The ISM manufacturing index has been below the 48 level for eight consecutive months, a pattern that has only occurred during all previous hard landings in the last 55 years.
While investors often have short memories, there is substantial evidence pointing towards a possible repetition of this trend:
- Severe yield curve inversions
- The potential lagging effect of the steepest monetary tightening in decades
- The narrow leadership in the stock market
- A significant rise in the cost of debt
- Oil prices nearing $90 per barrel
- Corporate fundamentals already contracting

John Hancock was a Missouri republican in the state legislature and former chairman of the Missouri Republican Party.
Michael Kelley is a former executive director for the Missouri Democratic Party and former political director for the Missouri AFL-CI.
Together they host a Sunday morning talk show Hancock and Kelley, moderated by KTVI anchor Andy Banker (a real character who used to always report froma bar when he was just a reporter and used to wear pimp hats to fit in with the electorate in St. Louis).
Normally Hancock is a reasonably conservative guy, while Kelley is your usual dyed-in-the-wool leftist Democrat.
So I put the show on this morning as I was getting ready for church. Big mistake.
First, Banker ran a clip of Brian Kemp, Georgia's RINO governor, who was excoriating fellow Republicans for looking to remove the radical hate-monger Fani "whatjutalkingbout" Willis. Kemp screamed about the "rule of law" as if this lawless prosecutor - or any of the Democrats engaging in this lawfare against a man they persecuted for years before filing charges - is somehow the one following the law and not on a personal crusade.
I was enraged; Willis is so clearly engaged in a politicized attack. She waited until now to prosecute - to make sure it will interfere with the election and Trump's campaign.
I would point out this too:
"Still, Willis has made some mistakes. Last year, she hosted a political fundraiser for the political opponent of one of the so-called fake electors her investigation was targeting. A judge called it a "what-are-you-thinking moment" and disqualified Willis' office from prosecuting him."

