The Bible teaches
under no uncertain conditions that unbelief is very expensive. Unbelief
invariably leads to fear and panic. It is a secular, political fantasy
that people can live 'normal' lives without respect to God's authority,
and the empirical evidence of this fact is abundantly seen everywhere
today in which staggering national debts across the international board
have essentially reached to the heavens like the Tower or Babel in
trillions and trillions of dollars that at some point will be paid to
the very last cent when payday finally comes - which the Bible calls
retribution according to a divine economy that this fallen world only
faintly understands as it suffers and wrestles with everyday economic
realities.
Thanks to an evolving evolutionary unbelief that has been
growing by leaps and bounds for the last few centuries, we seem to be
entering into an accumulation zone of unprecedented fear, even over
viruses now and sicknesses.
Back in 2009, the swine flu hit America
under the Obama administration with very little fanfare. 60,000 people
died from the swine flu back then.
Even since the New Year of 2020, 20,000 Americans have already died from just the regular flu. While this particular strain of the corona virus, which appears to be another gift from communism that may even include an accident at a laboratory connected to biological warfare, is more virulent, debilitating, and somewhat more deadly, the truth of the matter is that vast majority of those who catch it will still recover.
If you shut down large
sectors of the economy over viruses, how will people work and pay their
bills? The panic over the virus will prove to be far more destructive
than the virus itself.
Paul strongly taught the Thessalonians, "For
even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone
will not work, neither let him eat (2 Thessalonians 3:10)." Work is
commanded by God, and was rooted in the very structures of the created
world that was even expected in the paradisaical Garden of Eden - let
alone today in a fallen world where the very work environment, i.e.,
the soil from which man toils, has been cursed by God under divine
discipline. That Karl Marx expended much time trying to explain such
harsh economic realities is thus hardly surprising.
While Marx wrote a huge book describing the economic crisis of life called "Das Kaptial" to foment a political fantasy called Communism, King Solomon's wisdom states it much more succinctly, "it is a grievous task which God has given to the sons of men to be afflicted with (Ecclesiastes 1:13)."
Yet, Solomon himself still has much to say about the importance of
practicing a strong work ethic in the book of Proverbs, without which,
one can only expect to reap the whirlwind which will inevitably become
a form of suicidal self-robbery. In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon
well understood that the communist promised land will not be reached
this side of the grave.
As such, Jesus solemnly points out, "We must work the works of Him who sent Me, as long as it is day; night is coming, when no man can work (John 9:4)."
In our modern
and postmodern unbelief, we appear to be playing in the growing shadows
of such a verse from the lips of Jesus as we increasingly become more
distant from the very "Light of the world" (John 9:5) Who is not only
the Creator, but once walked this earth in great humiliation compared
to His heavenly abode, "Since then the children share in flesh and
blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death
He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the
devil; and might deliver those who through FEAR of death were subject
to slavery all their lives (2:14)."
The author of Hebrews then adds
further,
"Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things,
that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things
pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people."
When the apostle John later saw a vision of the great, holy majesty of
the ascended Christ (Revelation 1:13-17), Jesus
"laid His right hand
upon me, saying, 'Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, and
the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and
I have the keys of death and of Hades (Revelation 1:17-18)."
Thanks to
His finished work on the cross and in His subsequent resurrection/
Faith, not fear, is thus the order of the day since Christ died and rose again. Yet if people live in unbelief, then they will invariably live in fear that is spreading rapidly right now throughout the entire world. Yet such fears are not fears based on any kind of repentance toward God, but are always misplaced as sinners in a fallen world cannot think straight without His grace and mercy. Capitalists are fearful of stock market crashes and communists. Communists are scared of capitalists and fascists. Fascists are scared of the transcendent. Postmodernists are scared of truth and meaning. Atheists are fearful of religion. Scientists are scared of superstition. Socialists are supposedly fearful of the rich and powerful, yet are far more scared of freedom as they are always so quick to regulate, tax, and restrict individual liberty - except when it comes to things like sex, abortion, borders, voting, and any and all other religions except Christianity which must be put in the closet. Greeners are scared of a trace gas, CO2, and the environmental apocalypse.
Now the entire world is scared of a virus that according to some circles will become seasonal.
The corona virus is not the Spanish Flu that killed millions after
World War I, which my grandmother told me about. Neither is it a
biblical pestilence of some kind, or the Black Plague of the Middle
Ages, but it is certainly a warning of sorts in the spirit of Jeremiah
12:5,
"If you have run with footmen and they have tired you out, then
how can you compete with horses? If you fall down in a land of peace,
how will you do in the thicket of the Jordan?"
The biggest problem
right now is not the virus itself, but the panic palace connected to
it,
"In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and his children will have refuge (Proverbs 14:26)."

