2 It has served its purpose anyway. It got the votes that the Democrats wanted. They didn't care about actually doing it, they just cared about getting votes for the announcement.

Bill, you are right; it did what they wanted it to. And now it will have done what it was intended to accomplish, getting young dumb voters to sell their souls to the Democrats.
