Top House Republican on mission to publish explosive Russia probe files

Dana Mathewson

Pulling the rug out from under Mueller, I believe.

House Republicans have lost the majority, but they're not giving up the bullhorn they've used to challengethe Russia probe narrative.

Amid the frenzied anticipation over the conclusion of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee has made a mission of publishing a slew of transcripts from closed-door interviews by the panel dating back to the GOP majority. Last week, Ranking Member Doug Collins, R-Ga.,unilaterally published hundreds of pages from interviews with former FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, containing juicy details about the anti-Trump so-called "insurance policy" (concerning the Russia probe), their affair and even the steps DOJ officials allegedly took to avoid serious charges for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 email investigation.

And that's just the start.

"There’s plenty more—at least 20 or more transcripts as part of this investigation,” Collins told Fox News in an interview this week. "We’re going through, not in a set order, but we want to make sure they’re ready to go.”

Earlier this month, Collins released the transcript of an interview with Justice Department official Bruce Ohr, who provided information to the FBI regarding Trump and his 2016 presidential campaign’s alleged ties to Russia. Ohr’s wife, Nellie, works for the firm Fusion GPS, which commissioned the infamous anti-Trump dossier.

It is unclear, at this point, which transcripts Collins will release next. Collins explained that his staff is making sure there are "no problems” with the transcripts that would reveal "any sources or methods.”

"There is no classified information here … and I’m not editorializing these transcripts,” he said. "We’re just putting them out there as is, so that [the American people] can look at questions, how they were asked and answered, and how this developed the narrative.”

The committee saw a number of high-profile Justice Department and FBI officials behind closed doors during the last Congress, receiving testimony from officials like Nellie Ohr, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein andformer FBI counsel James Baker, among others.

Collins' decision to publish such transcripts, even when in the minority, is not unprecedented.

Read the rest of the article to find out why. This stuff is driving the Democrats totally nuts. Wonderful! https://www.foxnews.com/politics/top-house-republican-runs-rogue-operation-to-publish-explosive-russia-probe-files

AOC : Cortez is Someone Else

Timothy Birdnow

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez aka Ally McSteal, aka the (A)OC, aka Occluded or Occasional Cortex, has flipped her horsehair wig over criticisms of her name.

Specifically, she is hissing at Laura Ingraham, whose guest Joe diGenova said the AOC "does that Latina thing" in the way she says her name.

From the U.K. Daily Mail:

Ingraham was speaking to conservative lawyer Joe diGenova on her Fox News program on Tuesday night when they started mocking the freshman Congresswoman for saying her name with an accent.

The host of 'The Ingraham Angle' had asked her guest if he'd noticed that Ocasio-Cortez takes on an accent when she introduces herself.

The conservative lawyer went on to mispronounce Ocasio-Cortez's first name as he used an exaggerated accent.

America's sweet-tart got her panties in a bunch:

Ocasio-Cortez fired back on Wednesday night in a series of tweets slamming Ingraham.

'If by 'the Latina thing,' she means I actually do the work instead of just talk about it, then yeah, I'm doing 'the Latina thing.' Unless of course she's talking about being multilingual, which we know isn't a 'Latina thing.' It's a '21st century' thing,' Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.

[...]

'By the way: Fox News likes to say my name (incorrectly) as 'Cortez,' which I can only imagine is bc that sounds more 'stereotypically' Hispanic + probably incites more 'anxiety' for them. Pro Tip: My last name is not 'Cortez,' just as theirs isn't 'Ingra' or 'Carl' or 'Hann'.

'My last name is Ocasio-Cortez. Full stop. That's my name. No, you can't say 'Cortez.' I've never used that in my life. 'Cortez' is referring to someone else. Even if they're trying to be rude + wrong, my dad's last name was Ocasio anyway. (His name was hyphenated too, though.)

Well nobody referred to George Bush Sr. As George Herbett Walker-Bush, darling. Hyphenated names are unwieldy, and can become ridiculous.

I suspect the freshman Congreswoman doesn't want to use Cortez because, well, he's a despised old white guy who bested the natives in Mexico, and she doesn't want to be associated with an oppressor (to whom she may well be related.) And she wants to adopt a latino custom, even though she she was born in the United States (although she despises her own country as bad as any Soviet spy back during the Cold War.) Oh, and if she's hyphenating, why is she not hyphenating in the American fashion with her mother's maiden name first? This woman has a serious chip on her shoulder.

