that Nancy Pelosi will endorse Trump and become his running mate.

Yet the implications of this broadcast call to prayer, beyond the expected hosannas from the usual proponents of globalism and multiculturalism, are ominous.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, a friend and supporter of Ilhan Omar, is no doubt as happy as she is about this, as it demonstrates how "inclusive” his city is. And that’s wonderful, but when the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood broadcasts the Islamic call to prayer, what exactly is it broadcasting? The adhan, prayed in Arabic, repeats "Allahu akbar” six times, "I testify that there is no god but Allah” three times, and "I testify that Muhammad is Allah’s prophet” twice.

Dr. Gavin Ashenden, former chaplain to the British queen, who resigned his position in protest against a Qur’an reading in a Scottish church, observed that "the Muslim call to prayer is a dramatic piece of Islamic triumphalism. It proclaims Islam’s superiority over all other religions, and in so doing casts Jesus in the role of a charlatan and a liar. The Muslim god, Allah, is unknowable and has no son. Jesus was, therefore, a fraud in claiming He and the Father are one.”

Is the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis really wise to broadcast repeatedly a declaration of the superiority of Islam, a faith that directs its adherents to make war against Christians and other non-Muslims and subjugate them as inferiors under the hegemony of believers (cf. Qur’an 9:29)?

Is the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis wise to broadcast the cry "Allahu akbar,” beloved of jihad terrorists the world over? Chief 9/11 hijacker Mohammed Atta wrote this in his letter to himself before carrying out his jihad mission: "When the confrontation begins, strike like champions who do not want to go back to this world. Shout, ‘Allahu Akbar,’ because this strikes fear in the hearts of the non-believers.” This is why the Fort Hood jihad killer, Nidal Malik Hasan, shouted it as he shot thirteen Americans in November 2009, and why so many other jihadis have used it essentially as an announcement that non-Muslims are about to die.

There's more, and it spells out a number of concerns. I don't drive into that neighborhood -- have no reason to -- and it's a "for sure" that I will now stay further away from it. Meanwhile, please read the article, found here: https://pjmedia.com/lifestyle/great-news-minneapolis-neighborhood-begins-broadcasting-islamic-call-to-prayer-over-loudspeakers-five-times-daily/

The Purpose of the Facemask

Timothy Birdnow

Wearing these masks is the way the Progressives are getting people invested in "the cause". It's an old tactic; get people doing something that they wouldn't normally do then they are loathe to desbelieve it. They want this pandemic, and want it to continue for some time. A lot of people would turn against the power grab going on if they started actually examining the real world situation, so there has to be a sacrament to keep them on the bandwagon. I think these masks are largely useless but they push them because getting people to wear them is half of the battle - not to protect people from the disease but to get the public to accept the bit in the mouth.

It's like the Islamic Turbin or the full beard, or like the Army buzz haircut. I remember the Clint Eastwood movie "Heartbreak Ridge" where he makes his outfit get standard Marine haircuts "when you start looking like Marines you'll start acting like them."

Put a facemask on someone and he feels like an obedient person. You've gotten him to accept the saddle on the back.

Liberal Arrogance and Hypocrisy

Timothy Birdnow

Warner Todd Huston observes:

You just can't be a liberal without being a massive hypocrite. Today leftists on Twitter are attack Steve Krakauer for his opinion. But instead of attacking his opinion, they are attacking him because he worked for the right-leaning The Blaze website. But these are exactly the same leftists who criticize people for doubting "the mainstream media," or slam those who say the lefty media is the enemy of the people. Do these leftists have ANY self awareness at all?

And I reply:

No. They have absolute faith in what they believe and think anyone who disagrees with their vision is only being a contrarian, because there is some sniveling profit to be had by it. They are truthtellers and we are liars - and so they have to "fight fire with fire" and lie to coutner our "lies". That is precisely how these people think.
