Monica Lewinsky opens her mouth again

‘Culture of Exploitation’: Monica
Lewinsky Rips Roger Ailes and
Cable News in NYT Op-Ed

Following the death of former Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes last week, tributes were offered in print and on air both from likely, and perhaps unlikely, sources. But in the opening paragraph of a New York Times op-ed out Monday, Monica Lewinsky said that she did not plan to have her piece serve as another Ailes obituary. "It is, I hope, instead an obituary for the culture he purveyed — a culture that affected me profoundly and personally,” Lewinsky wrote. Calling it a "culture of exploitation,” Lewinsky blasted the environment at Fox News and other cable news outlets — where

Shouldn't someone tell her it's not polite to talk with your mouth full?

Lewinsky blames Roger Ailes for reporting the truth about her, i.e., not engaging in a coverup. She sounds like Hillary Clinton. Monica now talks like she wants to run for office - but she hasn't yet thrown her underpants into the ring.

One of the commenters on Lucianne.com made a musical reference by comparing Monica to this famous song from a Rogers and Hammerstein movie performance by Gloria Grahame...

READ THE REST AT MEDIAITE.

UPDATE:

Brent Bozell, a journalist I once did a video interview of when he organized a protest in front of the NY Times headquarters building, also has some cold water to throw on Lewinsky's self-righteous remarks in the NY Times. https://townhall.com/columnists/brentbozell/2017/05/24/roger-ailes-ruined-monica-lewinsky-n2331023?utm_source=thdaily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl&newsletterad=

Here are Bozell's conclusions:

Anyone who watched the news in 1998 knows thateveryonein the media covered the Lewinsky scandal relentlessly. So, by Lewinsky's standard, everyone in the media was guilty of bullying and hooking viewers and padding their profits. Halfway through, she admits Fox was not alone. So why single out Fox and Ailes?

SECTION OMITTED

Lewinsky complained that Fox took a poll in the first weeks of the intern scandal asking whether she was a "young tramp looking for thrills." That's blunt. But what other words does one use for an intern who Starr reported flashed her thong underwear at the married president of the United States at their first meeting and later performed oral sex for him? "Overachiever"?

Five days after his death, Monica Lewinsky accused Ailes of exploiting a "personal and national tragedy" for profit. She is a pathetic creature and the perfect foil for The New York Times.

Twin City Transit Cop Asks Rider's Immigration Status Part II

Jack Kemp

There's more to this.

In the comments section of the Star Tribune, people think this might have been a filmed setup to hurt police - and they also believe the passenger beat the fare to get on the Blue Line, that being why the officer questioned him. Commenters say that that illegals are constantly beating the fares on the Twin Cities trains.

CA Democrats too much for the Hive?

Dana Mathewso

This is really funny, and I know my brother-in-law will get a special kick out of it. Right, David?

One of the very best analyses of the group dynamic of the Left came from Tom Bethell and Joe Sobran years ago, when they referred to the Left as "The Hive.” Like bees or ants, the Left simply goes into action in a coordinated and instinctual fashion, without need to meet and plan. Naturally the mainstream media is a chief nest of The Hive, and it buzzes constantly on behalf of liberalism.

Hence California’s Bee newspapers—the Sacramento Bee and the Fresno Bee (both long time McClatchy properties)—are appropriately named nodes of conventional liberalism. You could rightly think of them as the Bee Hive. Normally you’d never pay any attention to their house editorials. But the Fresno Bee editorial page over the weekend took note of the spectacle of the recent California Democratic Party convention and found it was even too much for them:

Was Lieberman a Good Choice for F.B.I. Director?

Timothy Birdnow

I was underwhelmed by the selection of Joe Lieberman to run the F.B.I. and remains so in many ways. Lieberman was a lifelong Democrat and was in fact liberal, although he was a reasonable man, unlike the modern bare-knuckle brawlers currently running things. Still, he is not on our side and he also has no experience with such things. Why couldn't Trump pick a conservative? Or at least a strong law and order guy like Rudy Giuliani? I wanted John Bolton, but that was not in the cards.

In a conversation with Dana Mathewson I was wondering if Lieberman were a reasonable pick. Certainly he is a decent man, albeit quite liberal .He has been on the wrong side of the issues for most of his adult life. The extremists in the Democratic Party hate him for not going along with them over national security then refusing to step aside when they successfully primaried him. His nomination is sure to outrage the crazies in the base. The Democrats will have to find a way to reject Lieberman and not come off as witch hunters. It's going to be tough to do.

Lieberman is no longer in the Senate so it won't take a vote away from the Donkeys. Too bad (I had rather thought he was still there) but then the governor of Connecticut is a liberal Dem and would appoint an interim Senator anyway, so perhaps it would have been worse.

