Democrat Traps and the Shutdown

Timothy Birdnow

I just heard Rush Limbaugh speculating about what he is reading on a number of blogs. The claim is that the Democrats are laying a trap for Trump, trying to get him to go ahead and sign the budget bill reopening government then using his authority to declare an emergency to build the wall. The idea is a judge will stop it, so Trump loses all around; no wall, he reopened government, and he winds up looking foolish.

I don't think Trump will fall into that particular trap. He's been overturned by the courts repeatedly and has to know they can and will do that here. And he also knows the wall is a deal breaker with the American People.

What I would do if I were Trump would be keep the government closed but go ahead and declare the state of emergency anyway. Make the Democrats go to court to stop him. They then show their hand and it becomes clear THEY are more concerned with illegal aliens than the American People. Once Trump signs the devil's compact he's finished. He can pressure them by starting the wall withotu the Donkeys, and force them to either accept or be irrelevant.

You Want Collusion? Laura Ingraham Gives You Collusion

Dana Mathewson

Ever since the morning after Election Day 2016, the Democrat Party and their media lapdogs have been obsessing over the idea of collusion -- as you well know.

Well, Fox News host Laura Ingraham gives us her "take" on collusion here -- and needless to say, she's not talking about Russia.

Trump has exposed the real collusion – It's between the media and open-border Democrats

On Tuesday, I told you how President Trump exposed the Democrats' true shutdown motives - namely, the Democrats love the partial government shutdown because they think it helps them politically, which is why they refuse to move even an inch on the issue of wall funding. On Wednesday, the president exposed the media's motives in this drama as well.

Rather than giving us in-depth, objective reporting on the effects of illegal immigration on average Americans --all of you out there, on your jobs, on your schools, on your safety and on your health -- the media spend their airtime parroting Democrat attacks on the president's character and motives. Now, before the president's speech Tuesday night, the media vowed to do their insta fact-checking - they wanted to do this in real-time.

Well, the fact-check squad didn't fare too well. I would have rather had the Mod Squad, frankly. In the aftermath of the Oval Office address, the media collapsed away from the fact-checks into old tropes and well some awkward admissions. What happened to the fact check? They just devolved into "Well, he [President Trump] looked tired."

The media's latest tactic -- and we're going to see more of it in the coming days -- is to re-feature the sob stories of government workers, who still, by the way, have not missed a paycheck. Well, watch carefully on what they're doing here. Rank emotional manipulation. Pure propaganda. Now, how many of these segments did they do over the years on American workers who got pushed out of entire industries as unscrupulous employers hire them for cash or at a fraction of the salary. How many close-up interviews of victims of illegal alien crime did they do? By the way, those people aren't experiencing a temporary loss of income, but a permanent loss of a family member.

Etc. It's a good article. Laura's a good analyst. I think she might have gone farther and taken up Rush Limbaugh's contention that, in fact, the media -- what he likes to call the "Drive-By Media" -- actually drives the Democrat Party's agenda. Whether or not it's actually true, I think it's obvious that the media is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Democrat Party.

The entire article is here: https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/laura-ingraham-trump-has-exposed-the-real-collusion-its-between-the-media-and-open-border-democrats

I wonder if Laura isn't being redundant when she says "open-border Democrats." Is there another kind?

Dems approved border wall in JORDAN

Jack Kemp forwards this:

NetZero Message Center

Democrats Funded a 287 Mile Wall in
Jordan Last Year! But Won't Fund
Border Wall in US!

Nancy Pelosi argued this week that "walls are immoral." Chuck Schumer called President Trump's stand against open borders a "manufactured crisis!" But less than one year ago Pelosi and Schumer approved funding on a 287 mile long border wall  in JORDAN! Neil Munro at Breitbart.com reported at the time. The 2018 omnibus provides just enough funds to build 33 miles of fencing on the Texas border” but it also provides $500 million to help Jordan build a wall and defense line against jihad terrorists trying to cross its 287-mile border with Iraq and Syria.

Trump thumps Gov. Newsome

Jack Kemp

Who does Newsome think he is? Octavio-Cortez?

Almost exactly 12 hours after newly inaugurated California Gov. Gavin Newsom posted a tweet criticizing President Donald Trump's Oval Office address to the nation, the president seemingly fired back by threatening to cut off FEMA funding to the left-wing governor's state.
"Billions of dollars are sent to the State of California for Forest fires that, with proper Forest Management, would never happen,â" the president tweeted at 10:25 am EST Wednesday morning.

"Unless they get their act together, which is unlikely, I have ordered FEMA to send no more money. It is a disgraceful situation in lives & money!"

END OF QUOTE

I remember a song from the 1960s. "Burn, Baby, Burn. Burn the Mother Down..."