AOC's Wikipedia page shows no hyphen in her father's name.

I conclude with a quote from Emerson "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds". Her insistence on rigid adherence to how she says her name is indeed quite small.

Into the Whale's Mouth!

Timothy Birdnow

A modern day Jonah?

https://www.livescience.com/64969-whale-almost-swallows-man.html

While photographing a mass of sardines off South Africa's coast last month, a dive tour operator ended up on the wrong side of a whale — the inside.

Rainer Schimpf, 51, was in the water with a "bait ball," a swirling school of sardines surrounded by predators, when he suddenly felt the world go dark. He quickly realized he'd been scooped up by a whale, he told The Today Show.

"I held my breath," he said in an interview with Today, expecting the whale to pull him down. "I mean there was no other thing I could do," he added. "I mean, you can't fight a 15-ton animal."

Fortunately the great beast spit the bad tasting fellow out (how insulting).

Also, the whale was a v Bryde's whale, which is a batch feeder, meaning it strains small fish from water, so it could never have swallowed the man. But can you imagine the terror of finding yourself inside a whale's mouth? Yikes!

A Drowning we will go!

Timothy Birdnow

My home town of St. Louis is looking down the barrel of a watery gun. According to Livescience:

Two giant waves of water are rolling down from the country's far-northern middle expanse. One wave is following the path of the Missouri River toward the Mississippi River, carrying with it big chunks of ice. The second wave is taking a similar path down the Mississippi River from Minnesota. Both are the result of a long winter of heavy snowfall in Minnesota and the Dakotas followed by a short, sharp melt.

Both floods are more or less each one giant wave traveling at the speeds of their rivers, said Darone Jones, director of the Water Prediction Operations Division (WPOD) at the National Weather Service’s National Water Center (NWC) in Alabama.

The North Dakota wave traveled down the Missouri River to Nebraska and yesterday (March 18) reached northwestern Missouri. After passing Kansas City it will turn left, following the river, and make its way toward the joining of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers in St. Louis. [Top 10 Ways to Destroy Earth]

The Minnesota wave is taking the more straightforward route down the Mississippi River through Iowa, past St. Louis and into the ocean. Along the way, both waves should lose some water, so the downstream floods may not be as intense as those upstream.

Amazingly enough the article does not try to blame this on carbon dioxide emissions. It explains that there was a lot of snow this winter then a major rainstorm which melted huge amounts of snow very quickly:

Thanks to a strong storm system last week, the snow is melting very fast. That storm dumped heavy snow on Colorado and then turned into rain over North Dakota and Minnesota, Jones said. That rain was very cold, but still warm enough to trigger a sudden snowmelt. Ultimately, a couple inches of rainwater across a wide area combined with several inches of snowmelt to produce this intense flood wave.

And the chunks of ice in the flood make things worse, Jones said. Periodically, they clump up as the flood moves south, creating temporary ice dams. Those dams cause water to back up behind them, worsening the flooding before they break and release the wave again.

Whatever the cause, St. Louis sits at the epicenter of these two huge floods. I suppose I should invest in a snorkel..

14 Illegals Stuffed in SUV Arrested

Timothy Birdnow

An alien clown car was busted by DEA agents in southern Illinois. From the Belleville News Democrat:

Authorities said they found 14 men from Guatemala and Ecuador crammed in an SUV after the car was pulled over for a traffic stop the morning of Feb. 25 on Interstate 64 near New Baden, a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s office stated. They believe the men, all between 16 and 34 years old, were in the country illegally.

The driver, 20-year-old Domingo Tomas-Zacarias, of Guatemala, is accused of transporting the 13 other men across an international border illegally, and with their consent, in exchange for a fee. He has been charged with human smuggling and faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

This is just one unlucky coyote; how many carloads of illegals are getting through?

Notice how it was Federal agents who made the arrest, not state police. Illinois is a sanctuary state and refuses to enforce America's immigration laws. Several of the men in the SUV were re-entering the country after having been deported.

America is clearly being invaded. Trump should close the border completely, if you want my opinion.

Missouri moves to become a firearms sanctuary state

Timothy Birdnow

Missouri just keeps getting better and better!