As far as I know, Lieberman has no experience in law enforcement. And Senators are usually poor executives, meaning he will be forced to rely heavily on his deputies - a bunch already seen to be corrupted by the Obama Deep State. We needed a lion; a Giuliani or a John Bolton. I fear Lieberman will not be able to get control of the Agency.

Politico points out the difficulties for Joe:

"But Lieberman’s relationship with Democrats is damaged. After he left office, he urged senators in his own party to reject Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran, infuriating Democrats. And his relationship with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Graham — the trio were known as the "three amigos” — tilted the Senate in a more hawkish direction during the first four years of Obama’s presidency. In 2008, Lieberman endorsed McCain over Obama for president.

"He has a history of angering Democrats and Republicans, which is probably a good experience for being FBI director. But my concern is about someone with a political background. This is a moment for someone with a law enforcement background,” said Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), who holds Lieberman’s old seat. "It’s really important to restore people’s faith in the FBI.”

Perhaps most surprising, Lieberman lacks support across the Democratic ideological spectrum. Moderates like McCaskill and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), who are up for reelection in 2018 and could face difficult votes if Lieberman is indeed the nominee, are not lobbying for the former centrist Democratic senator.

"Any other time, man, Joe is an excellent, excellent, choice,” Manchin said.

Still, many liberals flat out don't like Lieberman. In an interview, Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) fumed about Lieberman’s efforts to undercut more generous Medicare benefits in Obamacare and his relative closeness to Trump. After a monologue on Lieberman's faults, Brown ended by telling a reporter: "That’s all on the record.”

"Joe Lieberman has no real law enforcement credentials. Look where he works now, a Trump law firm. That tells me a lot,” Brown said, referring to the law firm where Lieberman now works that represents Trump. "

End excerpt.

But now they will have to trash a moderate, genteel individual, a man whose integrity has largely been unquestioned outside of the lunatic base of the Democratic Socialist Party.

I would like to see someone like Rudy Giuliani, a former prosecutor, or John Bolton, who was assistant Attorney General during the first Bush Administration. Bolton also has great foreign policy experience, and since the big issue of the day is "Russian collusion" Bolton would be the man to put in charge at this time. He bridges the two worlds.

But the Democrats would have a conniption. Frankly, we need the Democrats to have conniptions on a daily basis; it's the only way to keep them out of trouble. As long as the Demo/media axis can choose the time and place of attack the Trump Administration will be paralyzed by endless accusations of scandal, the old "when did you quit beating your wife" paradigm. Trump needs to give these people something of his own choosing to holler about. That's how you handle this sort of attack. Trump campaigned as George Patton, who famously called fixed fortifications "a monument to the stupidity of man" Patton was always about attacking, about barreling forward. Trump needs to take a page from his book.

I recently rewatched the move The Edge with Alec Baldwin and Anthony Hopkins. After a plane crash in the Alaskan bush Hopkins and Baldwin must walk out - with a man-eating bear stalking them. Hopkins explains how you hunt and kill such a formidable beast "you use it's weight against itself". Indeed, in a wild scene Hopkins kills the monster by enraging it then planting a spear in the ground just as the behemoth lunges to kill him. The result? A whole lot of dead bear lying on top of the man.

The bear's own weight killed it. That and it's blood lust. That should be a lesson to how to defeat the forces arrayed against Trump; you must control the timing of their attacks, leave a corridor open to them that they will follow then lead them to the deadfall where they will be killed. Naturally, we will have to do this over and over, and the "killing" will be embarrassing and repudiating them to the point that everyone in America sees them for the liars and hypocrites they truly are. This nomination of Lieberman may do that. But so would a nomination of a well qualified individual such as Giuliani, one well liked by the general public.

The one thing Trump cannot do is appease them. If he tries that (and he seems to have been trying it in recent weeks) he will be destroyed. Once they have you reacting to them you are beaten. You must take the Patton approach and attack.

So was this a good move? All in all I think yes, as a political maneuver. But Trump needs a firm hand on the tiller just now, and as long as the Democrat assistant head McCabe is running things Trump will be facing more leaks and innuendo. There needs to be a strong hand. Lieberman may be a good political move, but a bad choice for the actual job.

Twin Cities transit cop caught trying to ask a rider immigration questions

Jack Kemp

I don't see what's wrong with this - if the passenger were breaking the law. The so called artist who filmed this is acting as if breaking federal immigration laws is a right in Minnesota. It isn't.

Transit cop caught trying to be immigration police

A Minneapolis transit cop was caught on camera asking a train passenger about his immigration status — prompting the agency to launch an internal probe to determine if the officer stepped out of bounds.

The incident on May 14 was posted to Facebook by local artist Ricardo Levins Morales and shows an unidentified, part-time Metro Transit officer asking a passenger his name while checking for proof that he paid his fare.
"What’s your name?” the officer asks. "That’s not what you gave me. Do you have a state ID? Are you here illegally?”

