ChatGPT and other AI are an existential danger to Humanity. But do we simply ignore it?
I see it this way; Chat GPT is a tool, like a calculator or a word processor or whatnot. It is a fine servant but a dangerous and oppressive master. If used in the proper way it would be a good benefit, and those of us mature enough to understand that it is a tool whose primary purpose is to act as an aid to the human mind as opposed to the primary source of thinking can use it without any problem.
It's when such a gadget becomes the thinker rather than the thinkee that there are problems.
The young will use it to do their thinking for them, alas. They will take whatever the idiot gadget says as Gospel. They will misuse it, to do homework, to write letters and do things they need to learn to do for themselves. How much great literature will be lost because the kids used such tools and never acquired writing skills?
And since such a device can be gamed to promote certain worldviews the machines can and will give biased answers - which will be believed by the young, who have absolute faith in the technology.
Me, I wouldn't use it, because I both know my own mind and also have adequate writing talent to not need a machine's help, but that's not true of everyone. I have no problem with people using this technology judiciously. But we must remember that this stuff will only grow more and more complex over time, and eventually we will build our own false god from it.
That is rather the point of "the singularity" after all; that Man will merge with machine and become demigods. And that will be the worst tyranny that ever existed, human beings crushed under the metal heel of the machine.
I think long-term these gadgets are a horrendous danger to the human species. But so was gunpowder. So were bows and arrows. So were every major technological advancement. We have to learn to control them, not let them control us.
Sadly, our modern religion is Scientism, a worship of science and technology, and so all restraints have fallen by the wayside. The Covid pandemic is a prime example; a bunch of Viktor Frankensteins playing with the genome of a potentially dangerous virus just because they could. God keeps bailing Mankind out but eventually He will let us take the consequences of our actions.
This is a very dangerous technology and we must learn to use it and restrain it. We can't make the Djihn go back in it's bottle.
The problem was and is the depravity of the human heart. We are attempting to create a god, and that god will have our flaws even while being more capable than are we.
How many people will use these machines for deep fakes? To frame enemies, neighbors, political rivals? How much will these machines take over in our lives? Humans loathe thinking on their own now.
So I believe we can use them and should, so as to find ways to incorporate them into society without them taking over.

Unlike most Republicans, after DeSantis won his Governor’s seat, I can’t remember seeing him speak highly of Trump or even appearing at his rallies. After he won, he created some distance. DeSantis was ahead in his re-election polls and didn’t need another endorsement; so, he didn’t even appear at Trump’s 2022 Florida rallies (but Trump still endorsed him again, anyway). Most people believe Trump turned on DeSantis first… but many of us know better because we had been getting the ”Ready for Ron” email and text solicitations since the beginning of 2022. Many did not know the establishment has been planning a DeSantis takedown of Trump for a long time and, when Trump heard about it, he started letting him have it! DeSantis has even been caught on a hot mic, saying that he "didn’t wanna piss off Trump voters.” I don’t know if he ever really liked Trump. He just wanted that endorsement (like Romney). After all, years ago, DeSantis said the ”most inspirational” person he ever met was Bush 41… Well, it shows now (no matter how much he tries to act like Trump). His ads look and sound like Trump ads… but he still sounds whiny like his idol, Bush 41.

The Real Dangers Of Face Masks - both short term and permanent damage including increased risk of stillbirths. https://www.theamericanconservative.com/mask-wearers-are-poisoning-themselves/
Extracts:
Mask wearers are breathing in 35 to 80 times normal levels of carbon dioxide. To put that into perspective, the authors describe chronic exposure at CO2 levels of 0.3 percent—just 8 times normal levels—as "toxic.”
As for countries that have long worn masks on a somewhat regular basis, the authors write, "Even before the pandemic, in Asia the stillbirth rates have been significantly higher” than in Eurasia, Oceania, or North Africa.
The authors of the German study observe that "a significant rise in carbon dioxide occurring while wearing a mask is scientifically proven in many studies.”
It is the magnitude of the rise that is most striking. "Fresh air has around 0.04% CO2,” the authors write, while "masks bear a possible chronic exposure to low level carbon dioxide of 1.41–3.2% CO2 of the inhaled air in reliable human experiments.” So, research suggests that mask-wearers (specifically those who wear masks for more than five minutes at a time) are breathing in 35 to 80 times normal levels of carbon dioxide. To put that into perspective, the authors describe chronic exposure at CO2 levels of 0.3 percent—just 8 times normal levels—as "toxic.”
The German study is a scoping review of existing research, and it aimed "to investigate the toxicological effects of face masks in terms of CO2 rebreathing on developing life, specifically for pregnant women, children, and adolescents.” Breathing in too much carbon dioxide can harm the human body in a wide variety of ways. The potential symptoms mentioned by the authors include "increased heart rate, increased blood pressure and overall increased circulation with the symptoms of headache, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, dizziness, rhinitis, and dry cough,” as well as "respiratory acidosis, metabolic stress, increased blood flow and decreased exercise tolerance.” In addition, they write, "Testes metabolism and cell respiration have been shown to be inhibited increasingly by rising levels of CO2.”
The authors note that pregnant women, obeying mask mandates, have been forced to breathe in levels of CO2 that would be prohibited if they were serving on a Navy submarine. They write that "it is clear that carbon dioxide rebreathing, especially when using N95 masks, is above the 0.8% CO2 limit set by the US Navy to reduce the risk of stillbirths and birth defects on submarines with female personnel who may be pregnant.”