There's an upcoming vote in the Missouri Senate that would essentially make the Show Me State into a firearms sanctuary. The Sentinal has the story:

Like it’s predecessor, SB613, Bill SB367 and it’s companion, House Bill HB786, would prevent all state agencies and their employees from enforcing any federal law that infringes the Second Amendment in any way, including gun registrations, fees, fines, licenses and bans. Originally authored in 2014, a former version of the bill was also passed, but vetoed by then Missouri Governor Jay Nixon.
Pro-Gun Legislation with teeth

A stipulation of the newly passed bill states:
Sponsored

"All federal acts, laws, executive orders, administrative orders, court orders, rules, and regulations, whether past, present, or future, which infringe on the people’s right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States I and Section 23 of the Missouri Constitution shall be invalid in this state, shall not be recognized by this state, shall be specifically rejected by this state, and shall be considered null and void and of no effect in this state.”

For added measure, SB367’s authors went into great detail on what federal laws will be "considered null and void and of no effect.”

(a) Any tax, levy, fee, or stamp imposed on firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition not common to all other goods and services which might reasonably be expected to create a chilling effect on the purchase or ownership of those items by law-abiding citizens;

(b) Any registering or tracking of firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition which might reasonably be expected to create a chilling effect on the purchase or ownership of those items by law-abiding citizens;

(c) Any registering or tracking of the owners of firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition which might reasonably be expected to create a chilling effect on the purchase or ownership of those items by law-abiding citizens;

(d) Any act forbidding the possession, ownership, or use or transfer of a firearm, firearm accessory, or ammunition by law-abiding citizens; and

(e) Any act ordering the confiscation of firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition from law-abiding citizens

The bill is opposed by many Missouri law enforcement agencies, as they are apt to lose a massive windfall from forfeitures. It was also opposed by the Black Lives Matter Senator Jamilah Nasheed.

The fun thing about this is that it is that it provides for PROSECUTION of Federal gun grabbers! Missouri is effectively seceding from Federal gun legislation.

For all of you down with the blues aka stuck in Blue State America, I would invite you to come to a place where we are at least trying to just say not to Progressive oppression. You're welcome here in Missouri if you want a place where you can decide things for yourself.

If the relentless drive to socialist utopia is to be stopped, it is going to be by the individual states, and by laws like this. If ever America needed state nullification it is now. Let's hope the Governor has the cajones to sign this - and enforce it!

A Load of Bull at Petco

Timothy Birdnow

Here is a load of bull!

A texas couple recently invaded a Petco with - their pet steer! From the Fox Snooze article:

A man and woman from Texas couldn’t help but laugh as they recently walked their leashed steer into a Houston-area Petco to really see if "all leashed pets are welcome” at the store.

To Shelly Lumpkin and Oliver Browning’s surprise, the African Watusi was welcomed "with open arms,” Browning wrote on his Facebook page on Monday.

The steer is used in rodeos and has his own Facebook page.

Getting Petco to accept cattle in their Texas store is probably pretty easy; I'd like to see them do this in Massachussetts. Also, how about taking the animal to a Hindu temple somewhere? Now that would be really giving him a treat!

No Net Drought in North America

Timothy Birdnow

Global Warming causing more droughts in the U.S.? Nyet!

From CO2 Science:

A time series showing the percent of the country meeting the above drought criteria is presented in Figure 1. As illustrated there, it is clear that the frequency and magnitude of droughts are not increasing. In fact, they have decreased over the past century.

Taking their findings a step further, Mo and Lettenmaier next filtered the data presented in Figure 1 to examine severe drought events that covered 50% of the continental USA for a period of six months or longer. Analyses of these data revealed that (1) severe drought events were chiefly located in the central USA, (2) "the 2012 drought event was not unique," considering that there were "16 great drought events in the 98 years of record [they] analyzed," (3) "great droughts occurred less often, and events were less severe as time progressed" and (4) all but two of the 16 great drought events occurred in the first half of the record.

Well, welll, well.

The researchers, K.C. Mo and D.I. Lettenmaier, recently published their findings in Journal of Hydrometeorology. Their study examined well:

To accomplish their objective Mo and Lettenmaier used "gridded observed precipitation and reconstructed total moisture percentiles and runoff from four land surface models" to develop an integrated drought index (IDI) for defining drought in the continental USA over the period 1916-2013. Using this resulting index, drought periods were then defined as having an IDI value less than 0.3.