VIDEO OF COP INTERROGATING RIDER IS AT THIS STORY'S WEBSITE

A NOTE FROM TIM:

Terrible, simply terrible; a policeman trying to enforce the law. Why, if that keeps happening it could get so bad people might start obeying it! Can't have THAT!

The Left's Progressive Pilgrimage

Fay Voshell

If anyone had doubts about progressivism being a religious movement, those doubts should be laid to rest by a recent article in New York magazine http://nymag.com/thecut/2017/05/new-york-highlights-equal-rights-destinations-in-campaign.html dedicated to promoting a pilgrimage of faithful liberals to secular shrines dedicated to "equality:”

"Need a spiritual vacation? A new ad and tourism campaign from New York takes you on a road trip through the state’s historic equal-rights monuments, from Manhattan’s Stonewall National Monument to Harriet Tubman’s home in Auburn. The campaign, announced today by Governor Andrew Cuomo, is running in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in New York State.”

The ad for the proposed pilgrimage of the faithful features a mother and a daughter visiting the home of Susan B. Anthony. The daughter’s worshipful gaze resembles that of an acolyte looking at a crucifix.

Some may recall St. Andrew Cuomo, who in a secular interpretation of St. Patricks’ expulsion of snakes from Ireland, attempted an exorcism of people who were pro-life and pro-gun from the sacred soil of New York.http://nypost.com/2014/01/18/gov-cuomo-to-conservatives-leave-ny/ If he had been able to put his threat into action as did kings of old, Cuomo, who considers himself Catholic even though he is almost violently pro-abortion, may have imitated Louis XIV’s revocation of the Edict of Nantes, effectively sentencing conservative and religious New Yorkers to exile or worse.

At the same time the newly established holy sites of progressivism are being promoted with an assiduity similar to priests’ promotion of the Christian ceremony of the stations of the cross, progressives continue their campaign to rid the South of anti-progressive graven images.

Pilgrims of the faith, masked and wearing bulletproof vests, are busy taking down offensive monuments. In New Orleans, a Jefferson Davis monument is now gone. A statue of Robert E. Lee is being removed from public view and put into a museum lest a monument to racism and lack of diversity offend passersby. It’s as if the honorable and brilliant Lee, who decided to fight for his homeland of Virginia, not slavery, was the equivalent of Saddam Hussein, Adolf Hitler, and Joseph Stalin all rolled into one. Evidently monuments to Northerner William Tecumseh Sherman are to remain in place, despite his contributions to total war, a concept anathema to faithful progressives.

What such activities amount to, of course, is erasure of history in order to reinforce what progressives see as the sole and only legitimate narrative of the South’s past and of history in general. For progressives, the South remains always in Deliverance mode, with inbred and degraded whites in remote regions of Georgia hanging on to cousin marriage, perversion, violence, and old time religion. Mississippi is always burning. The Bible Belt remains inherently racist.

It is not the first nor the last time competing paradigms of religious/political thought resulted in destruction of monuments deemed as representing heretical views. Jacobins plotted to blow up Notre Dame. French revolutionists succeeding in demolishing the great Abbey of Cluny while plundering its treasures. Bolsheviks destroyed icons and blew up Orthodox Russian cathedrals. Currently, ISIS vandalized the ancient city of Palmyra and destroyed one of the most ancient and venerated monasteries in the world. The Islamist organization also plotted to obliterate Notre Dame.http://thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/09/08/an-isis-plot-to-blow-up-notre-dame-cathedral-and-rule-the-world

One of the most recent ISIS inspired attacks involved the desecration of the ancient, historic church Of San Marino ai Monti, Italy by a Muslim immigrant from Ghana, whose rampage was recorded by the building’s security cameras. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sWmhV85uXo

A bit of history is in order, as attacks on monuments involve more than just the joy of smashing things. Attacks on historic monuments are attacks on the ideas, history, and peoples they represent. They involve the destruction of history and of cultural and spiritual paradigms that are foundational to a given culture.

The basilica of San Marino ai Monti the ISIS-inspired culprit vandalized was founded in the 4th century and initially was devoted to all the martyrs slaughtered for their faith during the centuries preceding the building of the basilica. It was within this ancient building a meeting in preparation for the Council of Nicaea was held in 324. The current building dates from the Carolingian era. It stands as a monument to the history of the Christian faith and to Christians themselves. The attack on San Marino ai Monti was clearly an attack against Christianity itself.

In a similar manner, here in the United State, the smashing or removal of monuments on which the Ten Commandments are engraved reflect an animus far deeper than sheer vandalism would indicate. Rather, the attempts to obliterate such monuments are actually efforts to symbolically and truly to destroy the Western foundations of law and morality centered in Judaism and Christianity. The ideology of progressivism is to prevail, and its rituals, pilgrimages, monuments, and statues are to replace what has been and continues to be destroyed.

