We're supposed to believe that renewable power is the bees knees, and hydro electric power is as renewable as it gets. Yet there are groups dedicated to removing Dams around the country:
"Don’t go chasing waterfalls. In 2023, the advocacy group American Rivers announced a goal of removing 30,000 US dams by 2050 for reasons that mirror what’s happening with the Klamath River. The number of projects to remove the antediluvian dams should continue to rise as a result of 2021’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which freed up funding for the removal of at least 54 dams.—DL"

KRRC’s job is to take ownership of four PacifiCorp dams—JC Boyle, Copco No. 1 & No. 2, and Iron Gate—and then remove these dams, restore formerly inundated lands, and implement required mitigation measures in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Destructive Individualism

The problem for western civilisation in particular is that individualism was the engine of its growth to dominance, not collectivism. Now it has a kind of bastard individualism controlled by collectivists. So, you are allowed destructive individualism, but not productive individualism. The first makes you a weak person more easily controlled by others, so is encouraged by a corrupt ruling class. The second makes you a threat to that class, as you are independent of them in your thinking and also in your ability to sustain yourself.
That is why people are encouraged to see drug use as cool, or sexual depravity as freedom, or abortion as a right. All these are self destructive. But it’s also why at the same time the State wants to control what you are allowed to say, whether you take a vaccine, what your children learn etc. It’s why an independent wealth producer gets attacked (farmers, small shop owners etc) but everyone can sit at home producing nothing and get welfare. The selfish freedoms can be sold as individualism, but serve a malign collectivism.
When you talk about collectivism in a positive sense, you aren’t talking about the collectivism that exists. Collective identity that is organic and positive (like the Roman virtues or Roman sense of loyalty to Rome) were organic. All patriotism is of this kind, a natural outgrowth. But the collectivism of the modern world isn’t organic. It’s bureaucratic, imposed, more like Stalinism or State-Corporate alliance fascism.

Arguing with Idiots: Atheism Edition

On Facebook I have an argument with an atheist over the meaning of the First Amendment and why atheists are so gung-ho on removing religion from public life.
I ask:
Why spend money to sue to force Christians to remove crosses from public view, for instance? WHO CARES if it's alljust superstition? Me thinks they doth protest too much.
This triggered an atheist named Lowell who thought to "correct" me:
The 1st Amendment forces a separation between church and state, and when the Government (state, local) is obnoxious in pushing that.... A number of people, including Christians, find that obnoxious.
I reply:
Lowell Morrison You just proved my point; why do YOU care? Thou doth protest too much.
That argument is also monstrously wrong. The Amendment states "Congress shall make no law concerning the establishment of religion nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
That means CONGRESS cannot pass laws either establishing a national church nor can they pass laws preventing people from worshiping as they please. Nothing at all about removing any sort of religious symbols from the public view.
In fact the Constitution would never have been passed had the states been told that would be the novel interpretation of the First Amendment and it would be used to suppress religion.
The term "separation of church and state" doesn't exist either. It is a paraphrasing of Thomas Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptist Church where Jefferson was assuring them religion would REMAIN in public life,not be banned. He said "it is as if there is a wall of separation between Church and State". Atheists have grossly twisted the whole amendment and the meaning of Jefferson's phrase.
And what is happening now but an enforced atheism, which is essentially a state religion? We are now being forced into an new religion, only one that rejects a deity in favor of a god of nihilism.

BTW What exactly do people find "obnoxious" about crucifixes in public, and where does it say in the Constitution that people have a right to not be offended or annoyed? Strange; I don't see that in MY copy of the document.

A Potemkin Village

The one thing I learned while working on the Arms Reduction Project in Ukraine in 1994-1997, was that we really had nothing to fear, when it came to the threat posed by the Soviets.
It was all theatre!
This was because the rockets that the American Taxpayer was responsible to pay for, to be destroyed under the START 2 Treaty, were in such poor condition.
The majority of their rockets would never have been able to launch and probably would have never hit their intended target if they did launch.
The threat was greater to the Soviet citizens.
If they tried to launch those rockets and the rockets were carrying a nuke payload. The chances of the rockets landing within 10 miles of the launch silo was more realistic.
The silos were in dis-repair
The Fuel was bad
The rockets were old and always unstable
The rocket forces were mostly conscript soldiers that were un-trained and not professional soldiers
I also witnessed the Soviet Buran Space Shuttle, when touring Soviet Weapons Facilities, North of Moscow in 1996.
I was with Secretary Warren Christopher and we were getting resistance from the Russian Factory Director.
The Russian Foreign Minister finally forced the Factory director to allow us to tour the entire facility.
That is when we stumbled on the failed Russian Buran Shuttle, with a dented nose, stored in a giant warehouse.
The Russians were embarrassed because the technology was obviously stolen from the US Space Program, but their shuttle did not fly.
In fact on it's test flight. It dropped like a rock and the parachutes had to be deployed to keep it from total destruction and the nose was dented upon landing.
Everything with the Cold War was Theatre!
Soviet capabilities and Reagans Star Wars Programs were fictional.
The Soviet Communist in charge of the government, used Slogans and Propaganda to convince their population that they were a world superpower!
When in fact, they were just tyrants crushing the souls of people, so they could rule over them! They had to lock their population behind their borders to keep them from escaping!
Each year on May Day. The Soviet Tanks and Missiles would parade through the major cities. They did this to prolong the lie about their influence in the world stage.
Most of that hardware was fake as well.
My point is, do not believe anything you hear from your Government and Media and less than half of what you see!

