I was listening to a guest host on the Brian Kilmead radio program today. A caller argued that Trump called Elizabeth Warren Pocahontas was racist. His thinking? It is intended as a pejorative so is a slur on all Native Americans.

Nonsense; it is indeed intended as a pejorative, but it is making fun of WARREN, not Indians, and not women. WARREN is the one who mocked Native Americans by falsely claiming to be one, and using that to get ahead. Trump - and the rest of us - are mocking her for being a liar. I can't imagine how any honest person could argue otherwise.

Incidentally, her real name was Matoaka when she was young and Amonute when she grew up. Pocahontas was a nickname meaning "little wanton". She changed her name to Rebecca when she became a Christian. Pocahontas was primarily a white man's name for her.

Also, I heard it argued that Conservatives should not be so quick to defend a state of emergency being declared on the border because a Democrat President might declare guns a national emergency and use the broad powers granted under that to take away firearms.

This is comparing apples and oranges; the President is specifically tasked with defending the nation's security and he is the sole authority where enforcing border laws are concerned. We have those laws on the books already. Gun control is an entirely different matter; we have a Constitutional Amendment specifically guaranteeing our right to keep and bear arms. We have numerous other laws that devolve from the Second Amendment. It would be not just overreach, but a tyrannical power grab to try to use the state of emergency powers to grab guns. I suspect the Courts would be forced to strike this down.

In one case the President is fulfilling the law, in the other he would be usurping it.

I really don't know how this can be any plainer.

One final thought; liberals are outraged, OUTRAGED, that the Administration wants to ask people if they are legally here or not. Funny; they are the ones who demand we register our guns and ourselves with Uncle Sam, accuse us of being terrorists. while at the same time think nothing of allowing people who do not belong here to determine the number of Congressional Districts we have, and the final resting place for federal funds. They want gun registration, they want a list of "potential domestic terrorists" be kept on Pro-Lifers, returning military, Libertarians. They are the ones who oppose tax reform, demanding we produce this voluminous tax return to give the government detailed information on our livelihoods and assets. They are the ones who demand They are the ones who want us to register our "carbon footprint" and account for every time we exhale. In fact, Obama's NSA regulary spied on Americans in violation of American rights. Funny how the Democrats weren't concerned about privacy in this instance.

Their outrage waxes a bit hollow, if you ask me.