Of course, tyrants never stop at destruction of monuments and statues. Symbolism is the spiritual language of real people, of humans who have strong and often unbending faith. The targeting of offending monuments is nearly always followed by targeting people. It was only a short time ago that ISIS sympathizers slit the throat of 85-year-old Father Jacques Hamel as he celebrated mass.

The last stage of persecution exemplified by attacks on and destruction and defacement of revered monuments historically is exile to the backwaters of civilization and/or the extermination of the peoples whose beliefs are represented by these monuments, be they statues of people whose beliefs are deemed offensive or documents or slabs with Ten Commandments written on them. Banning the Bible from public schools and the military, for instance, is followed by persecution of professing Christians. Creation of sacred spaces on campus means others are kept out, by force if necessary. Defacement and destruction of Jewish synagogues and grave sites presaged the increasing persecution of Europe’s Jews.

In the short and the long run, taking down the statues of Robert E. Lee, destroying slabs with the Ten Commandments engraved on them, plotting to blow up Notre Dame, destroying the city of Palmyra, and vandalizing Christian churches all have one impetus behind them: No voice or history other than one must be heard or read. Society must be a monoculture free of contradicting or opposing voices.

History has shown and current times still reveal what such monocultures look like and how their leaders behave. They look like Soviet Russia. They resemble Pol Pot’s Cambodia. They have the face of present day Cuba, Venezuela, and North Korea.

All were and are places where only memorials to tyrants were and are allowed. All were and are places where history -- in all its ragged glory and ignominy, with all its heroes and villains, in all its exaltations and degradations -- is erased in order that mere banality of evil prevail.

God forbid America would imitate such countries.

The Vacant Mind of a Cultural Iclown

Timothy Birdnow

Cher, the woman who caused Gregg Allman's wife to committ suicde, is outraged at Donald Trump's "cheating".

I kid you not.

From Billboard:

"The president is cheating and getting away with it, and using the White House to make money, and he’s going to take health care away from people, and people are going die. It’s outrageous"

End quote.

Now, Hillary Clinton was the one who received the debate questions in advance from Donna Brazil but Trump is the Cheater. Hillary is the one who sold the Russians one quarter of all American uranium for donations to the Clinton Foundation, but Trump is the crook. Did Trump ignore the judges orders overturning his travel ban, the way Obama ignored similar judicial injunctions? Did Trump have a server with no connection to the government official network, one that couldn't be tracked and couldn't be subpeonaed? Did Trump collude with his own party to cheat another candidate out of the nomination, as did Cher's one true love? Does Cher forget the Clinton Administration's selling of the Lincoln Bedroom for campaign cash, or "Chinagate" where they took illegal campaign contributions from a foreign powwer, one which then was able to develop ICBM's for their nuclear weapons thanks to a waiver issued by the Presidents men?

Oh, he colluded with the Russians to steal the election! Except there is no evidence of collusion, and no way the election was "stolen" anyway. At worst the Russians hacked the DNC computers and maybe John Podesta's e-mails. But there is no evidence of this except the word of a private business that was hired by the Democrats, and Podesta was a fool who used password as his password and probably clicked on a link entitled "penis enlargement" in violation of basic common sense. On the other hand Trump actually was
spied on by the Obama Administration.

How has The Donald personally profited from the White House? Anyone remember the Clinton's selling the Lincoln Bedroom?

and healthcare is doing precisely what Obama wanted; prices are rising through the roof, and that because the system was purposely designed to fail and usher in "single payer" aka socialized medicine. More people have died under Obamacare than in the quasi market system we previously had. Premiums are unaffordable and deductibles make it impossible to go to the doctor. With a 7 to 12 thousand dollar deductible, who can afford to go? Under the old system there were always charitable groups that made it possible to get treatment, be it at free clinics, the Shriners or St. judes, or for emergency services. But yessirree, we have healtcare insurance! Plenty of insured people, they just can't get treatment. Now that's fair!

If Cher is really worried about someone not being a good person she should look to her own beam-filled eyeball. She cheated on several husbands, caused the suicide of a married man's wife, and has generally been a destructive force. She used people to climb the ladder then kicked them off as she reached the next rung. She once called Sarah Palin a see-you-next-tuesday and prayed old people wold die so the left would triumph. As she stated to Billboard:

"You’ve got to pray that old people die before young people can get involved with the party.”

Now there's a sweetheart for you! And remember Bernie Sanders was one of those old codgers (much like her skankifariouos self) who the young people loved.

Cher was such a lousy mother her daughter became a dude. The poor girl so loathed becoming like cher she changed sex.

This isn't just to attack a social climbing singer, but to make the point that the loudest voices in the cultural bog are some of the worst. Cher has been on the scene for decades. She is a decent vocalist and o.k. actress, and had she stuck to that I would have no problem with her. But she is spitting in my face and half of the faces of half of this nation. She has no actual thought out positions either, but rather simply yaps like a leg-humping palace pooche. Why does anyone listen to her?