What I find interesting is that we have neither drought nor flooding, either condition is predicted by climate models. Yes, in some areas there has been each, but the overall value is neutral. And what flooding or drought we HAVE experienced is easily explained by factors other than increasing carbon dioxide:

With respect to the potential cause(s) of the 16 great drought events, Mo and Lettenmaier detected a relationship between the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) and drought (there was a higher percentage of drought when the AMO was in a positive phase) and between ENSO and drought (12 of the 16 great drought events occurred during cold La Niña years). However, droughts did not always occur when the AMO was in a positive phase or when La Niña conditions existed.

So, we're seeing no flooding or drought, no warming, no tropospheric hot spot, no heat sink in the oceans, no ice cap melt. It's a strange planetary emergency, isn't it?

New study; no North American Warming

Timothy Birdnow

North America has cooled since 1998, and this wipes out a nominal warming, leading to no warming since 1982, according to a new study.

From No Tricks Zone:

North America (180-0°N, 15-60°N) has been characterized as a "major cooling center” by the authors of a new paper (Gan et al., 2019) published in Earth and Space Science.
The continent warmed from 1982-1998, but a cooling trend since 1998 has nearly wiped out all the previous warming.
Overall, there has been no significant temperature change in North America since 1982.

The warming and cooling trends, especially the daily temperature minimum (Tmin), are well-correlated (r=0.71) with the path of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) during 1950-2014, leading the authors to conclude that the temperature trends over this 32-year period are "a result of” natural changes in the AMO.

$15 minimum wage causes AOC's bar to close

Jack Kemp

Townhall.com reports that the trendy bar where Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez worked has closed because of New York's escalating minimum wage laws.

BEGIN QUOTE

Among those calling for a $15 minimum wage is self-described Democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Before her election to Congress, Ocasio-Cortez worked at as a bartender at a popular New York bar in Union Square called The Coffee Shop. How popular? Investor's Business Daily said the bar was "frequented by A-list celebrities and featured on 'Sex and the City.'" Despite its popularity, The Coffee Shop went out of business last year. Its co-owner, Charles Milite, cited as the primary reason the city's minimum wage law. "The minimum wage is going up," said Milite, "and we have a huge number of employees."

Make America Greater: Approve the PCCS!

Paul Driessen

It has often been said that only people who have the poorest, stupidest, worst ideas demand that they and their ideas be shielded from questions and criticism. Maybe that’s why diehard climate alarmists and renewable energy advocates insist that "the science is settled” … that their asserted (and fabricated) "97 consensus” eliminates the need for any further discussion … and that we must immediately begin the process of dismantling and eliminating all fossil fuel use in the United States. They know they and their ideas would not survive scrutiny.

Or as physicist John Droz puts it in this article: Why are they so adamantly opposed to the creation of an independent, expert review of their "irrefutable” claims that the world faces an imminent and existential threat of manmade climate disaster? Why do they so vehemently oppose President Trump’s proposed Presidential Committee on Climate Science? WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO HIDE?

Left claims Chavez was Miracle Worker in Venezuela!

Timothy Birdnow

Salon.com is actually arguing in favor of Hugo Chavez claiming he did great things for the Venezuelan economy!

I kid you not.

The article states:

For instance, according to data compiled by the UK Guardian, Chavez's first decade in office saw Venezuelan GDP more than double and both infant mortality and unemployment almost halved. Then there is a remarkable graph from the World Bank that shows that under Chavez's brand of socialism, poverty in Venezuela plummeted (the Guardian reports that its "extreme poverty" rate fell from 23.4 percent in 1999 to 8.5 percent just a decade later). In all, that left the country with the third lowest poverty rate in Latin America. Additionally, as Weisbrot points out, "college enrollment has more than doubled, millions of people have access to health care for the first time and the number of people eligible for public pensions has quadrupled."

When a country goes socialist and it craters, it is laughed off as a harmless and forgettable cautionary tale about the perils of command economics. When, by contrast, a country goes socialist and its economy does what Venezuela's did, it is not perceived to be a laughing matter - and it is not so easy to write off or to ignore. It suddenly looks like a threat to the corporate capitalism, especially when said country has valuable oil resources that global powerhouses like the United States rely on.

The author cites a number of stats that suggest things got much better at first. Well, if true (and does anyone believe anything coming out of a Marxist state?) it is the showpiece for Margaret Thatcher's eloquent statement that socialism works until you run out of other people's money. Lower infant mortality? Sure, at first when you are exhausting public funds. If you spend all your money on one or two things with no thought for the "morrow you will live very well. But a wise person, or nation, looks ahead to the lean times. It is what made Joseph become the Prime Minister of Egypt in the Bible.