Stupidity is the order of the day. Here is a great example:
Miami Beach Commissioner suggests infecting first responders: ‘take one for the team’
For all Miami first responders I can suggest "you first!"
At an emergency City Commission meeting this week to discuss plans and procedures in the event of a COVID-19 breakout in their community, Arriola missed the opportunity to keep his mouth shut, and instead removed all doubt about what’s inside his head.
The commissioner made a comment, and he was completely serious when saying it, that was just so incredibly ridiculous that I didn’t believe he actually said it when I read about it.
But, again unfortunately for Commissioner Arriola, his words will forever be held in the magic of technology and the elusive cloud.
Here’s what he said:
"Might we start thinking about — it’s dangerous but bold… our first responders voluntarily taking one for the team, going through the two weeks — guys, we’ve got to be serious about this — and then developing the immunity?â€

Here is how South Korea brought it's Wuhan infection under control.
After the novel coronavirus emerged in China, Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) raced to develop its tests and cooperated with diagnostic manufacturers to develop commercial test kits. The first test was approved on 7 February, when the country had just a few cases, and distributed to regional health centers. Just 11 days later, a 61-year-old woman, known as "Case 31,†tested positive. She had attended 9 and 16 February services at the Shincheonji megachurch in Daegu, about 240 kilometers southeast of Seoul, already feeling slightly ill. Upward of 500 attendees sit shoulder to shoulder on the floor of thechurch during 2-hour services, according to local news reports.
The country identified more than 2900 new cases just in the next 12 days, the vast majority Shincheonji members. On 29 February alone, KCDC reported more than 900 new cases, bringing the cumulative total to 3150 and making the outbreak the largest by far outside mainland China. The surge initially overwhelmed testing capabilities and KCDC’s 130 disease detectives couldn’t keep up, Kim says. Contact tracing efforts were concentrated on the Shincheonji cluster, in which 80% of those reporting respiratory symptoms proved positive, compared with only 10% in other clusters.
High-risk patients with underlying illnesses get priority for hospitalization, Chun says. Those with moderate symptoms are sent to repurposed corporate training facilities and spaces provided by public institutions, where they get basic medical support and observation. Those who recover and test negative twice are released. Close contacts and those with minimal symptoms whose family members are free of chronic diseases and who can measure their own temperatures are ordered to self-quarantine for 2 weeks. A local monitoring team calls twice daily to make sure the quarantined stay put and to ask about symptoms. Quarantine violators face up to 3 million won ($2500) fines. If a recent bill becomes law, the fine will go up to 10 million won and as much as a year in jail.
And this in Asia, in a neighbor of the People's Republic of China. We can do better more easily. Or we should provided politics stays out of it. Sadly, politics has been in it from the beginning.

Top 'O the morning to ye! (And the rest of the day for meself!) Wishing everyone a fun and happy St. Patrick's day, even if every celebration of the Wearin' O' the Green has been canceled. Me, I'm going to cook up some corned beef and cabbage and drink a little dram of whiskey.
Here is a link to a Catholic website telling all about the patron saint of Ireland. Patrick was imprisoned in Ireland as a boy and escaped from slavery. As he came to know The Lord he felt called to return to Ireland and bring the Good News of Salvation to the largly barbarous peoples of the Emerald Isles.
Do read it all and ponder it. And do celebrate the man who Christianized Ireland and drove out all the snakes (so the legend has it.)

This will tank the economy. Zero percent interest means it is not worth it to lend money if you are a bank. Better to sit on it and wait for rates to rise. of course, the Fed will raise rates before the election and then the economy will REALLY tank. I've been worried Jerome Powell would pull a stunt like this even before this Coronavirus came on the scene. Now he has a perfect pretext to do it.

The Trump Administration is being blamed for not getting test kits ready for this Wuhan virus.
But why are they being blamed? The reality is, there was a fight between the CDC and the FDA. Apparently regulations kept the CDC from moving forward.
If Regulations have to be Suspended to Treat Coronavirus why do they Exist in the First Place?
It should be pointed out the Trump Administration had to turn to the private sector to produce test kits because the CDC - a government agency - dropped the ball. Proof that the government does few things well, and the private sector outperforms them every time.
From the article:
In particular, Golden shares a video from GOP Rep. Dan Crenshaw who reviews our regulatory process, which prevented getting a coronavirus test out to people.
"It only took them a few days, and it only took them a few days to get it up to millions of tests,†Crenshaw said.
"That’s the situation we’re in now. They loosened those restrictions and our private industry has stepped up to the plate,†Crenshaw added.
Golden also notes that a report in The New York Times that quotes infectious disease expert Dr. Helen Y. Chu.
Chu tried to start coronavirus testing in Seattle when cases were first confirmed in January, but the government had the ability to stop her.
"As luck would have it, Dr. Chu had a way to monitor the region. For months, as part of a research project into the flu, she and a team of researchers had been collecting nasal swabs from residents experiencing symptoms throughout the Puget Sound region,†The Times reported.
Chu was told by the CDC that she needed approval from the Food and Drug Administration. Or, she could use the CDC’s test which "was completely busted,†Western Journal notes.
Bureaucracy does little but restrain the productive and innovative. As Ronald Reagan famously stated, the most terrifying words in the English language are "I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine used to be considered a conservative. But he has been a huge disappointment since becoming governor. He promoted a 65% energy tax increase in the Buckeye State. He is an an enemy of the 2nd Amendment and has been since his days in the Senate. He chaired John McCain's election campaign. Nuff said?
So now RINO DeWine is canceling elections.
Here is his proclamation:

Rush Limbaugh has been saying for some time that the goal of the DemoLeft and Establishment in this country is to get rid of elections. This Wuhan virus can serve that purpose nicely, it seems to me.
There still aren't even a quarter of a million infections worldwide. But by all means, let's end the American franchise over this.

