This day

Dana Mathewson

When you undertake to blog, you spend a fair amount of time scouring other sites and "borrowing" their best stuff. Luckily, there is a great amount of it available, much of it on William Katz's estimable Urgent Agenda site. I commend to your attention this one:

THIS DAY – AT 11:52 A.M. ET: In two days we will commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the launching of the invasion, in 1944, to liberate northern Europe from the Nazis. But let us also remember that today, June 4th, was the date of liberation of Rome, in that same year. That liberation was overshadowed by the D-Day landings in France two days later.

The two dates remind us of the enormity of World War II. It literally was a world war. We were fighting in North Africa, Italy, in the skies over Germany. We were fighting on islands in the Pacific, including the Philippines, in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, in CBI – China, Burma, India. It is almost impossible for us to imagine the sheer magnitude of the conflict.

Of course we had allies. They were critical. We may hate to admit it, but the Soviet Union, a complete dictatorship, played a critical role in victory over the Nazis in Europe. The people of China were on our side, as they fought off the brutal Japanese occupation.

American women were mobilized, as never before, to work in war plants, especially the aircraft plants of California. "Rosie the riveter" became a national heroine.

"The War," as it was always called, saw a reluctant America emerge in 1945 as the world's leading superpower, the only nation that could build and deliver an atomic bomb.

Our young generation, which had lived through the depths of the Depression, performed well in World War II, and came back and built a new nation, moving westward.

We learned powerful lessons from "the war," the most important echoing George Washington's admonition that the best way to preserve peace is to prepare for war.

I fear we're forgetting that lesson.

Yes. we are indeed. Please read the rest of this and don't forget! http://www.urgentagenda.com/PERMALINKS%20IX/JUNE%202019/04.today.HTML

The National Identity of Victimhood

Timothy Birdnow

Dana Mathewson forwards this article from Powerline about Minneapolis going all-out race grievance/social justice despite having no tradition of segregation or racism in the state.

I made the following observation:

I'm not surprised. America has accepted "multiculturalism" which is not about celebrating different cultures but rather about having different NATIONS coexisting in the same space, and the black community knows they do not have an unique culture, or at least they don't have an African American history divorced from slavery and persecution. So they don't want it to end, because it means their culture has nothing to offer. It's rather like adult children of alcoholics; there is a kind of co-dependency with persecution and suffering. That is why there are so many fake hate crimes these days. That is why there are so many allegations of sleights and insults from white people, even when none are offered or intended. Black people don't want a color blind America because then they won't see themselves as having a heritage or place in our nation. So with the old racism dying, they desperately cling to the notion that America is still as bad as it ever was. Without racism so many of them would have nothing.

VDH -- Is Germany becoming Germany, again?

Dana Mathewson

Merkel’s evident anti-Americanism is a familiar refrain.

This is from National Review and, like all of Hanson's articles, well worth the time to read it (it's not short!). It describes, at the beginning, how Angela Merkel, in speaking at Harvard, did a great Barack Obama imitation, revealing her anti-Americanism. Apparently she doesn't like Trump either. Well, poo on her!

Fay Voshell adds:

I just received a link to this from my youngest son, to whom I wrote the following:

That's a great analysis.

I remembering predicting to Jonathan (my eldest son) in 1989, when the wall fell and Germany was reunified, that within a generation it would begin showing its strength again. It's been one and a half generations, with a generation being counted as twenty years, and Germany is the economic powerhouse of Europe and is the big stick behind the EU. Add military strength; and voila, repeat and rinse history.

One huge clue to the current German disposition is this: As Hanson notes, Merkel grew up in Communist East Germany. Totalitarianism, as you know, was baked into the political cake. She is only revealing her Stasi leanings; leanings that are not so different than fascism.

Phone Voting

Timothy Birdnow

Not content with just stuffing the ballot boxes, the Democrats now want phone voting.

Gee, what could go wrong?

From World Net Daily:

One supporter of the idea, who "grew rich helping Uber,” sees mobile voting as "a potential cure for an ailing democracy,” the Times said.

It’s Bradley Tusk, who is betting that "the gospel of mobile voting will spread so fast that most Americans will have the option of casting their ballots for president by phone as soon as 2028.”

Denver also is considering elections by phone.