More voters (154.6 million) turned out for the presidential election in 2020 than in 2016 (137.5 million), the largest increase between consecutive presidential elections since the inception of the CPS voting supplement in 1964.
161 million registrations is 62% of the eligible population, or seemingly eligible but there are at least 25 million illegals in the number that shouldn't be eligible to vote in USA elections.
There was a total of 16l million registered voters in the USA. The claim is that nearly 100% of registered voters voted. Phenomenal. Or at least there are that many registrations and purported votes cast. And almost all of those registrations were utilized.
This exceeds all reports that I can remember in the past elections. Most countries and the USA have in the past had much lower voter participation. It is remarkable that so many people are homeless, elderly, infirmed, have sketchy existence, don't give a damn and still almost 100% participation.
Do you believe it?
Statistician William Briggs did a forensic analysis of the election and said it was categorically impossible that it could happen the way it did. precincts with more votes than voters. All of the bellweathers failed - all of them. Turnout was simply not in line with any past elections. The worst demographic for voting - the young - rose precipitously in that election. Trump won more black votes than any Republican in history but still lost.
That election stunk to high heaven. And so did 2022. And it's just going to happen again in '24 only now the Democrats have themselves immunized as they have made challenging vote fraud akin to insurrection against the U.S. and the Republicans won't dare suggest they are stealing the country.
IF Biden was legitimately elected he and the Democrats have to know that many in the public think he stole it, so why didn't Biden appoint a blue ribbon commission to investigate? I mean, if it was such a slam dunk why be afraid to investigate? Why not show the world? But he and his party fought every and any investigation into the election. Now why do you suppose that was?
If he truly wanted to be everyone's President, as he said, he would have found ways to assure those who thought he stole the election. He not only didn't do that but went after those who protested with great anger and furious wrath.

How did E Jean Carroll pull it off?
Here’s how
Did you know?
The statute of limitations for sexual assault in NY is typically 5-7 years
New York even has a 20 year period for civil claims of sexual assault
But that wasn’t enough to get Trump - Jean Carroll’s claims go back to the mid 90s
So NY amended the law in 2022 to provide unlimited statute of limitations for civil claims of sexual assault and provided a 1 year window where preexisting claims could be litigated
That’s where Jean Carroll comes in
Funded by a Democrat activist, she filed her claim against Trump in that limited window and even a liberal New York jury wouldn’t find Trump liable for rape
People paying attention know what this truly is
Another political attack to try and harm Trump before the 2024 election."
Lynn Dean adds:
Here’s another example: Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, whose nomination survived similar allegations of sexual misconduct in a circus presided over by none other than Senator Joe Biden (that paragon of virtue), is now accused of "accepting inappropriate gifts” while in office. The "gifts” came from a man who has been a family friend since at least 1994. The protocol Justice Thomas is said to have broken was put into effect March 14, 2023, and charges were filed by April 13, 2023 accusing him of activities going back 29 years that were NOT forbidden at the time and are being misinterpreted even now. Thomas’ friend is a conservative American, and there is ZERO evidence that the gifts compromised any ruling of the court.
But liberals scraped together 29 years of "evidence” against Thomas in 29 DAYS when they have yet to acknowledge YEARS of influence peddling by the Biden regime to enemy nations that have vowed to destroy us?!?
What a coincidence that Biden should go after Thomas a 2nd time…

So … let me get this straight about far too many "trans" people:
• You'll kill yourself if you can't get your penis/breasts cut off.
• You'll kill yourself if you get misgendered.
• You'll kill yourself if you can't watch little girls undress.
• You'll kill yourself if you can't piss where you want.
But you're not mentally ill.
Got it.
Tim adds:And, at one half of one percent of the population, they complain about being "invisible' despite daily discussions about "trans rights". They are OVERLY VISIBLE but that isn't enough attention for them, apparently.