Yes, we all do, and for those of us who are cooped up, being serenaded like this could be wonderful. https://www.foxnews.com/media/coronavirus-italy-tenor-sings-quarantined-neighborsItalian tenor Maurizio Marchini serenaded his neighbors on Friday with Puccini's "Nessun Dorma" during what his wife characterized as a community "flash mob" as the country remains under a mass quarantine order due to the coronavirus contagion.
Marchini and his wife, Chiara Bagnoli, joined "The Daily Briefing" on Monday to discuss the impromptu concerto and how the country was faring overall.
"Music can lift spirits, and now there are many people who are suffering," Marchini said in Italian. "Not only the people who have these viruses, but also all the people who are helping them."
Bagnoli, who acted as her husband's translator, said Maurizio is trying to help his community through the situation the best way he can.
"The idea came from the flash mob, which we did not organize. We don’t know who did," said Bagnoli. "There was a flash mob on Friday [evening]. The idea was to go out on our balconies, the terraces and the gardens and make some music all together."
The couple said they had lost trackof how long the city has been quarantined. Italy had nearly 28,000 cases of the virus and more than 2,100 deaths as of Monday afternoon.
"I am kind of a couch potato so I don't mind being at home -- but it is difficult not to go out," Bagnoli added."We hope it will pass soon."

What he's saying here, I'm sure, is he's angry that Washington hasn't imposed a set of uniform rules on the entire country. But this thing doesn't call for a One Size Fits All approach. What may be best for New York City is most likely not what would work best for, let's say, South Bend, Indiana -- just to pick a smaller city whose name has been in the news recently. An approach that works for San Francisco or Chicago -- if any approach would work for them -- isn't necessarily best for Buffalo, NY. President Trump understands this.Governors in the nation's largest metro area have collectively decided to shutter bars, restaurants and movie theaters in an attempt to stem the growing number of coronavirus cases.
The governors of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut said that they are working to limit crowd capacity for recreational and social gatherings to 50 people starting at 8 p.m. on Monday throughout the tri-state area.
"Our primary goal right now is to slow the spread of this virus so that the wave of new infections doesn't crash our health care system, and everyone agrees social distancing is the best way to do that," New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a statement. "This is not a war that can be won alone, which is why New York is partnering with our neighboring states to implement a uniform standard that not only keeps our people safe but also prevents 'state shopping' where residents of one state travel to another and vice versa."
The governors said essential businesses like supermarkets and gas stations will be able to stay open after 8 p.m., though all non-essential businesses must close, including movie theaters and casinos. Restaurants will be able to offer take-out and delivery.
The steps mark the latest escalation of efforts to keep people apart in the New York metropolitan area, and an attempt to coordinate a response to the COVID-19 crisis.
"We've got to work through this together. The feds have been asleep at the switch," Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont told reporters on a conference call.
Lamont, Cuomo, and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy are Democrats. The trio took aim at what they called lagging federal action in response to the crisis. It's unclear when business will return to normal.
"It's chaos. I think it actually feeds the feeling that the country's out of control. There is no clear direction, there is no clear path,†Cuomo said during a joint conference call with the other governors.

GOP lawmaker not scared of coronavirus, says 'more people have died from knowing Hillary'
Politifact fact-checked this and decided it was incorrect. But then, it wasn't just Hillary but the Clinton body count in general. 140 people dead of Arkancide, 70 from Wuhan. So if you divide the Clinton total in half then this is factually correct, or close to it.

In contrast, she argued Republicans are skeptical and more susceptible to death from the coronavirus.

Now we get to the nub of why the media has been pushing full blown panic.
Swooning Stocks Signal Higher Likelihood of Trump Losing Election - Moody's Analytics
U.S. stock market rout triggered by a deadly coronavirus outbreak suggests President Donald Trump is in grave danger of losing the November election, according to a forecasting model by Moody's Analytics, a leading Wall Street research firm.
That's a big change from what the model showed using data from February, when higher stock prices and Trump's steady approval rating pointed to the Republican president coasting to victory with 351 votes in the U.S. Electoral College to 187 votes for a Democratic challenger.
We knew this was what it was about. Now Reuters confirms our worst suspicions.

Buried in the
coronavirus bill are a couple of provisions.
One, small businesses must give employees TWO WEEKS of PAID time off for the illness. Businesses get a tax credit on next year's taxes. That assumes the business survives.
The second mandates three months of paid leave to care for family member, etc. This is a small business mandate and I did not see a tax credit provision for this mandate.
There are a lot of small businesses that cannot survive these mandates.
EDIT: I just rechecked and it looks like the three month provision is silent on whether it has to be paid leave or not. Still, how many small businesses can take that hit.