Tusk argues the percent of voters taking part in elections would rocket if phone voting was widespread.

"I don’t see a world where the country can survive long term without something that fixes the dysfunction. Maybe this is that something.”

He’s meeting with election officials wherever he can, volunteering to pay for pilot programs, and he expects to work with several states as early as 2020.

Mike Queen, the deputy chief of staff for West Virginia’s secretary of state, told the Times he’s confident the technology "can be perfected, but people have to look at this.”

But Josh Benaloh, a senior cryptographer at Microsoft, told the Times that people who claim they have secure voting technology are selling "magic beans.”

So, the Russians hack two voter databases in Florida and we are told it's a national emergency, but at the same time we are supposed to let people vote via their smart phones while they are getting gassed on Jack and Coke. Sure. Real secure.

How hard will it be for these Russian hackers to game the phones? For that matter, how hard will it be for the makers of the phones to hack the phones? We could be looking at elections being stolen by Apple...

For that matter, how do you avoid having phones stolen so the votes can be stolen?

America already makes voting far too easy; there is little effort necessary. It's important that voters be serious about their franchise, and registering to vote the same day or having people pick up your ballots means your vote is not serious. In fact, it could easily be bought, which is the whole point. Phone voting would make the electoral process meaningless.

The Democrats should learn to win elections on the merits of what they want to do, not by tricking the foolish and promoting ways to cheat.

Remember when Christians obeyed God?

Dana Mathewson

Time for a bit of preaching. This is from WorldNetDaily, wherein

Mychal Massie says many 'have bought the lie that there are acceptable sins'

It is time for those who claim to be Christians to stop wringing their hands and behaving as if whining and telling everyone how afraid they are is a prolepsis that depicts spiritual discernment.

We stand at a pivotal moment in time. I speak specifically to those who call themselves Christians: Today is the day of decision. You must decide if you will obey God or pretend to have no choice but to go along with the evil permeating America.

America’s devolvement to this unprecedented level of debauched paganism isn’t because of liberals, neo-Leninists, socialists, the courts or craven Republicans. America has fallen prey to immorality heretofore un-thought of, because Christians have bought the lie that there are acceptable sins and excusable sins.

Christians have ceased to fear God more than they fear sinful man. The "little foxes have ruined the vineyards that [were] in bloom” as the Shulammite woman said to Solomon. (See: Song of Solomon 2:15, KJV)

Christians slowly but steadfastly allowed the seemingly little and harmless things to lead America away from God. Christians have invited those seemingly little things into their homes. Many people tell me that they cannot understand why their adult children are spiritual train wrecks. Many times it’s because the family failed to say no to sin.

We said no to Nike shoes and sportswear when the company chose to applaud the lies and divisive rhetoric of Colin Kaepernick. I was born in America, grew up in America. I am educated and more than double his age. Those in my home and I refused to give access to Nike’s toxic alchemy of division.

We said no to Target and refuse to shop their stores. We stand with God’s definition of family and marriage. We refuse to participate in the support of any store that advances homosexuality, transgenderism and men using the bathroom with female members of our family.

And so forth. Very much worth your time to read! It's found here: https://www.wnd.com/2019/06/remember-when-christians-obeyed-god/

Global Warming to cause "End of Civilization"

Timothy Birdnow

The Gang Green is now prediccting the end of civilization because of global warming. Yes, they have finally gone there.

From the New Zealand Herald:

Authors David Spratt, a researcher into climate change, and Ian Dunlop, former chairman of the Australian Coal Association and chair of the Australian Greenhouse Office Experts Group on Emissions Trading, propose a scenario in which global emissions and climate threats are ignored, and the trajectory of environmental collapse goes unchecked.

Their conclusions spell out a dire warning.

Using climate data, Spratt and Dunlop claim the Earth can expect at least a 3C rise in temperatures, which would trigger global decay and destruction of crucial ecosystems, including the Arctic, Amazon rainforests and coral reefs.

"More than a billion people may need to be relocated, and in high-end scenarios, the scale of destruction is beyond our capacity to model, with a high likelihood of human civilisation coming to an end," Spratt and Dunlop warn.

By 2050, total ecological collapse would give way to massive social consequences ranging from "increased religious fervour to outright chaos".

