I wrote about how a lone circuit judge in st. Louis stayed the closure of the last abortion mill in Missouri largely personal opinion. Well, in the hearing that followed the state of Missouri wanted to subpoena the medical doctors at Planned Parenthood to force them to testify in court about violations of state law by the killing factory and the judge has ruled they may not call these witnesses.
According to CBS News:
"The non-parties have shown that compliance with the subpoenas would present an undue burden and hardship on [the non-Planned Parenthood physicians] and that the subpoenas should be quashed," Judge Michael Stelzer wrote on Tuesday.
Huh? It's an undue burden to testify about unlawful practices, but it is NOT an undue burden to rip a baby out of the womb of her mother? Would this judge rule the same way if this case involved, say, the murder of a gay rights activist? Of a black homeowner who was murdered in a white neighborhood? Somehow I think he would believe the seriousness of the charge required witnesses, but not in this case.
If abortion really is a right as the proponents claim, why not have all voices heard in the debate? Surely a right would be self-evident. Strange how this supposed right to an abortion is NOT self-evident, nor is it self-evident that there is any provision in the Constitution. In other words, it's what some people want and the Constitution - and Natural Law - be damned.