The "Noble" Savage

The Noble Savage.
The concept was popular in the 19th and 20th century. It refers to the inate goodness of primative man not corrupted by civilization.
Native Americans and other so called indigenous people are seen this way and they are romanticized as possessors of wisdom and virtue which eludes modern man or men of an industrialized and civil society.
This concept seems to come from some deep unconscious element within us. However, it is far from true.
Primative or savage men were extremely brutal to each other. They killed each other for personal gain on a collective and steady basis.
The idea that primitives are somehow noble comes from the mistaken belief that men become evil through modernization and industrialization. That left unmolested by technology and progress, man is inherently good.
Of course we know that is not true. We are inherently evil. It is not technology that give way to evil. It is our nature. If anything, civility and modernization helped rein in our evil natures.
At its heart is a rejection of Western Civilization and Christianity. People feel cut off from God and for themselves. But that cut off is not because of our civilization. At least it wasn't. It was the result of the rejection of Christ and the ideas of the Judeo Christian faith.
St John Vianney said that without God a society will revert to barbarism within three generations. We went from noble and civilized people of faith to atheistic Savages.

Indeed. The ridiculous "noble savage" idea has done more harm to Mankind than any other idea in the last two thousand years, probably. Socialism was born of it (and hence Communism and Fascism.) Radical environmentalism was born of it and that is why we now are facing the crazy ideas that are springing up. Malthusianism is running rampant in the world and based in no small part on the Nobel Savage idea; they want to rebuild "paradise" and that means we need to eliminate ninety percent of the population.I could go on and on but the point is made.
This idea of the Nobel Savage came from the Enlightenment rejection of the Christian concept of Original Sin. The Enlightenment thinkers - particularly the latter ones - believed Man was inherently good and that it was civilization that screwed him up. So they celebrated primitivism. (A big part of Benjamin Franklyn's appeal in Europe was they thought him - and Americans - to be "noble savages", at least in France.)
But this was and is at odds with reality. Isolated primitive tribes are often quite ferocious and vicious, practicing human sacrifice, cannibalism, and ritual torture. Even in some truly wonderful places like Polynesia you had cannibal islanders. The Typee of Nuka Hiva are a prime example (Melville wrote about them in Typee). It's not just Polynesia. The Caribe' in the sea named after them were cannibals. The Tainu of Cuba and the other islands weren't,but they were warlike and held slaves (which is why they were so friendly with the Spanish; they wanted Spanish guns and galleons to help wipe out the Caribe'). Native Americans on the mainland were often vicious and cruel. It has been chronicled that many tribes used ritual torture, including dismemberment while the victim was still alive. The Comanche were notorious for torturing their victims to death slowly. But so were many other tribes.
This isn't saying the Europeans were saints - far from it. But it is saying the savage is in many ways MORE savage than those from complex civilizations. Civilization requires a surrender of autonomy in return for protection and assistance, and thus civilized men are more likely to get along with others.
That and the rise of Christianity, which recognized original Sin and planned for it.
Now we are returning to a neopaganism via "Green" and to an atheism and the severing of our ties to Christianity and Judaism is leading us to a return to barbarism. That is correct. We see it now with some of the things happening in our society. Vicious murders, rapes, sexual deviancy, brutal political suppression, etc. are all things that were found in ancient cultures. We are becoming ancients and our world is increasingly unstable and brutal and miserable. Chaos reigns because that is the natural order of the human condition. We purposely chose to become natural Men and the end result is a most UNNATURAL condition where we reject what is right for what pleases us - and this leads us to reject our higher nature, our reason and our wisdom and our restraint, in favor of the animal nature, the beast within.
So we have men dressed as women engaging in vile acts, we have murders and rapes, we have bizarre religious practices or rage against those trying to restore the old order. This is what the Bible meant by Mystery Babylon.
And as the Bible said, when Babylon falls "it has become a habitation of demons, and of every foul and unclean bird". That is the "noble savage" at work in us.