The report suggests the catastrophic chain of environmental disasters will climax with widespread pandemics, forced migration from inhabitable locations and a likely nuclear war due to skirmishing for limited resources.

"Planetary and human systems (reach) a 'point of no return' by mid-century in which the prospect of a largely uninhabitable Earth leads to the breakdown of nations and the international order," the report predicts.

I would call these clowns crackpots, but that would be an insult to crackpots everywhere.

In point of fact, the global warming crowd has grown desperate as nobody is listening to their doomsday predictions. They had it all figured out; they would promote dubious science via the IPCC, make apocalyptic predictions for thirty, fifty years out, and then offer the solution; world government and international socialism. It had all the earmarks of an infomercial; present a desperate need, stress the emergency, "act now, before it's too late", then present the solution. It is advertising 101. It reminds me of the musical The Music Man "we've got trouble - right here!" And we have a perfect solution; one as devoid of merit as Harold Hill's. Remember, Hill was a con man, not a musician, and he planned to swindle the town out of the cost of band uniforms and music instruction. He was going to skip town before the due date. Global warming is worse, because they planned on having the world so tied up win the solution they wouldn't have to skip town. Not that they haven't made big money on this scheme; fortunes have piled up selling carbon credits and carbon amelioration technology, "green" energy, etc. But in the end this was the long con, where the victims wouldn't know they were scammed.

It didn't work out that way, but these people refuse to give up so juicy a scheme. They keep pushing on the theory that the younger generation will buy it. They figure the young will forget that they have made the same predictions over and over and have been wrong.

Global warming has become like a bad Dracula franchise, with a series of stale, poorly done reboots.

Dana Mathewson adds tuppence:

I had to be up before dawn cracked this morning, and was able to spend time looking around. I found an article which takes a different tack: https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/the-education-of-greta-thunberg-naivety-meets-reality-for-the-teen-climate-alarmist/

Made up Racism

Timothy Birdnow

Fake racism and lies ; how the Left pushes "social justice" with children.

From John Hinderaker at Powerline:

Sure enough: the story started with a Facebook post by Marvelyne Lamy, a teacher at the charter school:

On Thursday, May 16, 2019, some of the 7th grade students as well as the 7th grade teachers went on a field trip to the Museum of Fine Arts to look at some exhibits to enhance what they’ve learned in their history class. I should add my students are ALL black and brown. At the very beginning of the tour, one of the staff gave an overview on what to expect and told the kids no food, no drink, and no watermelon (we didn’t know they said this until the end).

So after the visit had turned into a racial incident, a student apparently volunteered the reference to watermelons. But wait! The MFA staffer who welcomed the kids was asked what happened:

he MFA’s report states that the staff member who greeted the students recalled saying that "no food, no drink and no water bottles” were allowed in the galleries.

Continuing with Ms. Lamy’s account:

There were other groups of students that were there, but those students were white. We were instructed not to touch any of the artifacts in the museum, yet the white students there touched the displays several times while security looked on without saying anything. The minute one of our students followed suit, the security guards would yell at them that they should not touch exhibits.

I don’t actually believe this. Museum guards don’t have much to do. The main thing they watch out for is people touching paintings or statues. If you do that, or look like you are about to, they will warn you not to touch anything. The idea that whites are allowed to touch artifacts in museums is ridiculous.

And the students go on to explain how they were told by their parents and teachers that they had no chance of ever being treated right because of the color of their skin. Doesn't that suggest that, no matter how they were treated, they would find some slight to be offended by?There is ALWAYS something to be mad about if you look hard enough.

And the kids were doing things like a "model walk" as they called it. In other words, they were acting up.

What we see in modern America are two standards of behavior, one for white kids and one for minorities. Unlike the way many minorities try to characterize it, the standard is one of leniency for minorities. They can use foul language. They can push to the front of the line. They can be loud and throw things. If they are chastised the inevitable complaint of racism come forth. And they believe they can't get a break. Well, they can't, but whose fault is that? The people who are supposed to be teaching them fail in that task, and then blame white America instead of their own bad behavior.

If you don't play by the rules you won't get ahead. If you do, you are getting ahead for the wrong reason. In the end nobody is doing you a favor teaching you to flip society the bird.