"On May 15th, the Arabs who call themselves Palestinians, along with the United Nations and millions of their supporters around the world, will commemorate Nakba day.
They will beat their chests, cry inconsolably, hold rusty keys to buildings that don't exist, and shout out to the heavens about the injustice of colonialism and occupation.
People around the world will weep with solidarity at the injustice of what has happened to them and curse the cruel European colonialists that kicked them out their homes.
But it is all a lie, a farce, a whimsical tale woven in fiction and fantasy.
Nakba day, or the 'Palestinian catastrophe' is not about the loss of a land that was never theirs. It is not about the destruction of a state that never existed. And it's not about the fictitious tale of Arabs being chased from their homes.
It is about one thing only - the failure of the Arab world to commit mass genocide against the Jews of Israel and thereby add another 'glorious' chapter of Arab history. Chapters that include events such as the massacre of the Jewish community in Khaybar in ancient Medina, or the pogroms against the Jews in Hebron in 1929, or the slaughter of thousands of Jews in Morocco in 1465, or the many anti-Jewish rioting in the 1940s in Iraq and Libya and Egypt and Syria and Yemen that led to thousands of Jews being killed.
Now many people, maybe some with good intentions, say we must recognise the pain of their loss and show sympathy and empathy to them. We must understand them and their side of the story so that we can go forward and build a better future together.
But I will not be one of them.
I will not recognise that 'pain' and I will not show empathy to a people whose leaders instruct their citizens to stab you and rip your heart out. I will not show sympathy to a system that indoctrinates children to hate from the very moment they can even open their eyes. I will not show any understanding to a society that honours those who commit mass murder by rewarding them with money and murals.
To me, it doesn't matter how 'upset' the world is. It doesn't matter how many 'sad' stories from dishonest media like the BBC show. It doesn't matter how many fantastical headlines the New York Times invents. And it certainly doesn't matter how many groups jump up and down and criticise and threaten Israel - groups like some church bodies who support BDS, or university terror supporters masquerading as student bodies, or naive so-called Jewish groups like Jewish Voice for Peace, or IfNotNow who know or care little about being Jewish, yet miraculously find their Jewishness when it comes to bashing Israel under the banner of some warped understanding of the term tikkum olam.
Even as I write these words, the Arab 'pain' has manifested itself in the form of over a thousand rockets being launched against innocent civilians - each of them with the intention of killing innocent people. But many world leaders, who love issuing statements, are not recognizing the pain or the suffering of my people forced into bunkers, often with just a few seconds warning before the terror rains down on them. Instead, they are naively calling on groups, recognised as terrorist entities, to restore calm and respect humanitarian law, as if terrorists have ever respected any innocent lives!
Yet, there are so many who want to apply moral equivalency between terror groups who set out to murder, and a country trying to defend its civilians.
It is mad. It is insane. It is crazy. And absolutely anyone who has any shroud of justice or decency knows that - yet are too scared to admit it.
I do not blame innocent Arabs who are trying to provide a future for their children - instead I blame their corrupt leaders who live lavish lifestyles of luxury while reaping in the financial benefits of being 'oppressed.' I blame them for manipulating and corrupting and indoctrinating the minds of all those they supposedly rule, consigning them to a bleak future of nothingness.
And I also hold those international bodies who do not seek to resolve the conflict, but perpetuate it, encouraging the lies and falsifications of history of an Arab narrative that never existed, while denying Jewish history that did.
So no, on this day, I will not recognise their 'disaster' at all, because their 'disaster' meant my Jewish homeland lived and that means the Jewish future is brighter than it's ever been before.
That is something we should never apologize for."Tim adds:
They call Israel a "Crusader state". That speaks volumes. It tells me that they are still fighting the Crusades and consider Israel just an instrument of Western hostility to Islam. Nothing about the rights of those who live there or who used to live there. It's just the old idea in Islam that "where Islam sets foot it shall not be moved" and since they stole possession of the land for a time they think it entitles them to eternal domination.
They have had repeated opportunities. Israel offered them 95% of what they CLAIMED they wanted and they turned it down. That was because they don't want their own state - they want it all. The Arab world wants Israel gone at any cost. Israel is a huge embarrassment to them - it shows that God is not on their side but on the side of the Jews, whom they claim to be apostates. And it shows that their way of Sharia law brings poverty and suffering. The land was poor and desolate until the Jews reclaimed it. The Arabs had control of it - or the Turks anyway - for centuries and it turned into a desert. The Jews come along and it becomes a fertile garden. So Israel's existence threatens Islamic hegemony in multiple ways.
And it also is the fulfillment of an ancient promise made by God to His people - and the restoration was prophecied. Islam is horribly jealous of Judaism because they fear being upstarts to the Jewish faith. They don't see themselves as fellow monotheists so much as rivals for the right to call themselves the original followers of God. They know that both Christianity and Judaism are older, but they claim they are apostate. If that is so then Allah should punish them and the followers of Muhammed should prosper. Israel's very existence suggests their whole religion is wrong.
So it must die. The Palestinians and their endless uprisings are just a tool to that end - nothing more.

