Retirements are being processed by hand in a deep mine shaft in Pennsylvania and put in manilla envelopes! Just 700 troglodytes processing papers 200 feet below ground! (It's closer to Hell which no doubt is why they are there.)

As a (now retired) systems analyst and occasional systems designer, I'll be honest: I would not want the job of computerizing that retirement system no matter how much you paid me! It involves too much data with too many formats from too many years. People say that Obama-era people couldn't do it, and for once I'm not going to castigate Zippy's people; surprise!

But Dana couldn't they digitize all new hires and slowly winnow out the old ones? Apparently they haven't done this.
And why down in a mine shaft? Do they envision themselves as Batman?

That's the way I'd try to do it, but I'm sure the gummint would want everybody included all at once.
As far as WHERE they do it, who the hell cares?

It's not the place per say but the antiquated nature of all this that is disturbing. It's not like they don't have the money to build a secure facility.
Frankly I think they're just batty.