Question; if the museum said "no watermelon" why didn't they say "no fried chicken" or "no chitterlings"? These kids are most likely lying. Kids pick up on how to game the system early - black, white, brown, and yellow, it doesn't matter. They realize they can act out and get away with it by using a few choice phrases. What is sad is that the adults who should be wise to this are encouraging them to lie.

We will never solve the race problem until we start holding everyone to the same standards.

African Invasion of Southern Border

Timothy Birdnow

Illegal aliens from Africa are showing up at our southern border.

From Powerline:

The White House has done its part to get the story out. The Daily Mail quotes this White House tweet: "Last night, U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended more than 100 illegal aliens from Congo, Angola, and Cameroon near the U.S.–Mexico border.” This proposition has the added advantage of truth: "Our southern border is now a magnet for illegal immigration from all over the world. It’s time for Democrats to help close the loopholes!”

There is a back story here. How did these folks get to Mexico and why didn’t they seek refuge or lawful entry to the United States from there?

U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Del Rio Sector apprehended a large group of 116 individuals—from Angola, Cameroon and Congo—after they illegally crossed the Rio Grande River into the U.S. on

Yes indeed; who is paying for air travel to Central America? Someone has to be financing this. And what are these people carrying? Dengue Fever? Ebola? I rather suspect many of them are coming here hoping to receive treatment for diseases, treatment they can't get in their shithole countries. (Yes, I said it.)

Flags of Their Fathers: The Obon Society and a U.S.-Japanese wartime cultural gap finally bridged

Jack Kemp

During WWII, American soldiers and Marines who fought in the Pacific took home souvenirs. Quite often, those souvenirs were Japanese national flags with much writing on the white large space, flags that were carried inside the uniform shirt or jacket of deceased Japanese soldiers. These items are very colorful and the Americans could not read the words so they did not realize their personal significance. And emotions run high shortly after battles. The Japanese military did not issue metal identification tags such as U.S. warriors wore around their necks. Instead, Japanese soldiers carried flags with good wishes from family members and townspeople from their village or neighborhood. And - obviously - the Americans could not read the words, perhaps thinking they were just words of encouragement to fight rather than family well wishes. Around 200 of these flags have since been returned to Japan so far. I have to report that a number of these types of flags are also for sale on the internet, a cause of great criticism. If you look up "ww2 japanese flag" on eBay, you will find some of them selling for around $200 or more.

But it recent years, Americans have learned the great personal significance of those flags and that there is an organization in Oregon with connections to Japan called the Obon Society that will collect these flags and then send them to Japan where scholars will research and track down family members to return the flag to. Often, the surviving family member is the now elderly child of that Japanese warrior. Often a brother of the deceased soldier will read the returned flag and cry. People in Japan who receive such flags consider it to be the return of the soul (or part of it) of their deceased relative. In fact, in a few cases, the American soldier, now typically in their 90s, will actually make a trip to Japan to present the flag to the family in person.

The Obon Society used to be called "Obon 2015" because they wanted to have all the flags returned by end of the seventieth anniversary of the end of WWII, but the mission still goes on well after that date. The founders are a Western man and a Japanese lady (she appears in Youtube videos to be his wife) who receive the flags Americans are now returning and it is a healing and gracious act for all the people involved.

One can see short but very moving multiple Youtube videos concerning these stories at:

The Mueller Investigation Was Always an Impeachment Probe

Dana Mathewson

Those of you who read my posts are aware of my admiration of Andrew McCarthy's writing. He's an excellent lawyer who can explain legal situations to laymen and make us understand them. He certainly does so here.
The special counsel abdicated on obstruction to avoid a confrontation with the Justice Department and get his evidence to Congress.

Why mention the OLC guidance at all?

That is the question for Bob Mueller, left hanging by the statement his office jointly issued with Justice Department flacks on Wednesday (5/22/19), clarifying (as it were) remarks he had made hours earlier at his parting-shot press conference.

At issue is Mueller’s decision to punt on the question of whether President Trump should be indicted for obstruction of justice. In his startling remarks, Mueller sought to justify himself by citing instruction from the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel. The longstanding OLC opinion, an outgrowth of Nixon- and Clinton-era scandals, holds that a sitting president may not be indicted. The two press offices were struggling to reconcile (a) Mueller’s pointed reliance on this OLC guidance at the presser with (b) his prior disclaimers of such reliance.