That from a glowing piece in the liberal NPR.
What is a prosecutor doing hosting political fundraisers in the first place?
The "Poo Hit the Fani" was colluding with the illegally appointed Special Counsel Jack Smith.
And just days before she indicted Trump she sent out a fundraising letter bragging about how she got Trump.
Jim Jordan noted in a letter to Willis:
"It is noteworthy that just four days before this indictment, you launched a new campaign fundraising website that highlighted your investigation into President Trump,
Additionally, the forewoman of the special grand jury you convened to investigate President Trump earlier this year bragged during an unusual media tour about her excitement at the prospect of subpoenaing President Trump and getting to swear him in.”
I don't know how much evidence Kemp needs to be on board with this. But then it was Kemp and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Rafensperger who not only refused to look at accusations of fraud in Georgia but then went public when Trump asked Rafensperger to do his job and find votes that were clearly being suppressed.
So Kemp says what Trump did was illegal but this political prosecution is not.
Kemp clearly hates Trump and no doubt for putting him in an uncomfortable position where actually fighting vote fraud fell on him.
See, Kemp was fighting a lawsuit by Stacy Abrams over his handling of the 2018 elections. She accused him - then Secretary of State - of stealing the election from her. So Kemp, knees knocking in usual Republican fashion, wanted to show what a swell guy he really was. He refused to entertain accusations of fraud by Trump, and in fact now hates Trump for putting the spotlight on him. That was exactly why Abrams brought that suit, I might add.
Isn't it odd that she could do it and nobody cried foul but when Trump did it he was indicted?
Anyway, Biran Kelley blathered the usual nonsense coming from a Democrat about the Rule of Law and "nobody is above the law" which is utter b.s. and monumental hypocrisy as his party has ALWAYS put their people above the law. But it was to be expected.
But what enraged me was Hancock began sneering. He marveled at the fact the base of the Party was supporting Trump "here with 91 charges" and intimated where there is smoke there is fire.
It is astonishing that anyone without brain damage can't remember the last three years. When Trump first announced his candidacy they launched investigations into the man, using lies about a Russian-sourced document to get a FISA warrant, and they planted spies in Trump's campaign. They prosecuted multiple members of Trump's staff for process crimes "lying to the FBI" because their memories were vague or they said something that they were later accused of misrepresenting. There were claims Trump was a "Russian asset" and multiple intelligence agencies, run by former Obama appointees, "verified" the misinformation (which has come to light since.) There were multiple investigations. There was one impeachment while Trump was President and another after the J6 self-guided Capitol tour.
In short they were trying to destroy Trump from day one. He was repeatedly falsely accused of crimes but no adequate evidence turned up.
So on election day a bunch of very strange things happened. Mistakes were made. Anomalies occurred. And so Mr. Trump protested a stolen election (and it wasn't just Trump who believed they stole it from him) and what do they do? Prosecute him for multiple crimes. Only they don't do it right away; they wait until after it's clear he's the GOP frontrunner then set the trials to start at the peak of the campaign season.
If Hancock can't see this is election tampering I'm glad he's out of office now; he's a moron.
Devin Nunes gave a laundry list of the false attacks made on Trump. No doubt a little effort could turn up more.
Here are just a few:
* Trump is a long-time Russian agent, as described in the Steele dossier.
* The Russians gave Trump advance access to emails stolen from the DNC and the Hillary Clinton campaign.
* The Trump campaign based some of its activities on these stolen documents.
* Trump received nefarious materials from the Russians through a Trump Campaign aide.
* Trump laundered Russian money through real estate deals.
* Trump was blackmailed by Russia through his financial exposure with Deutsche Bank.
* Trump had a diabolical plan to build a Trump Tower in Moscow.
* Trump changed the Republican National Committee platform to hurt Ukraine and benefit Russia.
* The Russians laundered money through the NRA for the Trump campaign.
* Trump’s son in law lied about his Russian contacts while obtaining his security clearance
And don't forget about how Trump made wee-wee on a hotel bed because Barack Obama had slept there! (A.he wouldn't, being a germophobe, B.if he did he would have to pay for the damage, something not illegal if he made good on it and C.two thirds of the Democrat Party does far more disgusting things on any given Saturday night, especially in San Francisco.
And don't forget the many Trump staffers who were prosecuted over bogus charges, or otherwise attacked.
But Hancock seems to have forgotten all that, or worse he believes "those others were all false but THESE are true!" which would make him the stupidest, most gullible man on God's green Earth.
How can we hope to save America with weaklings and dimwits as our champions? Hancock represents the best of the Missouri GOP.
But hes a party insider and they all stick together on Trump because he posed a direct, existential threat to their power. So Hancock makes a fool of himself in his efforts to show he's one of the good old boys.
Until we make people like John Hancock understand that we are the ones who run things and that they are our servants these people will keep whoring for the monied classes and the fani kissers.
I often feel like Jeremiah, whose preaching fell on deaf ears and he had to go down with the fools who wouldn't listen.
America has become like the final days of ancient Israel. And we are led by children and scary old men.

Besides the tragedy of these three people dying of malnutrition and starvation from trying to live off the grid in tents through a Colorado winter, I am struck by the fact that things like this didn't used to happen. What are people using for knowledge these days that would cause them to be so naïve about how much work it takes to support yourself by living off of nature? You can't just buy a bunch of groceries and a tent and decide you will live for months outside through a cold, snowy winter. It makes no logical sense.