A big part of the problem in America is the entertainment industry. It is crawling with communists and fellow travellers, and as long as they continue to peddle their stupidity to unthinking minds (young people who do not know better but are enamoured of the faux glamour of all this) America will continue to slide. Culture is as important, if not more important, than politics.

A true draining of the swamp would start with people like this Crature from the Black Lagoon.

Why the West Antarctic Ice Sheet Collapse is not Caused by Global Warming

Helen Dyer forwards this:

The NY Times report is based on the two other studies and the whole apocalyptic report is based on a presumption that the global temperatures are going to rise catastrophically because of human burning of fossil fuels

There’s just a minor problem with all of this. None of these so called studies made any proof whatsoever on how the temperatures were going to rise. The article is based on a presumption the temperatures are going to rise. Their presumptions are based on the IPCC’s failed computer models showing carbon will cause warming.

I’ve just recently read that one of those IPCC models was written by a 17 year old student in Canada who is now standing for the greens in some upcoming Canadian elections.

The story focuses on West Antarctica where there is some melting. They don’t mention East Antarctica is freezing over having recently recorded record sea ice thicknesses. This is all consistent with the earth’s tilt and precession cycles. As the earth tilt changes, the polar ice caps have to move accordingly. It also fails to mention the NASA reports showing the Antarctic ice cap has been growing for 20 years and doesn’t mention Antarctic temperatures have been falling for 100 years.

The NY Times article refers to the study "Study Predicts Antarctica Ice Melt if All Fossil Fuels Are Burned”. This study refers to the subsequent study "Combustion of available fossil fuel resources sufficient to eliminate the Antarctic Ice Sheet”. This so called study states that CO2 residence time in the atmosphere is 10,000 years. That contradicts the attached recent study from the real scientists "Scrutinizing the carbon cycle and CO2 residence time in the atmosphere”. This states CO2 residence time in the atmosphere is 4 years and only 15% of all carbon in the atmosphere is from humans. The rest is natural. And since Carbon is only a very minor greenhouse gas, it is almost impossible that human emissions can have any effect on global temperatures.

So it’s all a great big catastrophic story about nothing.

Brendan

A NOTE FROM TIM:

There is active volcanism under the West Antarctic ice sheet, which also helps explain why the WAIS loses ice while the East sheet is growing. If Global Warming were causing the ice to melt it would not calve in this fashion, but rather would melt away. It's warming from the bottom. Now, much of the WAIS floats over the sea, but what does that mean? Antarctic waters are cooling, not warming, and the sea ice has been growing. Oh, the Gang green will argue the depths are heating and this is why the ice sheet is collapsing, but this is illogical; the Antarctic circumpolar current is a cold current that completely encircles the Antarctic, and it is a wide and deep current which prevents warm water from reaching the continent; it's why Antarctica is so cold, much colder than the Arctic, which benefits from some warm water entry.

The East Antarctic ice Sheet also lies on top of bedrock at a higher elevation while the West sheet is over lower land and in fact floats on top fo the ocean in large sections. The result is the larger, heavier East sheet puts pressure on the West sheet and forces it down into the ocean, where, after floating for a while, increasing pressure from above breaks off segments. It's much like a woman's fingernail breaking because she let it grow too long. Growth in the East sheet means more calving in the West. In short, the West sheet breaks more often when there is more ice, not less.

Bear in mind Antarctica remains below freezing the entire year; at McMurdo Station, a warm area on the coast, summertime averages are 26* F. and winter is -15. The interior gets much colder; -76* mean yearly temperature. It is far, far too cold in Antarctica to think ice shelf collapse is caused by warming air from a rise of perhaps 2 molecules of carbon dioxide per ten thousand molecules of air. (There are between three and four molecules of carbon dioxide in every ten thousand molecules of air - a trace gas, and only a fraction of that is caused by industrial emissions.) Do we really believe that ice sheet collapse is caused by THAT?

A Flea Goes to Crookland; Ammo Grrlll on the Deep State Crooks

Dana Mathewson

Warning -- a bit of salty language from the lady toward the end. She is pissed!

http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2017/05/thoughts-from-the-ammo-line-168.php

From the article:

"In the book (A Tree Grows in Brooklyn), there is a neighborhood candy store, run by a fat, creepy child molester. (No, not Lena Dunham; this was in 1912.) He runs a "game” in which a little board has several covered squares with prizes behind them from penny candy to a gorgeous doll prominently displayed. The child can choose a square for a small sum, a nickel, if memory serves me. But nickels were very hard to come by. In all the time Francie plays, she never wins the doll or anything else of value, and only loses her precious coins.