According to Attorney General Bill Barr, in a meeting over two weeks before Mueller submitted his final report, the special counsel emphatically denied that his refusal to render a prosecutorial judgment on obstruction hinged on the OLC guidance. Naturally, in their continuing quest to frame Barr as the most diabolical villain since Lex Luthor, the media-Democrat complex insisted that the AG must be lying.

This is what derangement will do to you. I do not think Mueller’s contradictory assertions are that hard to figure out. But if you were inclined to blame sleight of hand, the culprit would be Mueller. You’ll notice that when we finally heard from him on Wednesday, he lauded Barr’s good faith, never claiming that the AG had misrepresented him. Moreover, the conversation between them on the OLC guidance was not a one-on-one affair. There were other people in the room when Mueller denied that the OLC guidance was his rationale for abdicating.

[...]

For most of his investigation, Mueller was "supervised” by acting AG Rod Rosenstein, who did not comply with special-counsel regulations in appointing him, and who promised Democrats that he would be effectively independent. As long as the studiously passive Rosenstein was at the helm, the staff-driven Mueller was free to investigate under his loose, envelope-pushing obstruction theory. Once Barr became AG, however, it was clear that Mueller’s theory was not going to fly.

So, let’s play out the alternative scenario.

Let’s say that, having convinced himself he had a strong obstruction case, Mueller decided to recommend that the president be charged. That would have forced a confrontation over the issue that has been sidestepped: What are the correct standards for evaluating an obstruction allegation against a president? There would have been a brawl at Main Justice. The report would have been held up while the matter was debated.

More to the point, Mueller and such top staffers as Andrew Weissmann and Michael Dreeben, who have operated at the top echelon of the Justice Department, would have known that the attorney general would win such a battle ten times out of ten. That goes double for an AG such as Barr, a highly regarded legal thinker who, besides now being AG twice, ran the OLC in the Bush 41 administration. He was not going to be intimidated or bulldozed by Mueller’s staff.

Remember: Mueller’s staff is looking at this as if they were congressional impeachment counsel. Their objective is to get their evidence to Congress bearing something close to the stamp of an indictable felonies.

Please keep reading. I may be wrong, but I believe he's having a hard time keeping his contempt for Mueller under control. It just gets better and better, and Mueller gets himself tied in knots. The article is here: https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/05/robert-mueller-investigation-was-always-impeachment-probe/

This is the chimera upon which the Donkey Party thinks they can hang the president. My prediction is: Fat Chance, folks. Do they really think they stand no chance of beating him the legitimate way, on Election Day?

Hmmm.... looking at the candidates riding in their Clown Car, maybe impeachment is the only way, but how will they get the Republican Senate to go along? Even though there is at least one turncoat in the ranks?

Till Trump spouts black blood and rolls fin out.

Timothy Birdnow

The great Victor Davis Hansen seems to be a reader of The Aviary, or at least thinks a lot like The Aviary's editor. Just as I have done in the past, Hansen compares the Democrats to Ahab, and Trump to the Great White Whale Moby Dick.

From National Review:

The Democratic establishment has become something like novelist Herman Melville’s phobic Captain Ahab, who became fatally absorbed with chasing his nemesis, the albino whale Moby Dick. The great white whale once ate part of Ahab’s leg, and he demands revenge — even if such a never-ending neurosis leads to the destruction of his ship and crew. So far, Trump seems to have escaped all of their efforts to spear and remove him before the 2020 election. Trump, like Moby Dick, seems a weird force of nature whose wounds from constant attacks only seem to make him more indestructible and his attackers even more obsessed with their prey.

Back on April 25 I wrote here at The Aviary:

They are never going to let this drop. In fact, when Trump leaves office they will likely pursue him. And what has made them so desperate is that Bob Barr, U.S. Attorney General, has suggested he's going to get to the bottom of this whole sordid affair. The Left cannot have the truth exposed, that they have weaponized the CIA and FBI and are trying to overturn the results of a fair election. There were crimes committed here, but crimes by Hillary, by Barack Obama, by John Brennan, by James Comey, by any number of top officials appointed by Obama. This was and is an attempted coup by the former junta.

