The NAACP is promoting the Orwellian idea of "implicit Bias Testing" for public employees.

Hot Air has the story:

"NAACP President Derrick Johnson wrote a piece for USAToday yesterday announcing that his organization was calling for mandatory implicit bias testing for all public officials. Implicit bias testing is a method which claims to be able to detect subconscious bias within individuals’ thought processes (more on that in a moment). While Johnson didn’t call for mandatory testing of everyone, he thinks testing everyone is a good idea.

Everyone should get tested for implicit bias, and if you’re a public official or receiving public dollars — it should be mandatory. It’s just a matter of time before another black person is abused, arrested, or shot dead for flying, golfing, driving, walking or drinking coffee "while black.”… end excerpt.

Ye cats! There is a lot in that.

First, the Civil Rights Act was promoted as purely a tool to guarantee that minorities were not denied basic civil rights, and it was argued at the time that it had nothing to do with private bias or beliefs. The NAACP and other "civil rights" activists have now changed the mission from guaranteeing fairness in public policy to thought control, to demanding people not just behave a certain way but think the way they want them. In point of fact,l being a bigot is a civil right, one protected as much by the fourth amendment as anything. Being secure in your person, papers, and effects means first and foremost being secure in your own skull. That's not to mention the First Amendment, which is the right to free speech, meaning the right to freedom of thought. And the "penumbra" that liberal Justices found to justify abortion most assuredly containes a right to think as you choose. But none of that seems to matter to the race hustlers, who are not content with equal opportunity, or equal access, but demand they be loved and celebrated. It's a common left wing trait; demanding not just tolerance but devotion.

Second, one must ask, will this extend to potential bias among minorities against white people or men? You and I both know the answer to that. Protections of civil rights always seem to be a one way street, and those of us in the majority (or men, a minority in our own case, or Christians, the despised ones) must accept their role and be run over by the civil rights train. There will be no punishment for minority bigots, just as there are hardly ever prosecutions of minorities for hate crimes, even when the perp openly tells the victim he hates white people and that's why he's stoving the fellow's head in. See, blacks or other minorities can't be racist, according to the race hustlers, because they don't have power. Well, not being prosecuted means they have all sorts of power. In fact, they are officially a protected class - read the civil rights laws. That is power o-plenty.

None of this is about a fair shake but about promoting blacks to positions over whites ie. Black Supremacy.

The Hot Air article goes on to explain how this would work; corporations and government would be forced to test employees with the Harvard Implicit Association Test, something that has proven unreliable with unrepeatable results. But that does not really matter; what should matter, what MUST matter, is that psychologists would be able to condemn Americans to poverty based on what they think. That is the penultimate tyranny.

The article concludes solidly:

"Finally, there’s the whole creeping fascism of this suggestion. What the NAACP is promoting here is testing everyone for having bad unconscious thoughts and then retraining their brains in some yet-to-be-determined manner. Do we really want the unconscious mind to become a subject of mandatory public policy? That’s a road we don’t want to go down as a society. Ed wrote a post last month about China’s plan to give all 1.4 billion Chinese citizens a "social credit score.” The goal, as described by CBS News, was to purify the country:

The government says it is trying to "purify” society by rewarding people who are trustworthy and punishing those who are not, reports CBS News correspondent Ben Tracy. So like the credit scores most Americans have based on how they handle their finances, Chinese citizens are getting a social credit score based on everything from whether they pay their taxes on time to how they cross the street to what they post online.

Say what you want about the Chinese Communists but at least they seem to be limiting their autocracy to what people put out in public. What the NAACP is calling for is far more intrusive. It’s not just what you say online it’s what your unconscious is doing that the government (and industry) needs to confront. George Orwell must be rolling in his grave.

Hitler, Stalin, Mao, every tyrant, every Czar, Emperor, or Khan has only dreamed of being able to test what people think and control even their unconscious thoughts. The NAACP is proving itself worse than the worst tyrants in history. And in the end this will backfire on them; eventually another minority will supplant them and then black people will learn all about how wonderful "white privilege" really is.

By the way, there is no such thing as being unbiased. Everyone thinks his family, his group, his nation is best, and only a monumental fool tries to be unbiased, because in this world we never see the same situation twice and we HAVE  to base our reactions to situations on models from the past, just as climate alarmists base their predictions of doom on inflexible, two dimensional models. But in the real world there is no margin for error, and even Jesse Jackson said that he was relieved when he heard footsteps behind him on a dark street and turned to see it was a white person. Why?  Because he knew black people were much more likely to mean him harm, to victimize him. That is a model, based on past experience. If we stop having bias we start doing all manner of dangerous and ridiculous things, like walking through East St. Louis at night, or trying to pet wild alligators, or whatnot. And even if the police stop profiling thanks to this brilliant suggestion the number of arrests of black people will likely not go down. In fact, they may go up. So the order will come down to stop arresting blacks to not embarrass the program - like the order went down in Broward County to stop arresting teenagers there to not mess up the PROMISE program. In the end worse will happen.

But who cares?  We can all die together knowing we showed our virtue. That is apparently all that matters.