Fay Voshell adds:

I see that in a nod to gender neutrality, his wife wants to be called "First Partner" rather than "First Lady."

You can't make this stuff up.

She's a passionate advocate for "gender equality." The family is what used to be called a typical American family, including two dogs and a bunny plus 4 kids, but she and her "partner" are actually against the traditional family comprised of husband, wife and children. Go figure out that perception warp! Here's the whole story:Governor's wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom to go by "first partner"

We Really Did Survive 2018

Dana Mathewson

The Drive-By media would have you believe that the only reason we're still here as a country is because they, with the help of their friends in the Democrat Party (or is it the other way around?) worked tirelessly to thwart the machinations of the Evil Donald Trump, and we should be everlastingly grateful to them -- or something like that.

However, one of the country's truly wise men, retired professor Victor Davis Hanson, in an article in Jewish World Review, tells us how it REALLY was.

Actually, 2018 was a pretty good year

The year 2018 will be deplored by pundits as a bad year of more unpredictable Donald Trump, headlined by wild stock market gyrations, the melodramas of the Robert Mueller investigation and the musical-chair tenures of officials in the Trump administration.

The government is still shut down. Talk of impeachment by the newly Democrat-controlled House of Representatives is in the air. Seemingly every day there are sensational breakthroughs, scandals and bombshells that race through social media and the Internet -- only to be forgotten by the next day.

In truth, aside from the Washington hysterias, 2018 was a most successful year for Americans.

He takes some time to detail our oil production, which in 2018 returned the U.S. to the position of the world's top producer of petroleum, making us no longer beholden to corrupt Middle East states.

And he talks about our burgeoning economy, with the related drop in unemployment.

For me, the best parts are here:

Abroad, lots of bad things that were supposed to happen simply did not.

After withdrawing from the Paris climate accord, the U.S. exceeded the annual percentage of carbon reductions of most countries that are part of the agreement.

North Korea and the U.S. did not go to war. Instead, North Korea has stopped its provocative nuclear testing and its launching of ballistic missiles over the territory of its neighbors.

Despite all the Trump bluster, NATO and NAFTA did not quite implode. Rather, allies and partners agreed to renegotiate past commitments and agreements on terms more favorable to the U.S.

The United States -- and increasingly most of the world -- is at last addressing the systematic commercial cheating, technological appropriation, overt espionage, intellectual-property theft, cyber intrusions and mercantilism of the Chinese government.

The Middle East is still chaotic, but it is a mess that is now far less important to the U.S. for a variety of reasons. Energy-wise, America is not dependent on oil imports from corrupt Gulf monarchies or hostile Islamic states. Strategy-wise, the new fault lines are not Arab and Islamic cultures versus Israel or the United States. Instead, it is internecine strife within the Islamic world, mostly with Iran and its Shiite satellites opposing the Sunni Arab monarchies and more moderate Middle Eastern regimes.
The entire article is here, and highly recommended, as is everything by Hanson: http://www.jewishworldreview.com/0119/hanson010319.php3

Funding the Climate-Industrial Complex

Paul Driessen

As energy analyst Tom Tamarkin observes in this article, the $2-trillion-per-year climate research, renewable energy and activist business is almost entirely dependent on the claim that fossil fuel emissions – carbon dioxide and other "greenhouse gases” – are causing dangerous global warming and climate change. However, rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere do not cause climate change, much less anything dangerous or catastrophic. CO2 is just 0.04% of the atmosphere; water vapor is by far the most important and influential greenhouse gas. The chart he included here makes it abundantly clear that there is no connection between CO2 and global temperatures.

Companies and countries should gradually replace fossil fuels with other sources, primarily nuclear fission and hopefully fusion, he suggests. But not because of climate change. They should do so because eventually we are going to exhaust our economically viablesources of fossil fuels, at the same time that we increase our demand for energy worldwide.

Low Crime among Illegals an Illusion

Dana Mathewson

If this twit keeps talking this way, she's going to make some real enemies!

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ocasio-cortez-blasts-trump-speech-suggests-illegal-immigr ants-more-american-than-him

Tim adds:

Occluded Cortex says:

"In the actual address, there was falsehood after falsehood and we have to make sure that we get our facts straight. Everyday immigrants commit crimes at a far lower rate than native-born Americans,” Ocasio-Cortez told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow"

End quote.

Shemp Smith, the Fox News stooge, said that immediately after Trump's address (he despises Trump) and it is based on A CATO Institute Report that says both legal and illegal immigrants are less likely to be convicted of crimes than native born. CATO is a Libertarian organization, and is decidedly pro-open borders; Libertarians think borders are wrong because they prevent people from doing what they please.

First, how do we know? By definition these are ILLEGAL aliens, outside of any documentation. We don't even know how many there are, so how can we say uncategorically that they commit fewer crimes? Unless the criminals are actually caught (and the majority of crimes go unsolved) there is no way of knowing the immigration status of the criminal.