They cannot let this go because they cannot allow this to come to light. And it was with the full participation of the American media, who know full well that Hillary Clinton commissioned the Steele Dossier to destroy Trump well before the election night. Trump was spied on for political reasons and no other. The media knows it. But they are desperate to hide their own complicity, and desperate to destroy Trump so as to restore the "natural order" in Washington and return America to the path of internationalism, and Fabian socialism.

They give away the game here:

Essentially, legal experts say, Mueller is signaling that Trump could face criminal charges even if he was impeached.

They plan to pursue Trump tot he ends of the Earth, in this life or the next. They are all Ahab now:

How can the prisoner reach outside except by thrusting through the wall? To me, the white whale is that wall, shoved near to me. Sometimes I think there's naught beyond. But 'tis enough. He tasks me; he heaps me; I see in him outrageous strength, with an inscrutable malice sinewing it. That inscrutable thing is chiefly what I hate; and be the white whale agent, or be the white whale principal, I will wreak that hate upon him.

[...]

"Aye, aye! and I'll chase him round Good Hope, and round the Horn, and round the Norway Maelstrom, and round perdition's flames before I give him up. And this is what ye have shipped for, men! to chase that white whale on both sides of land, and over all sides of earth, till he spouts black blood and rolls fin out."

Slaying the Audience

Timothy Birdnow

Disney and Netflix are plotting a boycott of Georgia for their abortion ban. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee made the obvious deduction in a tweet:

So Disney thinks most of its customers for its children's movies and toys are women who aborted their babies rather than the ones who have a house full of kids? Disney CEO isn't real smart.

Family entertainment sure ain't what it used to be!

Democrtats' New Amnesty; so goes Rome...

Timothy Birdnow

The Democrats propose unrestricted amnesty for illegal aliens. Conservative HQ has the story:

Like its companion bill reviewed above, H.R. 2821 waives, automatically, certain grounds of inadmissibility, including public charge, prior illegal presence, failure to attend removal proceedings, visa or admission fraud, false claims to US citizenship, and previous removal.

It also allows DHS to waive of other grounds of inadmissibility, including for aliens with communicable diseases or a lack of vaccinations, drug abusers or addicts, aliens with health issues that pose a threat to public safety, aliens convicted of crimes of moral turpitude, controlled substance traffickers, aliens engaged in prostitution, stowaways, human smugglers, aliens subject to a civil penalty, student visa abusers, and unlawful voters.

H.R. 2821 also places an enforcement freeze on any alien "who appears to be prima facie eligible for relief,” until they have received a final decision establishing eligibility. Our friends at NumbersUSA remind us that under a similar provision in Obama’s original DACA, ICE could not place any alien who claimed to be eligible in removal proceedings, including those in jail with criminal charges.

Like H.R. 2820, H.R. 2821 also establishes a taxpayer-funded grant program for nonprofits to assist illegal aliens in acquiring LPR status under the bill if it becomes law.

Now THAT is really the way to build a winning political coalition! Thumb America in the eye!

Of course, if they could get this, they wouldn't need America to get elected; they could just import the votes they need.

How long will Americans put up with this? There are people who vote Democratic no matter what; the black vote comes to mind. It's an almost religious faith they have. But sooner or later they have got to realize they are being used and discarded. Certainly the black community should realize that the Democrats are tossing them aside like squeezed fruit.

If they succeed at this project there will be no America, at least not as we have known it. There will be a multilingual, multicultural country that has little in common, no common culture or heritage or traditions, and nothing will hold it together. America will collapse because everyone will demand a slice of the pie and nobody will sacrifice for the common good, as there will be no common. This is what made Rome fall.

Barbarossa

Mark Musser reminds us of the Nazi invasion of the U.S.S.R.:

On the summer solstice, June 22, 1941, Operation Barbarossa was unleashed by the German Wehrmacht against the Soviet Union that cost them 25-30 million lives. Hitler divided his forces into three primary army units called Army Group North, Center, and South. Army Group North attacked into the Baltics and laid Siege to Leningrad. Army Group South attacked Ukraine. Army Group Center attacked Russia using Belarus as its staging ground. This essentially meant that Belarus was at the heart of German invasion, and that Belarussians in particular would pay a catastrophic price. 1 in 3 Belarussians lost their lives in World War II, which includes Holocaust victims as well. With no small thanks to its biological Social Darwinism and Malthusian ecology, Germany had massive depopulation plans in the works for the East in addition to just killing people on the battlefield. There were more Soviet civilians who died in World War II than soldiers.