She grows up, is a modest success, and returns to the candy store. She has a couple of dollars now and, in front of witnesses, buys every square on the whole board, over the strenuous objections of the crooked candy store operator. As even I had figured out as a kid, there was NO DOLL behind any of the squares. It was just a cruel racket.

I was put in mind of that racket when we Deplorables won the Presidency, the House and the Senate. We had run the table, bought all the squares on the card! Surely, Conservatism would now have its way draining the swamp! Lucy can’t pick up the football forever, can she? Can she? At some point, shouldn’t Charlie Brown man up and just clock her? Oh, not with a bike lock or anything – that’s just legal for antifa fighters against free speech – just enough of a whack that she maybe wouldn’t do it again.

I do not expect miracles, especially in some silly artificial time limit like 100 days. But for the love of God where is the budget for The Wall? How are the bids going for the project? If money is "owed” to the criminal-protecting scofflaws in "sanctuary” cities or states, just don’t write the checks. How hard is that? Make the judge-shoppers who shut that down try to enforce it.

Here’s what I think: I think the main reason that dozens of self-serving, treacherous Republican elected officials lost their minds when the Deplorables got Trump the nomination was that they had no confidence that Trump understood how this giant con game was supposed to work.

Gas station Muslim assaults woman in "Michiganstan"

ack Kemp

From WND http://www.wnd.com/2017/05/assaults-on-women-free-speech-in-michiganistan/

Protests against Syrian refugees broke out in multiple states in 2015 and 2016, but the Obama administration doubled down on placement, particularly in California, Michigan, Ohio, Arizona and Massachusetts. Refugee resettlement has continued under President Trump but at a slower pace compared to the Obama administration.

A Muslim gas-station attendant in Troy, Michigan, faces charges of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct after he allegedly groped a woman who asked for his assistance with a credit-card reader.

Abdelnasser Mohamed, 25, allegedly assaulted a woman customer while working as a clerk at the Mobil Gas Station in Troy, Michigan, on May 4, 2017. Photo/Troy Police Department

Abdelnasser Mohamed, 25, was the clerk on duty at the Mobil Station at 25 E. 14 Mile Road in Troy when, at about 8:45 p.m. on May 4, he was asked for assistance by a female customer having trouble with the card reader. She reported to police that Mohamed touched her in the groin area and told her he would help her with the machine in return for a sexual favor. She escaped and called 911. He was arraigned May 5 and granted a $10,000 bond, then released on a 10-percent surety.
WND contacted the Troy Police Department Wednesday and asked for the suspect’s immigration status and was told the city does not ask for such information.

"I do not now his status. He was not asked, not that I’m aware of. We don’t ask people their immigration status. We ask other questions, such as place of birth,” Sgt. Megan Lehman of Troy Police Department told WND.
She told WND she would look up the suspect’s file and call back with his place of birth.
"The booking card is not in a place I can assess it through the computer I’ll have to pull the hard copy,” she said, agreeing to do so and call back with the information.

She never called back despite repeated phone messages.

Mohamed was described by multiple Michigan newspapers as simply "a Detroit man” or a "male employee” with apparently no inquiries into his immigration status or country of origin.

The name "Abdelnasser” means "conqueror” or "victorious” in Arabic and is common among Muslim families in Syria and the Palestinian territories, Arabic speakers told WND.

Michigan is among the top three or four states for receiving Syrian refugees, and Troy is the No. 1 destination city for Syrians arriving weekly in the state.

Since the Syrian civil war broke out in 2011, nearly 2,200 Syrian refugees have been distributed throughout Michigan, with Troy getting 657, followed by 481 sent to Clinton Township, 387 to

And that’s just part of the story that some see as an outgrowth of the rapidly changing culture in Michigan. Others say free speech — the right to criticize Islam — is being squelched in the wake of the arrests last month of two Detroit-area doctors for the horrific crimes of female genital mutilation.

Government hand outs at work, no pun intended.

Wil Wirtanen

From the Desk of Ernie Goss

http://economictrends.blogspot.com/

Incentives for Not Working Expand 3 Times
That of Incentives to Work

Despite earning $5,000 per month, Chris Jones, a single father of two children under 10 years of age, living and working in Santa Fe, New Mexico, quit his tech support job at IT Solutions on September 1, 2016. It was a good financial move.

By quitting early Jones qualified for the earned income tax credit (EITC) and a host of other government support payments unavailable to him if he had worked the full year and earned $60,000.

By leaving the labor market, he now qualified for 2016 benefits of food stamps or SNAP of $2,044, EITC of $974, and New Mexico rental assistance of $1,636. Additionally had Jones continued to work, he would have paid an additional $3,120 in federal income taxes, $980 in state income taxes, $1,200 in social security taxes, after-school day care of $3,852, and family health insurance of $1,200.

In total, assuming a 40-hour work week, Jones would have earned a paltry net $9.60 per hour for the remaining four months of 2016 compared to his $31.25 per hour for the first 8 months of 2016.

