SOME Biden defenders are challenging his effect on energy costs. Some facts:

Gas was soaring way back in Dec. He released 50 million barrels (a drop in the ocean) from our Strategic Reserve - long before Russia. In Nov. he passed new regulations governing methane emissions from oil and gas production, transmission, storage, and distribution that would cost more than $10 billion a year. Biden’s first action after taking office was to halt new oil and gas leases on federal lands and waters. The administration canceled the Keystone XL pipeline and suspended oil and gas leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and New Mexico (despite opposition from the Navajo Nation). He also resurrected the "Waters of the United States” rule, which increased barriers to energy projects. In April 2021, without the consent of Congress, Biden rejoined the Paris agreement, which will result in onerous new regulations that raise energy costs; and exempts China, Asia, India and Africa, the biggest polluters. Biden forced every U.S. state to develop state carbon-reductio n plans that must be approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation as well as be updated every four years. He has finalized a new rule regulating greenhouse gas emissions from cars and trucks. That single regulation will raise the average vehicle price by $1,000. Biden issued a rule to phase out a common, inexpensive refrigerant. This is a 'de facto' tax on air conditioning and refrigeration. He created the 'Civilian Climate Corps', which would Federally fund the salaries of tens of thousands of anti-energy activists who would perpetuate high energy costs by demanding new and costly federal regulations and legislation. He also pressured the banks to refuse loans to oil companies to defund them. And he said we would ban gas-powered cars by the end of the decade, which was guaranteed to get investors out of the oil and gas market. He further angered the Saudis over the murder of Kashoggi, and also by reinvigorating the Iran nuclear deal, so they are content to allow the prices of oil to rise. And while Biden's administration has approved some leases (he was ordered by the courts to do so) he has done it in a way to prevent any drilling. It generally requires a number of permits to open a new well, and Biden will approve just one and keep the projects held up. He also refused permits to a new refinery, the first one to be built in years. And don't get me started on coal! Or nuclear.

2  Oh just the opposite . Hes done everything in the lefts playbook to choose for the consumer what they should buy and whats best for them. Its another freedom lost. Come hell or high water they intend to put an end to fossil fuel use. And gasoline  powered anything is first to go.

4 But they ignore all the other uses for "fossil fuels," including agricultural fertilizer and the manufacture of plastics, which even most cars are made of these days -- including their precious electric cars.

It's just proof that liberals NEVER think things all the way through.

5 Dana, I don't think they ignore that. Rather, this is part of the overall plan to create a globalist system. They want places like China to achieve parity with the U.S. and the rest of the West, and to do that they have to hamstring us in favor of places like China. Banning oil drilling not only stops our cars but also prevents us from making our own plastics and other things. Then we have to buy them from these Third World countries. It's all part of the plan to make us interdependent and reliant on foreign countries so we can put an end to war.

Look at how it was done in Europe to create the E.U.; that is the template. France tied Germany's economy to them through a series of treaties and economic partnerships. There hasn't been a European war since - but at what cost? There isn't really a France or Germany anymore either.