The city, with a population topping four million and a broader metropolitan area with many millions more, is awash in massive problems — overcrowding, lack of housing, and high demand for free services among them. But other far more serious problems are lurking, Dr. Drew Pinksy said on Thursday.

"We have a complete breakdown of the basic needs of civilization in Los Angeles right now,” Pinsky told Fox New host Laura Ingraham. "We have the three prongs of airborne disease, tuberculosis is exploding, rodent-borne. We are one of the only cities in the country that doesn’t have a rodent control program, and sanitation has broken down.”

Pinsky said bubonic plague — also known as the "Black Death,” a pandemic that killed off millions in the 14th century — is "likely” already present in Los Angeles. The plague is spread by infected fleas and exposure to bodily fluids from a dead plague-infected animal, with the bacteria entering through the skin and traveling to lymph nodes.

Typhus, which broke out in the city last year, will likely return, Pinsky said. Already, a Los Angeles police officer has contracted typhoid fever, which infects fewer than 350 Americans each year. The various types of typhus are caused by a bacterial infection and spread by body lice, chiggers or fleas. In the 1600s, the disease decimated Germany.

"This is unbelievable. I can’t believe I live in a city where this is not Third World. This is medieval,” Pinsky said, according to Fox News. "Third World countries are insulted if they are accused of being like this. No city on Earth tolerates this. The entire population is at risk.”

Pinsky said the city simply can't handle the demand for services, noting that many homeless are mentally ill and don't want to accept housing.

"The government is somehow insisting that housing is the problem when in fact we have chronic mental illness, we have addiction, we have people who don’t want to leave the streets,” Pinsky said. "They literally won’t take the housing if we give it to them. And that’s the population that’s vulnerable, and is going to get so ill this summer. It scares me for their well-being.”

The famed doctor also said California cities are suffering after allowing thousands of illegal aliens to flow in. He said the liberal politicians running most cities are "disgustingly negligent.”

That last sentence pretty well sums it up, for the whole country. Now just imagine somebody like Joe Biden in the White House. Makes you shudder, doesn't it?

Circuit Judge Keeps Planned Parenthood Open

Timothy Birdnow

A St. Louis Circuit Judge aka a Democrat political hack has ordered that Planned Parenthood's abortion mill be allowed to remain open despite statute and health violations.

St. Louis Circuit Judge Michael Stelzer issued the order to keep the last abortion mill in Missouri open, despite safety concerns and the fact the State was not going to renew their license. His reasoning? It would HURT PLANNED PARENTHOOD!

Stelszer has issued this as a temporary injunction. He will hold a hearing on this case Tuesday.

I would like to know how a judge who received his doctor of jurisprudence from a mail-order school can stop a state order. But that is modern America; judicial overreach is running rampant, largely because the Left can't win this stuff at the ballot box.

Dealing with the Devil

Timothy Birdnow

Here is the strangest of strange bedfellows; Alexandria Occluded Cortex and Ted Cruz have partnered up!

From the Daily Wire story:

On Thursday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) — a duo in Congress who could not have more polarized views on most issues — signaled support in a potential bill targeting congressmen-turned-lobbyists, AKA "the swamp.”

"If you are a member of Congress + leave, you shouldn’t be allowed to turn right around [and] leverage your service for a lobbyist check,” argued Ocasio-Cortez, reacting to a Public Citizen report claiming "nearly 60% of former members of the 115th Congress who have taken jobs outside of politics are now lobbying or have other jobs influencing federal policy.”

Amen, amen, I say to you; lobbying shouud not be permitted by former legislators - at least for a while. That is a large part of why our system has become so dysfunctional; Congress swine are selling their services before they even leave the dirtypwhite funnyfarm. I hope Cruz tries to tack on an amendment to this to make it illegal to move from government to the media; that is even worse than what is happening with lobbyists. Lobbyists at least honestly pick your pocket. Politicians turned media people pretend to be dispassionate and balanced.

Somehow I don't think this "your peanut butter is on my chocolate...no, your chocolate is on my peanut butter" routine is going to make for a permanent alliance.