Of course, those statistics weren't compiled by an uninterested third party. They were compiled by the Venezuelan government, and the Soviet Union looked so wonderful to idiot liberals, too, for the same reasons. It is credulity on a monumental scale.

So, see, it's America that drove them under, not the system they were putting in place!

Liberalism is indeed a mental disorder.

The Politics of Purim: A Fitting Time for a ‘Jexodus'

Dana Mathewson

The Feast of Purim is tomorrow. This article is timely indeed!

On March 20, Jews around the world will celebrate the holiday of Purim, a time when we stopped "negotiating,” recognized the core values of Judaism, and stood up to the evil oppression of Haman. The story, from the Book of Esther, involves King Ahasuerus, the Persian ruler in Shushan, who was influenced by his evil minister Haman to kill all the Jews. We remember and celebrate the courage and strength of Mordecai and Esther in changing the king’s mind and saving the Jewish people from a massacre. This holiday is to be used to recommit ourselves to fighting anti-Semitism that is hiding in plain sight in the world, to take a stand like Mordecai and Esther and no longer tolerate the behavior of those who want to kill us. Purim compels us to stand up and insist that anti-Semites be stopped and publicly condemned for their behavior in all of its forms, including attempts to eliminate Israel as a nation.

I am a rabbi: a spiritual leader and teacher, not a political pundit, and my commentaries are always based on Jewish theology. As part of our religious observance of the holiday this year, maybe we need to embrace a "Jexodus” political movement in addition to our normal Purim celebrations.

Most Jews have voted Democratic most of our lives. Since the times of FDR, over 70% of Jews have supported the Democratic Party, and in the recent midterms, 76% of us voted that way. As part of observing Purim this year, I suggest that we all must exit from any involvement in the Democratic Party until the institutional anti-Semitism that has taken hold is removed and censured within the party. We must make it clear to the DNC that we will not give our support if we are taken for granted, and expect the party to support Judaism and Israel in the same way we have always supported the party.

The Democratic Party has now officially adopted an anti-Semitic attitude and has become co-opted by modern-day Hamans: radicals who wish to see Israel destroyed, and every Jew marginalized or worse. We must be brutally honest, no matter how much it hurts. No longer is this the party of FDR, Truman, Clinton, Rabbi Heschel, and Dr. King. Senator Chuck Schumer (who for decades called himself "the guardian of Israel”), Nancy Pelosi, and Democratic leaders have cowered and surrendered to the extreme left of the party in the form of three clearly anti-Semitic freshmen representatives: Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. And in their surrender, they have betrayed every Jew who has ever supported the Democratic Party. The freshman trio compares Gaza terrorists to civil rights activists; claims that "Israel has hypnotized the world” and is "evil”; defines Israel as "an apartheid regime”; and has demonstrated an almost worship-like reverence for anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan, who has called Judaism "a gutter religion.”

There was a time when the Democrats could be counted on to always support Israel, and to be intolerant of any form of anti-Semitism, and it was even a Democratic president who first recognized the State of Israel. But since the recent midterm election, not only has all support for Jews, Israel, and common decency been thrown out the window; but the leaders of the party have accepted the behavior of these bigots who would have our culture, religion, and nation of Israel destroyed. In January, Senator Schumer, supported by nearly the entire block of Democratic senators, backed down from supporting national anti-BDS legislation and refused to even discuss Senator Rubio’s proposed anti-BDS bill. Ocasio-Cortez thinks that Gaza terrorists are the moral equivalent of civil rights activists of the 1960s. Omar has made countless anti-Semitic comments, including the classic accusation that there is a Jewish cabal that has power over Washington because of "the Benjamins.”

Yet Nancy Pelosi stands proudly on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine with both of these anti-Semites. While Pelosi has semi-apologized for Omar’s many comments, she also placed the bigoted freshman from Minnesota on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, the very committee that has jurisdiction over bills relating to foreign relations and, as such, Israel. Despite calls for censure, Democratic leaders including Pelosi, House Majority Leader Hoyer, and House Majority Whip Clyburn have all determined that Omar "isn’t really anti-Semitic.”