Given the myriad of economic incentives for not working, it is not surprising that in 2016, the percentage of the population over age 15 in the labor force dropped to its lowest level since 1976.

Broker Predicts Ten Million Armed Citizen March on D.C. if Trump Impeached

Dana Mathewson

From "Friend Eddie." I wager there are some ideas herein that haven't occurred to you yet.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-05-17/10000000-people-will-march-washington-if-they-impeach-trump-they-will-be-armed-no-ki

From the article:

"10,000,000 people will march on Washington if they try to impeach Trump... they will be heavily armed. I will be one of them. No kidding

[...]

"The truth is, while our pseudonymous contributor is given to outrageously couched statements, he has picked up on something that is close to our hearts. You can see it in how polls are just wrong consistently. And to us that is explainable. The statistical world relies to heavily on polls. Polls are merely "snapshots' of moments.

What is not revealed in polls is the subjectivity of the person being polled!. We know the bias of pollsters. But what has been ignored for years is subjective probability. That concept relates to trends when humans are involved.

Do you think people are going to be honest with pollsters anymore? No, they say what you want to hear so they can move on. Voting is very private. And people are taking back that privacy. On a broader scale, subjective or conditional probability includes drifts or trends. Nassim Taleb is a key proponent of this, and we count him as a genius in taking his options knowledge and applying it to many fields in need of improvement. We also enjoy his lambasting those dogmatists that do not get it. Jim Rickards is another subscriber to Bayesian theorems."

[...]

"What are the Odds of a DC March if a Populist President is Impeached?

Can we afford to ignore "Bon", our colleague who is quite sane, does not represent the lunatic fringe, and is intimately aware that while Trump may not be a beltway darling, he has governed through populism.

Witness how Trump castrated the media with his "Fake News" press conference. He literally made people reject the MSM info as false and further likely turned people off to even looking at it.

He effectively put them in a box where they could not sell their wares anymore.

This is no easy task. Winning elections via populism is easy game. But actually governing that way is not easy. We'd dare say, it has not been done ever in a Republic.

So here we are. A populist-ly elected President who has thus far governed through populism. A president with a loyal following that is likely to not take an unconstitutional impeachment sitting down. Trump will not go quietly into the night. He will appeal to the public. He is a narcissist. And to his credit, narcissists are all about winning popularity contests.

And against him are now the legal types who will use the Constitution to undermine it.

To Bon we joked:

"To get you and your pals to disburse, all we have to do is kill the wifi."

To which he responded:

That isn't enough. You may get some to go home with Beer bribes, but the core people mean business. They will not stand for this"

Wesley Pruden hits the nail on the head, as he always did

One more before I go to bed. Pruden is, as you know, the editor emeritus of the Washington Times -- yes, DC has a REAL newspaper -- and this article shows why he had such a great career there and still writes occasionally.

Texas Judge is not a Citizen - Keeps Job

Timothy Birdnow

Here is an example of how America is crumbling; a judge in Texas has been found to not be a U.S. citizen (she's an asian and not a Latino) and she gets to apply for citizenship and keep her job. So, she openly lied on her application forms and yet is not to be punished. Meanwhile, her rulings stand.

The average American will be fired for lying on any job application. If you hide an arrest for a traffic violation you can be terminated. But some are more equal than others in this corrupt nation, and the most equal of all are those who should not even be here.

Fake News Now Claims Trump Hates his Wife

Timothy Birdnow

An article in AOL condemns Donald Trump based on his "body language" toward his wife.

Here is the pertinent passage:

"A photo of the couple disembarking Air Force One on April 18 reignited debate over his alleged disregard for the first lady.

The viral photo shows the president saluting people at the bottom of the airplane's stairs while Melania is still descending far behind him."

?????????

The man is PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES for crying out loud; what do they expect? OF COURSE he's going to go down the ladder before his wife, and ignore her while saluting officers on the ground! Sheesh!

Was this same standard ever applied to Obama, or to the Clintons? There are plenty of photographs showing less than a loving relationship between both former Presidents and their wives - most especially Clinton, who probably doesn't even tolerate Hillary except when in public. The hypocrisy is astonishing.

I have never witnessed such hysterical hatred by the media in my life, and I saw the treatment (now largely forgotten) of Ronald Reagan.

Naive Conservatives Defend Appointment of Special Counsel

Timothy Birdnow

More proof that many good conservatives still don't get it.

This piece in American Thinker by Raymond and Howard Richman displayes the naivete' that has been the bane of our side for as long as I have been alive.

From the article:

"Rob Rosenstein, Trump's new deputy attorney general, did the Trump agenda a huge favor on Wednesday when he appointed former FBI director Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate the Trump-Russia connection.

His action has already taken the wind out of the Democrat media's sails. They were running story after story in an attempt to keep the pretend scandal on the front pages. Now they must await the outcome of the investigation. Congressional investigations will also be put on hold, so as to avoid interfering with the special counselor's investigation.