The author, Alex Nowrasteh, states:

As a percentage of their respective populations, there were 56 percent fewer criminal convictions of illegal immigrants than of native-born Americans in Texas in 2015,"

And

"The criminal conviction rate for legal immigrants was about 85 percent below the native-born rate."

This is exactly what one would expect under the current situation. Legal immigrants are in fact likely to have lower levels of criminal activity precisely because they can be booted out of the country. As a result, judges are more lenient with them because the punishment is greater, and often liberal judges do take pains to avoid their being convicted. Also, there is a decent sized industry in the legal profession devoted to helping immigrants avoid being deported, and oftentimes they manage to make plea deals with prosecutors to avoid criminal convictions. And that is the LEGAL immigrant. The illegal can often just disappear into the bowels of the alien community. How do you know who is the accused? Most of these guys never see the inside of a courtroom unless they are actually caught and held - and immigration advocates work diligently to get them out. It's at a point where crimes are simply ignored rather than prosecuted; there is no point.

It should be pointed out that, According to the Pew Center:

Dem Strategy: Whip Prosperity Now! (WPN)

Jack Kemp

Democrats are campaigning to end prosperity

By Betsy McCaughey
January 8, 2019

The US Department of Labor jobs report, released Friday, shows eye-popping gains, concluding a year that has been great for workers. Hourly wages shot up after 10 years of stagnation and real household income reached its highest level in history.

Bottom line: Anyone who wants a job can get one in President Trump's economy. "we're not right at full employment, we're very close to that" says a top Federal Reserve official.

But progressive Democrats eyeing a White House run in 2020 are literally lying about the economy to sell their pie-in-the-sky government programs.

The likes of Sens. Liz Warren, Cory Booker, Kamala Harris and Bernie Sanders and former President Barack Obama cabinet member Julian Castro are backing various forms of universal "free" health care, "free" college, student loan forgiveness and a guaranteed paycheck from Uncle Sam.

Misleading the public, they're campaigning as if we're in a depression instead of a boom.

How would they pay for their massive giveaways? All these Dems are demanding that corporations and the rich "pay their fair shar" to cover the tab.

An idea whose time may well have come

Dana Mathewson

I don't know if anyone here actually gives a rat's hindquarters about the Academy Awards, or the other shows of that ilk, now that they have degenerated into nothing more than people with minimal talent scolding the audience about their (supposed) political sins. But viewership has been rapidly declining, and the people in charge of the shows don't seem to notice, or to care if they do.

Here's a neat op-ed in the New York Post that suggests a way to cure the problem. It won't be adopted, of course, but it's still a great idea.

The Purpose of College?

Dana Mathewson

We all are aware that "academic standards" have slipped alarmingly since the days when we were "in school." This goes for college as well as "public school."

From College Fix:

A Latina sorority at the University of Virginia is suing the school after it was punished last year for allegedly "hazing" its members.

What exactly did Sigma Lambda Upsilon do that was considered "recklessly and intentionally endangering the health or safet" of its sisters? Requiring members to study for 25 hours per week.

According to The Daily Progress, an SLU recruit had complained to a professor about the sorority's mandate, and the prof then informed the UVA student affairs office and the police.

After an investigation, campus officials determined the studying requirement violated school hazing rules.

Moochie pushed to run in 2020

Dana Mathewson

FROM The U.K. DAILY MAIL:

Michelle Obama is being tipped to follow in her husband footsteps and run as the Democrat candidate in the 2020 US presidential race. Despite her repeated denials that she has any political ambitions, highly placed Washington insiders believe Mrs Obama"'s sky-high approval ratings with voters will prompt senior Democrats to urge her to reconsider.
It follows the huge success of her memoir "Becoming," which has topped the bestseller lists since it was published in November. Polls also regularly rate her more popular than Donald Trump. Her husband Barack"'s rise to become America"s first black President began in 2006 with the publication of his book "The Audacity Of Hope," followed the next year by his decision to run for the White House. Pundits say an attempt by Mrs Obama to become America:s first female President could prove more than a match for Mr Trump.

Hat tip; Urgent Agenda.

Democrats have many anti-semites

Jack Kemp

Congressional Democrats Support Discrimination Against Jews?