The concept was popular in the 19th and 20th century. It refers to the inate goodness of primative man not corrupted by civilization.
Native Americans and other so called indigenous people are seen this way and they are romanticized as possessors of wisdom and virtue which eludes modern man or men of an industrialized and civil society.
This concept seems to come from some deep unconscious element within us. However, it is far from true.
Primative or savage men were extremely brutal to each other. They killed each other for personal gain on a collective and steady basis.
The idea that primitives are somehow noble comes from the mistaken belief that men become evil through modernization and industrialization. That left unmolested by technology and progress, man is inherently good.
Of course we know that is not true. We are inherently evil. It is not technology that give way to evil. It is our nature. If anything, civility and modernization helped rein in our evil natures.
At its heart is a rejection of Western Civilization and Christianity. People feel cut off from God and for themselves. But that cut off is not because of our civilization. At least it wasn't. It was the result of the rejection of Christ and the ideas of the Judeo Christian faith.
St John Vianney said that without God a society will revert to barbarism within three generations. We went from noble and civilized people of faith to atheistic Savages.
Nothing noble about it.

Indeed. The ridiculous "noble savage" idea has done more harm to Mankind than any other idea in the last two thousand years, probably. Socialism was born of it (and hence Communism and Fascism.) Radical environmentalism was born of it and that is why we now are facing the crazy ideas that are springing up. Malthusianism is running rampant in the world and based in no small part on the Nobel Savage idea; they want to rebuild "paradise" and that means we need to eliminate ninety percent of the population.I could go on and on but the point is made.
This idea of the Nobel Savage came from the Enlightenment rejection of the Christian concept of Original Sin. The Enlightenment thinkers - particularly the latter ones - believed Man was inherently good and that it was civilization that screwed him up. So they celebrated primitivism. (A big part of Benjamin Franklyn's appeal in Europe was they thought him - and Americans - to be "noble savages", at least in France.)
But this was and is at odds with reality. Isolated primitive tribes are often quite ferocious and vicious, practicing human sacrifice, cannibalism, and ritual torture. Even in some truly wonderful places like Polynesia you had cannibal islanders. The Typee of Nuka Hiva are a prime example (Melville wrote about them in Typee). It's not just Polynesia. The Caribe' in the sea named after them were cannibals. The Tainu of Cuba and the other islands weren't,but they were warlike and held slaves (which is why they were so friendly with the Spanish; they wanted Spanish guns and galleons to help wipe out the Caribe'). Native Americans on the mainland were often vicious and cruel. It has been chronicled that many tribes used ritual torture, including dismemberment while the victim was still alive. The Comanche were notorious for torturing their victims to death slowly. But so were many other tribes.
This isn't saying the Europeans were saints - far from it. But it is saying the savage is in many ways MORE savage than those from complex civilizations. Civilization requires a surrender of autonomy in return for protection and assistance, and thus civilized men are more likely to get along with others.
That and the rise of Christianity, which recognized original Sin and planned for it.
Now we are returning to a neopaganism via "Green" and to an atheism and the severing of our ties to Christianity and Judaism is leading us to a return to barbarism. That is correct. We see it now with some of the things happening in our society. Vicious murders, rapes, sexual deviancy, brutal political suppression, etc. are all things that were found in ancient cultures. We are becoming ancients and our world is increasingly unstable and brutal and miserable. Chaos reigns because that is the natural order of the human condition. We purposely chose to become natural Men and the end result is a most UNNATURAL condition where we reject what is right for what pleases us - and this leads us to reject our higher nature, our reason and our wisdom and our restraint, in favor of the animal nature, the beast within.
So we have men dressed as women engaging in vile acts, we have murders and rapes, we have bizarre religious practices or rage against those trying to restore the old order. This is what the Bible meant by Mystery Babylon.
And as the Bible said, when Babylon falls "it has become a habitation of demons, and of every foul and unclean bird". That is the "noble savage" at work in us.

How does relativism impact science? Some may wonder why a belief in Moral Truth (objective by definition) should matter in science. The answer is simple: Belief in and acquaintance with Moral Truth keeps people honest in their search for Physical Truth.
Virtue is a prerequisite for good science.

Millions of Dollars Wasted on Tunnels for Hamas

After almost three months of fighting, IDF soldiers have so far found hundreds of kilometers of underground tunnels built by the Hamas terrorists.
The Israeli army estimates that based on an analysis of the tunnels explored so far, over 6000 tons of concrete and 1800 tons of metal were invested in the construction of the underground infrastructure, at an estimated cost of tens of millions of dollars.

A man who filed a number of lawsuits in different states to try to prevent former President Donald Trump from appearing on election ballots has been arrested on federal tax charges.
John Anthony Castro was charged last week with 33 counts of aiding the preparation of false tax returns, according to Department of Justice prosecutors. They said that he ran a virtual tax business that gave customers returns beyond what they were really owed.