Current favorability ratings of leading political figures: favorable %, unfavorable %, net rating %) from realclearpolitics.com.
Joe Biden 42.6 52.6 -10.0
Donald Trump 41.4 53.0 -11.6
Ron DeSantis 44.0 41.8 +2.2
Kamala Harris 39.8 54.3 -14.5
Kevin McCarthy 35.3 37.3 -2.0
Hakeem Jeffries 28.8 28.3 +0.5
Chuck Schumer 29.8 39.3 -9.5
Mitch McConnell 22.3 52.8 -30.5
Some observations: Trump has improved his rating of late, he's now just barely behind Biden and has a better rating than Kamala Harris. This is perhaps due to him staying "on message" more lately.
Kevin McCarthy has improved his rating a lot and now just barely has a negative rating, with the only higher ratings being those of DeSantis and Jeffries. This is presumably due to an improved reputation with populist Republicans as he has made genuine concessions to the populists and has made good on those so far.
Hakeem Jeffries' rating has declined a bit and he now just barely beats out DeSantis for the best rating. I'm not sure what caused this. I've always considered him just another member of the Democrat machine, but one whose optics aren't as ugly as those of people like Pelosi and Hillary Clinton.
Mitch ("Elmer Fudd") McConnell remains far and away the most unpopular leader in Washington, being despised by both Democrats as well as the populist base of Republicans. It will be interesting to see whether he can run on fumes and eke out yet another term of office. His Wall Street/Neocon base of support is pretty thin soup. But, people say he may be able to hang on due to Kentucky politics being weird. I kind of get by now how Utah politics is weird but I still don't really understand what's with Kentucky.
Tim adds:
Anyone who believes Joe Biden has a 42% favorable rating is smoking crack. There is no way that is the case. This is another case of padded polling.
Of course, the RCP is an average of a variety of polls, including slanted polls from the media, so it isn't surprising it is biased in Biden's favor. I suspect he's under 40%. The AP/NORC poll has him at 38% and he's probably lower than that. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/biden-approval-near-lowest-point-of-presidency-ap-norc-poll-says

Nearly two thirds of independent voters think 2020 was stolen. Nearly half of Democrat voters think 2020 was stolen. Nearly all Republican voters think 2020 was stolen.
And the figures keep going up. Every time they poll on it, more people know the truth.
We have had three years of every mainstream news organisation calling this belief the Big Lie. We have had tens of thousands of articles and opinion pieces and fact checks saying the election was honest and secure. We had every institution, every official, every talking head, calling us fools and conspiracy theorists.
We have had people silenced on social media. We have had accounts terminated. We had the few honest voices driven from television screens and sacked.
We have had Trump driven from office, mocked and abused and pursued in the courts. We have had him arrested. We have had the word baseless and the phrase without foundation become part of the fabric of life.
We have had people who believed at the time that it was stolen rotting in jail for that belief, and thousands rounded up, interviewed, arrested.
We have had every normal ethic of reporting broken, and all the power of every news organisation turned to convincing us that 2020 was safe, secure and honest.
We have had new
posts devoted to lying created, new offices and executives all devoted
to battling what they have labelled "misinformation
And only half of even the fanatical, delusional Dem voters believe them.
There has never in human history been a lie so powerfully and widely supported as the lie that 2020 was a real election with a real result that saw Joe Biden honestly become President. That’s a simple fact reflecting the power and wealth and uniformity of the media today. No tyrannical regime in history had this level of resources devoted to one lie.
And it hasn’t worked. More of us know the truth then support the lie. Our truth grows. Their lie withers on it’s poisonous vine. The more they suppress the truth, the more it thrives.
This is what I mean when I say they have never been so powerful, and they have never been so weak.

Americans go to Mexico to escape Global Warming. By the way it's May 14 and we are still freezing in Minnesota.
Tim replies:
Yeah; global warming is so bad that Cancun saw a 43.8% increase in tourism over the first two months of 2023 v. 2022, according to the Mexican Ministry of Tourism. .In fact, they are bracing for a record year for vacationers. I guess it's too hot in the U.S. and everyone is looking to cool off in Mexico?
So why are refugees heading SOUTH and not north to cooler temperatures?

