America Disproves Communism

Warner Todd Huston

Anyone who supports Marxism should have no credibility whatever. This political scheme has been around for more than 130 years and has not worked even a little any where it's ever been tried. But consider the U.S.A. as the definitive dispositive proof...

Marxists say that capitalism only "works" because the rich steal everything from the poor and then oppress the poor to keep them from doing anything about it.

But facts don't lie.

Today, the U.S. has more billionaires than Africa and the Middle East combined. By the Marxist reckoning, that would HAVE to mean that the U.S. would have the poorest poor in the entire world. Yet, the standard of living for our poorest people in the U.S. is somewhere around the lower middle class for much of the rest of the world. So, by the numbers, America's poor are by far better off than the poor in the rest of the world. Plus our middle class is bigger than near every other region in the world.

The U.S., for all its faults, proves that the Marxist claims are all lies.

It's just that simple.

Tim adds:

And if one looks at how quickly the average man can rise in American society, and how well our poorest live, one must conclude that the capitalist model works and the Marxist does not. America is just lousy with millionaires, and those who aren't are usually pretty well off. We have a large, vibrant middle class. None of this makes any sense when viewed through the Marxist prism of class warfare and economic exploitation.

1 This nails the whole thing very nicely. At least, it does for those who want things to make sense. But that, apparently, is a shrinking portion of the country. And kids in school aren't being taught any of this.

I believe it was someone who worked in the Margaret Thatcher administration who, when asked what the appeal of socialism was, responded that "socialism appeals to mediocrities." I wish I could remember just who it was who said that, and I wish I had his entire quote. But he certainly knew what he was talking about.

3 To those who claim that capitalism is evil. The United States in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s produced unparalleled prosperity for the working and middle classes. The economic system under which it did that was capitalism.

4 A hearty amen to THAT Bill!