Congressional Democrats want to persevere the right of Palestinian supporters to boycott Jewish-made goods from Israel, but they oppose our right to boycott companies who boycott those goods. Convoluted, right?
This logically incongruent concept is ideologically entangled with the recent surge in Democratic antisemitism, which is fueled by the Democratic Party's allegiance (or"intersectionality") with Islam and the Palestinians. To unravel this mess, we need to start at the beginning.
What is this boycott movement and who is behind it? The boycott, divestment and sanctions movement (BDS) is anti-Israeli propaganda movement started by Palestinians and their supporters, which seeks to wage economic warfare on Israel with the intent of financially crippling the people and their government to create an opportunity for Palestinians to overtake the Jewish nation. "The BDS campaign does not support Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts, and rejects a two-state solution to the conflict" explains the ADL. BDS is an economic version of Palestinian terrorism with the same goals as related campaigns: arson terrorism, environmental terrorism, and terror tunnels. The BDS movement is simply part of the Palestinian movement that wants to destroy Jewish Israel and replace it with an Islamic Palestine.

Why do Democrats support the Palestinians and Islamic totalitarianism, while opposing the all-inclusive Jewish country of Israel? The Democratic Party is saturated by socialists and extreme leftists. Socialists and leftists see the world in a black and white version of rich and poor. They see Israel as rich, and hence bad, and the Palestinians as poor, and therefore victims. The Palestinians have taken advantage of the socialist support and dishonestly blamed their poverty on the Israelis. Palestinians also pulled the racism card to entice younger Democrats and claimed that the Israelis are discriminating against them based on race.
Palestinians have said that Israelis "took" their land

Europeans claim 2018 was fourth warmest year - along with all the other fourth warmest years

Timothy Birdnow

Yesterday on CBS news during the Rush limbaugh show they announced hysterically that last year was "fourth warmest on record". Of course it's statstically tied with probably eight other "fourth warmest" years and if it did win it was by a fraction of a degree, something within the margin of error. Not being content with that they darkly warned "this year is looking to be a real scorcher, with record high temperatures" - that with only seven days into the year!

Hew boy!

Here is an article about this. I couldn't find the an article from CBS.

Every year is nearly at a record because, well, the record is so close to every other year that there really isn't much difference. These guys know this, but they have so much invested in Global Warming theory that they can't admit there is no there there. And the media is on board, so they won't tell the public why this doesn't really matter.

'Cardinal' James Comey -- The man who destroyed the FBI

Dana Mathewson

Here's another salvo at Comey, by Joseph diGenova, a writer whom I love. I also like finding him as a guest commentator on Fox News. He doesn't hold back anything.

Wyatt Earp. Elliot Ness. J. Edgar Hoover. Inspector Clouseau. James Comey. The names reflect a continuum of greatness to farce and mediocrity. In the annals of U.S. law enforcement, no individual has reached the depths of disgrace as James "Cardinal” Comey.

The "Cardinal” was a sobriquet FBI agents used to denigrate their leader. As Deputy Attorney General, he was called "drama queen.” Known for his pomposity and self-regard, Comey cut a swath of arrogance unknown in either of those illustrious organizations. He was the cult of personality. He surrounded himself with sycophants, people dedicated to his promotion and their advancement. The Bureau and the public became the losers.

James Comey politicized the FBI, America’s premier law enforcement agency. It started on July 6, 2016, when he usurped the authority of Attorney General Loretta Lynch in violation of the Constitution, the law and DOJ regulations.

He destroyed Hillary’s campaign when he unethically and unprofessionally described her conduct with pejorative words such as "criminal” and then illegally exonerated her of the crimes.

President Obama should have fired him that day. But he did not. Why? Perhaps because he had knowledge of Hillary’s avoidance of any protected email channels because he communicated with her on her private server using a pseudonym.

I won't minimize your fun by quoting any more. The article is here: https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/joe-digenova-cardinal-james-comey-the-man-who-destroyed-the-fbi

Marco Rubio Wants Your Tax Dollars to Pay for Gun Seizures Nationwide

By: Teresa Mull

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R) wants to use federal tax dollars to help states enact Emergency Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs), commonly called red flag gun confiscation laws.

The Sun-Sentinel reports:

Florida state lawmakers passed a red-flag law after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Rubio’s bill, reintroduced on Thursday, would provide federal funding to help other states implement similar laws.

"This idea has already proven successful in states like Florida, and it is my hope that this bill will get all the other states in the country to do the same thing,” Rubio said in a prepared statement.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) told Gunpowder Magazine in an interview regarding red flag laws, "If you take somebody’s God-given rights because you think they might someday commit a crime, now we’re in the realm of dystopian science fiction movies."

As Gunpowder Magazine reported earlier this year, red flag laws are pitched as a way to get guns out of the hands of people who are a danger to themselves or others. Late last year, a Maryland man was killed by police who came to his house to try to take his weapons.

If you ask me, these so-called "red flag" laws are 100% unconstitutional! We fought a very serious war beginning 243 years ago against a country who felt it could impose its authority over us this way, and the first shots of that war happened when soldiers of that country attempted to seize our weapons -- if I remember correctly. I wasn't there at the time but have read numerous accounts of the action.