"America is great because America is good. If America ever ceases to be great, America will cease to be good."
This saying is often attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville, but there is no evidence he ever spoke or written these words. Still, this saying has endured and has been quoted by many, including past presidents.
It endures because the words are true.
But what is meant by the words, 'America is good'?
Good here means exceptional, IMO. It is the same as saying America is exceptional. Okay, so why are we exceptional?
Exceptional means to stand out and apart. It is not the norm but the exception. And indeed, we are exceptional. The only exceptional nation that ever was or ever will be.
The leftists, like Obama, have no clue what it means...or at least... Pretend they don't. Obama said that other nations believe themselves to he exceptional as well. More moral relavence from your useful idiot leftists.
We are exceptional and unique because of one key thing... Our foundational belief that God exists. That is why we are exceptional. That belief, that He exists and He has given us certain inalienable rights we can infer from Natural Law, has institutionaliz
That belief made us as a people, good. Christianity permeated from
every corner of American life and in most American households. An
imperfect and flawed people understood the critical significance of
faith as essential to freedom and liberty.
That belief made us great. So, America WAS great because America WAS good.
Then came the communists, marching into our institutions like an army from hell. Target number One... Christianity.
To bring down a government of by and for the people in which was
enshrined the rights of the individual because of our belief in God,
God Himself would have to be removed.
For the most part, He has
been. America has ceased to be great because America has ceased to be
good. Without God, there can be no goodness.
When we say Make
America Great Again, the same vile armies of the Left, tells us that
means to make America White again...to bring us back to Jim Crow and
the racism of the past. More lies from the Father of Lies.
It means
to restore our founding faith, our founding principles, and our
founding beliefs. It means to restore God back to His rightful place...
As the author of our rights and the true giver of our liberty.
It means to honor His Natural laws, such as...
- Marriage is a sacred institution between one man and one woman.
- Abortion is the immoral taking of an individual and unique life.
- God created two genders... Male and female, He created us.
These moral ideas come from the Almighty, not from man.
As Trump often said, we don't worship government. We worship God. That is what made us good and great.
But how the mighty have fallen. We, in our arrogance and extreme
selfishness, made the mistake many others have...that we can do it
without God and better than God.
We have eaten from the forbidden fruit, and we are paying the price.
Yes. America was settled by people seeking to practice their religion as they saw fit. It was a "bible thumping" society. It was this deep conviction, this love of God, that makes America "good". We adhered to a strong moral code and took what the Bible said seriously. That goodness made us exceptional, and that made us both wealthy and powerful. But the wealth and power motivated many to believe we didn't need the "superstitions"

Joe Biden is switching off the lights. Mr. Biden is pushing forward with a total ban on incandescent light bulbs, and forcing LED lights on the entire country to combat a fictitious "climate change".
First, where in the Constitution does it say the Federal Government may regulate how people light their homes? Strange; I can't find it anywhere. Yes, there is a clause about regulating interstate commerce, but that isn't supposed to mean simply killing off a legal product just because they think it a bad idea. The Commerce Clause - Article 1, Section 8, Clause 3 - is a power limited to CONGRESS, and does not invest authority with the President to do such things. It is primarily intended to guarantee the free flow of commerce between states - not to squash it.
Second, it is a solution in search of a problem. The incandescent light bulb has worked fine for the public for decades and there is no problem with it. This is being done solely because some busybodies think we can save energy and thus fight a nebulous and unproven "climate change". The point is the incandescent bulb is suffering because Biden wants to go to an all-electric economy and wants that elecricity for other purposes - like electric go-carts (which he calls cars.)
But it is not the government's province to promote such things. The market is still supposed to be the final determinant. The market has spoken; the public prefers incandescent bulbs to the too-blue LED's. So Mr. Biden and the other Progressive tyrants are going to just force this down our collective throats anyway.
I would add that LED lights cost more than incandescents, and it was possible to get new bulbs for cheap in the old days so you had light even if you were short of cash. Now it's a fair expense.
Mostly this is just a way of making us accept their will. How do you break a horse? You get it to accept the bit in it's mouth first. It will spit it out a time or two, but eventually give up and take it. They did that with those curly-que bulbs a few years back that everyone despised. So they took their time, and now are forcing this bit in our mouths. After the bit comes the blanket and saddle and eventually the poor beast is being ridden and compelled to go where the man desires and it has no choice.
That is what is happening here.
Frankly I'd like to plug some of these bulbs into Mr. Biden's socket.