The press will be forced to cover Trump's groundbreaking trip to the Middle East. They will be forced to report the new job-creating trade deal with Saudi Arabia and the new alliance that Trump is shepherding among Israel, Egypt, Jordan, and the Gulf Arabs against Iran and ISIS. Trump will come home from the Middle East a hero.

Our prediction of a positive outcome runs counter to the opinion of knowledgeable Trump supporters Dick Morris and Pat Buchanan. Both predict a negative outcome based upon their past experiences with independent prosecutors. Some Trump underling could even find himself falsely convicted of perjury (as was Scooter Libby, by the last special prosecutor)."

End excerpt.

You may now scrape the contents of your cranium back in.

The Richmans cannot possibly believe that this will "take the wind out of the Democrat Media sails." Why should it? This has been a content-free attack from the get-go, and appointing a special counsel is not going to change that. They aren't going to wait for a report, because they knew all along that there is no there there. There are going to be leaks, and even if there are no leaks from the investigation itself that will not stop the media from making their own. This is only going to force them to redouble their efforts.

It will also only lead to mission creep for Mueller, a man who did not displease the Demo-props at aall. See my blogpost here to understand why I do not trust the Mueller investigation. Even if Mueller does a truly good job he will likely keep having things piled on as the media, now free from the drudgery of daily assaults in this particular field, can open new cans of worms. In modern America you are either advancing or rretreating, and if you are not on the offensive you are going to be destroyed. The Republicans have allowed themselves to be forced into retreat.

That is the sad reality; if you give an inch they will be a ruler, and one must never, ever acquiesce to the demands of the Democrats or the Media. Ever. It's like making a pact with Satan; you are going to lose no matter how clever you believe you are being. There is only one way out of such a pact, and that is to renounce it altogether. The GOP is still unwilling to accept this reality, that they cannot hope to even survive withoout standing their ground. It's why Trump was elected in the first place.

Republicans like the Richmans are still stuck in the 1950's model. Tlhey don't understand this is war, not a gentleman's disagreement. And they ignore history here, as they themselves freely admit.

"Our prediction of a positive outcome runs counter to the opinion of knowledgeable Trump supporters Dick Morris and Pat Buchanan. Both predict a negative outcome based upon their past experiences with independent prosecutors. Some Trump underling could even find himself falsely convicted of perjury (as was Scooter Libby, by the last special prosecutor).

But the difference here is that the 72-year-old Mueller is close to retirement, so he does not need to take scalps to further his career. Furthermore, no crime has been committed (except by Trump opponents who leaked and published classified data)."

End excerpt.

Balderdash; John Glenn rolled over for the Donkeys when he was an old man in order to get one last moment of glory. In 1996 he ran interference on the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations to block any probe into Chinese illegal campaign donations to the Clinton campaign, and was dutifully rewarded with one last space mission, when the man was 77. Look, people simply don't want to go away from Washington. They love the glory and the power and the money and prestige. Why is Mueller, a man who has been tethered to Washington all his life, any different?

The Richmans also believe the media, having been denied the daily drumbeat, will be forced to cover real successes by Trump. What have they been smoking? They will only be freed up to seek other scandals, or to find ways to belittle and deman Trump and his Administration.

If you are not advancing you are retreating.

The Richmans predict Trump will be exonerated and within six months. I doubt that; it will take six months for Mueller to even get his organization built and running. And exonerated? Half of the GOP want this guy taken down. Meanwhile there will be attacks on subordinates who are effective, and while Mueller may not charge Trump he very may well go after many of Trump's people for process crimes. This will only add to the media frenzy, as it will be"proof" of Trump's "corruption".

That's how they did it with Nixon, how they tried to do it with Reagan, and Bush Jr.

As I say, one never makes a pact with the Devil but, as the Good Book says, one must resist the Devil and he will flee from you. The stupid GOP had better realize that they are going down - all the way down - with Trump, like it or not. And the only way out of this is through the fire with him.

Why is Preibus still Chief of Staff?

Timothy Birdnow

I have a question; given the leaking that is coming from inside the White House, one must ask why Trump has not fired Reince Preibus yet? In business if you had an analagous situation, if, say, a brokerage firm, had important information leaking to competitors the guy in charge would be forced out. It's standard business practice; action taken, confidence restored. Trump comes from just such a business perspective. Preibus is the White House Chief of Staff and so is the responsible party. He should be canned.

Why hasn't he been?

While Preibus stood with Trump and his loyalty is worth appreciating, I have never trusted Reince, who comes out of the Establishment wing of the GOP. But even if he is trustworthy, the fact is he is failing to plug the leaks coming from his own people. At the level Preibus is playing results are what matter, and he simply isn't getting them.

Isn't it time for him to go?
