Amy Berman Jackson has refused to disqualify herself from ruling on Roger Stone's request for a new trial. The Defense argued she has exhibited bias.
Here is her response:
Really?
It seems to me a predawn raid on an old man's home by an army of FBI agents and news media is more concerning than the braggadoccia of an eccentric crank? Sending this man away for a process crime is protecting our Constitution and the Rule of Law?
In point of fact he was the sacrificial lamb to justify the Mueller probe. Like G. Gordon Liddy during the Nixon era Mueller needed a victim to frighten others into cooperating with his witch hunt investigation. To get that he needed to throw the book at some helpless person. The abrasive and careless stone offered a perfect target.
So what was Stone charged with? According to Fox News:
Now Stone had boasted of having good relations with Julian Assange and Wikileaks, but told Congress he wasn't involved. No further proof was offered than that that Stone perjured himself. Stone is the type of person who often runs off at the mouth.
And as for witness tampering, Stone told radio host Randy Credico to "do a Frank Pantangelli, a reference to the mob boss in Godfather II who kills himself rather than testify against Don Corleone. Referencing a movie is witness tampering? Does anybody really believe Stone meant it?
Meanwhile the real perjurers and witness tamperers are walking around scott free. The President observes:
Indeed it is. Nothing Stone did was unusual in the politics of modern America and in fact it seems doubtful he actually DID anything illegal. He's just a fool with a big mouth.
In fact, he's a political prisoner, imprisoned by people who are enraged at having been turned out of power. Amy Berman Jackson AKA A BJ is doing precisely what she accuses Roger Stone of doing, circumventing the Constitution for political ends.
In point of fact, at least one of the jurors was clearly biased and had no business sitting on that jury.
Amy Jackson Berman shrugs this off, saying the jury was fine because they showed up on time. Right.
Jury Forewoman and former Democratic candidate for Congress Tameka Hart tweeted bitterly anti-Trump material prior to and during the Stone trial.
And on the day of his conviction she tweeted two heart emojis and two pump-fist emojis to celebrate the great victory over which she presided as a juror.
But she showed up on time and was attentive, making her a fine juror, according to the Obama-appointed Amy Berman Jackson.
And while a BJ had the sense to disregard the near decade of imprisonment asked for by the prosecutors (so he would die in prison) she never dressed them down for that or said it was outlandish. In point of fact, she stuck with sentencing guidelines so as to avoid being overturned on appeal. That will force Trump to pardon Stone, something that will be helpful for the Democrats.
This whole thing is a disgrace.
