Court Usurps Authority, Calls Trump's Defunding of Sanctuary Cities "Tyranny"

Timothy Birdnow

The Federal Judiciary is completely out of control; here is a case in point.

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals have overruled the Trump Administration's attempt to end Sanctuary City policies and have done so in the most egregiously activist way imaginable.

Illinois County Becomes Second Amendment Sanctuary

Timothy Birdnow

Effingham County, Illinois, a rather far-flung ex-urb of St. Louis, has declared itself a sancturary city for the Second Amendment.

Ninth Circuit Appoints Prosecutor to Overturn Trump Pardon of Sheriff Joe Arpaio

You may have seen this elsewhere. Perhaps they think Trump's already been impeached AND convicted, or that it's only a matter of time.

Frightening question!

Dana Mathewson

To think that this question can be asked right here in the United States is shocking. And I don't use that last word anywhere nearly as much as it is usually used these days.

"How long will I be allowed to remain a Christian?”

"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.

Climate adaptation, reparation and restoration

Paul Driessen

Tomorrow is Earth Day. I helped organize the very first Earth Day on my college campus back in 1970, when we had truly serious environmental problems – most of which we resolved in the ensuing years. This year, I suggest that we use the occasion to ask whether environmentalism has gone completely bonkers.

For just one reason why this is a legitimate question, look at Boulder, Colorado’s recent lawsuit against ExxonMobil and Suncor – for causing climate change that its legal team alleges will bring hotter and colder weather, wetter and drier weather, more snow in some years and less in others, wildfires, beetle infestations and other calamities that will cost the city millions in adaptation and mitigation expenditures. All because of the oil and gas that Boulder’s politicians and citizens have been happily consuming for over a century.

How a Market Crash Led to Calvary

Timothy Birdnow

Here is a fascinating essay discussing the political and financial motivations that led to the death of Jesus on the Cross.

In 31 a.d. Roman consul Sejanus was accused by the Emperor Tiberius of treason and subsequently executed - along with his entire family and most of his friends. Sejanus had been the head of the Praetorian Guard, a post he had passed along to one of his abler underlings, a man named Pontius Pilate, who was then sent to a very difficult post as governor of Judea.

Another reason NOT to move to Illinois, at least if you have school-age kids

Dana Mathewson

It must be something in the water. From Fox News:

Democratic lawmakers in Illinois have drawn up a piece of legislation that would give extra cash to schools that reallocate funds toward replacing armed security officers with unarmed social workers and behavior therapists. The controversial bill, proposed by Rep. Emanuel "Chris” Welch, D-Westchester, would offer grants to schools that use funds meant for school security and instead spend it on mental health services, including hiring social workers or implementing other practices "designed to promote school safety and healthy environments," as The Associated Press reported.

16 other Democrats in the House have backed Welch's plan. "This increased presence of law enforcement in schools does not necessarily enhance school safety," Michelle Mbekani-Wiley from the Sargent Shriver Center for Poverty Law told The Associated Press. "Instead it dramatically increases the likelihood that students will be unnecessarily swept into the criminal justice system often for mere adolescent or disruptive behavior."

A NOTE FROM TIM:

Now, many psychologists and therapists are a few cans short of a case themselves and so not only are the liberals wanting to leave schools unprotected they actually want to put people in there who are unstable. Great idea!  What could go wrong with that?

Oh, and while they are at it maybe they can hire chemists to make the school lunches for the kids. After all, if we are going to start turning everything inside out like that...

Small-Town County Takes on the NRA Boycotters

A WORD FROM JACK KEMP:

United Air delayed a veteran with PTSD 24 hours in finding a plane out of Chicago. They also did some other crap. This is virtue signaling by a bunch of sissy-boy airline execs who never commanded a real life dangerous situation in their lives.

For example, I was once in Yosemite near bears look for food handouts, standing next to 7 year old girl who stepped between a mama brown bear and her cubs. The bear made a quick move to gain the inside position and I then pulled the girl away from the . bear. Luckily, the mama bear wasn't threatened because the girl was small. I wasn't dumb enough to step between the bear and its cubs as a 21 year old adult. I wonder what these NRA fearing execs would have done if they were there in that situation.

Mueller the putz

Wil Wirtanen

Mueller's FBI repeatedly abused prosecutorial discretion.

A NOTE FROM TIM:

Mueller knowingly let a couple of men rot in jail when he was involved in the Whitey Bulger incident (where the FBI supported an Irish crime boss over the Mafia) when Bulger told him they were innocent. He also persecuted an innocent scientist named Stephen J. Hatfill for years when he botched the Anthrax investigation after 911, and he knew - or should have - that there was considerable doubt about the guilt of the man. Mueller is a willful, stubborn man who doesn't like to be wrong and doesn't care about the results of his actions on people. His motto appears to be "at any cost".

Finally, Republicans Demand Hillary be Investigated

Timothy Birdnow

Lawmakers have refered James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Hillary Clinton, and Loretta Lynch to the DOJ for criminal investigation. According to Fox News:

Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., and 10 other House lawmakers want an investigation into potential violations that cover everything from the handling of the Clinton email probe to the anti-Trump dossier’s funding to the Uranium One controversy. They made their case in a letter sent Wednesday to Sessions, FBI Director Christopher Wray, and U.S. Attorney John Huber, whom Sessions named to lead the previously announced evaluation.

Complaining about "dissimilar degrees of zealousness” in the investigations into Clinton and Trump campaign associates, they wrote: more...

Confirms what I thought I knew

Wil Wirtanen

According to The New York Times, it is "simply ludicrous" to question why a conservative book and a religious book, which are the No. 1 and No. 2 books, respectively, on every best-seller list other than that of The New York Times, do not even appear on The Times list.

Why Should Whites be Happy about Becoming a Minority?

Selwyn Duke

White people are finding it "difficult to adjust” to becoming a minority, goes the premise of a new AP history textbook — with the implication that this reflects some kind of character defect. Responding to this, conservative writers have generally denied the claim, sometimes calling it a "Marxist lie.” But a different point should be made.

Imagine that a history book presented European colonization of North America by asserting, with the same character-defect implication, that Indians found it "difficult to adjust” to becoming a minority. Would people be left scratching their heads? Might this even be called offensive? I think the only response really necessary would be "duh.”

Will Brennan and the Deep State Assassinate James Comey?

Timothy Birdnow

Now for a purely speculative tinfoil hat exercise.

"Not a good idea to piss off John Brennan"

Samantha Powers

March 17, 2018

Much ink has been spilled about the Deep State, and here Obama's former U.N. Ambassador, the woman who largely created his dreadful pro-Islamic foreign policy and promoted taking Muammar Khadaffi out in Libya and then tried to hide the failure when our Ambassador was murdered there by falsely blaming a video - is acknowleging the existence of said DS. Why is it a bad idea to piss off John Brennan, a man who is now a private citizen? Because once you are in you are in, and Brennan may not hold an official position but he certainly has lots of people who will still do what he says. In short, he's a dangerous man.

Brennan was a communist, or at least voted for the CPUSA when he was younger, so he has no love for any "reactionary" influences (like Donald Trump.) One of the great articles of faith among communists is that history always moves "forward" and cannot be allowed to roll back. Rolling back Obama's "accomplishments" is tantamout to sacrelige.