The holiday of Purim recalls how Esther and Mordecai made sure that the king would no longer support the anti-Semitic hatred of Haman. As Jews, we must remind Pelosi, Hoyer, and Clyburn that as non-Jews, they are not the arbiters of what is or is not anti-Semitism. Both out of an ethical responsibility and to ensure our own survival in the world, we must remind Senator Schumer that being the "guardian of Israel” means standing up to the racist behavior of these three anti-Semites, condemning and censuring them, and stopping these racists from co-opting the entire Democratic Party with their hatred of us.

I am not suggesting that every Jew should now vote Republican, although that is one of the choices. And this suggestion has nothing to do with and no bearing on supporting or not supporting President Trump. This is about the health of the Democratic Party.

I am suggesting that we should emulate the courage of Mordecai and Esther. Every Jewish Democrat must take a clear stand and withhold all support until the party returns to its traditional values regarding Israel and anti-Semitism. The Democrats are convinced that no matter how they abuse us, we will not turn away. But we must step away, both with votes and finances, until the party puts a stop to the outrageous behavior on the part of this trio. The Democrats need to realize that by accepting this anti-Semitism, they will lose all of their Jewish support.

Oh, dear, how I wish this would happen! The entire article is here, and you might want to send this to your Jewish friends! https://pjmedia.com/faith/the-politics-of-purim-a-fitting-time-for-a-jexodus/

The World is coming to an end. Ho-hum, again?

Dana Mathewson

Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez is but one of many who have, within my lifetime, assured us that we're doomed. It hasn't happened yet, but that hasn't stopped 'em.

10 times 'experts' predicted the world would end by now

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, while selling her "Green New Deal," said that the world will end in 12 years if nothing is done to address climate change.

"Millennials and people, you know, Gen Z... we’re like: ‘The world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change,'"  Ocasio-Cortez said in January.

But similar past predictions – even by the most prestigious experts – have failed to pan out. Here are 10 of the biggest doomsday prediction failures:

Well, it wouldn't be a challenge if I gave you all ten. Here are a couple, then you'll need to go to the linked article.

1.–GLOBAL WARMING TO WIPE NATIONS"OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH" IF CLIMATE CHANGE NOT ADDRESSED BY YEAR 2000

In 1989, the Associated Press relayed a warning from a U.N. official:

"A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000."

The official was Noel Brown, director of the New York office of the U.N. Environment Program, who added: "Shifting climate patterns would bring back 1930s Dust Bowl conditions to Canadian and U.S. wheatlands.”

Instead, U.S. and global farm production rose, and more than 1 billion people worldwide rose out of extreme poverty due to economic growth.

No nations were "wiped off the face of the Earth” as of 2019.

However, those worried about warming caution that the U.N. official’s prediction was nuanced.

"He is not saying that entire nations are going to be wiped off the face of the earth by the year 2000,” Joe Romm, a senior fellow at American Progress, told Fox News.

"He is saying that if we don’t dramatically reverse emissions by the year 2000 — then we are not going to be able to avoid future flooding,” Romm said.

"It now seems inevitable that a number of island nations will be wiped off the face of the earth because we didn’t act in time,” he added.

According to NASA, global sea levels rose 3.5 inches in the 25 years since 1993, when it began reporting satellite data on sea levels.

The world’s lowest-lying country is the Maldives, a collection of Pacific islands with a population of just over 400,000, where the highest point in the country is 7.9 feet above sea level, with much of it below 3 feet.

2.–MASS STARVATION BY 1975

In 1967, a best-selling book came out called "Famine 1975! America’s Decision: Who Will Survive?”

It predicted mass starvation around the developing world due to increasing population. "Today’s crisis can move in only one direction – toward catastrophe,” it warned.

Some experts praised the book and ridiculed doubters.

"All serious students of the plight of the underdeveloped nations agree that famine... is inevitable,” Cal Tech biology professor Peter Bonner wrote in a 1967 review of the book in the prestigious journal Science.

The exact opposite of the book’s prediction happened. Famine deaths plunged dramatically as farming technology improved, communist countries began allowing private property again, and the globe became further connected.

According to a dataset put together by Our World in Data, more people died of famine in the single decade prior to the book’s release than in all 52 years since it was published.

Yet the book got widespread praise from experts. Ecologist Paul Ehrlich, now President of the Center for Conservation Biology at Stanford University, said in 1968 that the book "may be remembered as one of the most important books of our age.”