MAYBE some place that doesn't get cold, like Florida, you can do this. But even then it's doubtful.
People stranded on Pacific islands with fish jumping all over the lagoons have starved to death, in the midst of plenty.
I built a cabin in the Ozarks and have spent some nights in winter there. Even with a fire it's COLD. And when it's cold you need more calories.
Anyone who has watched the show Alone ought to see the difficulties.
There was a dumb liberal kid (pardon the redundant language) named Christopher McCandless who went to Alaska and tried to live off the land. He died of starvation (although some try to say he poisoned himself) even while he was getting some game. You just can't expend the kind of calories that he was expending. He crossed a river then couldn't cross it to get back when the spring thaw came.
Nature writer John Krakaur wrote about this in a book called Into the Wild https://www.amazon.com/Into-Wild-Jon-Krakauer/dp/0385486804 and the story was made into a movie by Sean Penn.
At any rate, people grossly underestimate how difficult it is to survive in the wild - especially for Westerners, who are carrying a lot of weight and thus need a lot of calories. You might be o.k. over the summer but winter is a killer to even well-trained survival experts. Without proper shelter or a way to resupply you are in mortal peril. A couple of days without food leaves you too weak to do what you need to get food.
Civilization wasn't born for no reason. People hated farming but it beat the alternative; starve or steal to augment what you hunted. War was a constant companion to the paleo-and-neolithic world because when you get hungry enough your neighbors food is the obvious solution.
These utopian types don't understand that. They have been lied to their whole lives by liberals who told them a state of nature was pure and bountiful and that civilzation was the fall of Man. No; civilization was the cure and the state of nature was the real tyrant.

Buffett was the nephew of Billionaire investor Warren Buffett, and while that undoubtedly opened doors for the old pirate it was Buffett's embrace of the Caribbean and the music of the sea that made him a superstar. Originally Buffett was just another country singer but his love of the islands and their culture and music soon set him apart from all other singers at the time. Nobody was doing Calypso style music when Buffet came along (yes, guys like Harry Beafonte' did Calypso and other such music, but Buffett brought it back.)
He owned the genre'. And it was wildly popular, spurring the "parrot heads" to follow him around like puppies.
I had a friend who got into Jimmy Buffett when he lived up in Alaska. So when Buffett came to St. Louis in the late '80's for the first time in twenty years we went. I was expected a modest crowd but Riverport Ampitheater was completely packed - and everyone knew all the songs! I was shocked at the turnout. So was Jimmy, who said he wouldn't neglect the city again with a shaking of his head showing his astonishment at his own popularity.
Why was Buffett so popular? He sang about, well, freedom. His songs were about being free on the sea, living life on your own terms and not according to the whims of another. He waxed poetic about the joys of the West Indies. He sang of the sea and it's promise. It spoke to everyone who ever dreamed of just chucking their glum lives and finding a new life in a beautiful tropical paradise.And his songs were often quite light-hearted, a break from the tedium and stress of life. Songs of faraway places and exotic lifestyles and a world that had somehow slipped away from us.
I don't know who will take up the mantle of Buffett, but I'm sure someone else will at some point.
At any rate he passed away peacefully at home. No cause of death was given.

Two Japanese authors investigated the evolutionary processes that led to the formation of the Omicron variant of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
The researchers compared the sequences of 129 isolates related to Omicron BA.1, 141 isolates related to BA.1.1, and 122 isolates related to BA.2 to determine the order of mutations leading to the formation of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variants.
Of note, examination of 35 recombinant isolates of the Omicron variants BA.1 and BA.2 revealed that the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2, first reported by the Network for Genomics Surveillance in South Africa to WHO on November 24, 2021, was already endemic in Puerto Rico in 2020.
The authors emphasized that the SARS-CoV-2 isolates are formed by a completely new mechanism that cannot be explained by previous biology, and that it is highly unlikely that these viruses arose spontaneously...

When TX had the problem during the winter two years ago it wasn’t natural gas, coal or fossil fuels that created the problem! It was windmills that froze and solar panels that didn’t generate electricity because of cloud cover! The "green” energy is ugly, takes up enormous amounts of space, kill wildlife and are inefficient and is anything but environmentally friendly! We all need to contact our state governments and tell them NO we don’t want the taxpayers money going to pay for the destruction of our quality of life! At least DeSantis sees the dangers!

That's how they win. They bribe our side. In St. Charles County, Missouri (a suburb/exurb of St. Louis) the county council had a huge fight over whether to accept Zuckerbucks. Most of the largely conservative council wanted to turn it down, but how do you say no to money? They knew there were strings attached but in the end they felt they had little choice. Until we stop accepting blood money we will keep losing.
