Last Man Standing Back Up

Timothy Birdnow

Last Man Standing, the Tim Allen's popular family sitcom, is being revived by Fox.

Last Man Standing was a hit at the Disney-owned ABC, but Allen's male humor coupled with an unwillingness to completely cave to political correctness, made ABC eager to cancel the show, which still maintained a good rating. Disney has essentially become Central Television of the USSR (CT-TV) doing more agiprop than what people want to see.

The reboot of Roseanne no doubt was a large part of why Fox decided to bring the show back. more...

Elevator Humor gets Professor in Dutch

Timothy Birdnow

A college professor jokes with another professor on an elevator about what floor he wanted. "ladies lingerie", the old gag line, got him an ethics violation charge. When he refused to issue a full apology to the Gender Study's professor, he compounded his "sin" by calling her complaint frivilous. From Reason: more...

Record Tax Surplus

Timothy Birdnow

A record budget surplus.

From the article:

"All told the government collected $515 billion and spent $297 billion, for a total monthly surplus of $218 billion. That swamped the previous monthly record of $190 billion, set in 2001.

CBO analysts were surprised by the surplus, which was some $40 billion more than they’d guessed at less than a month ago.

Analysts said they’ll have a better idea of what’s behind the surge as more information rolls in, but for now said it looks like individual taxpayers are paying more because they have higher incomes."

End excerpt.

Who says tax cuts don't work? The same fools who said we have to "pay" for them.

Two Judges in Virginia rebuke Special Counsel Mueller

This from Americans for Limited Government:

Printus LeBlanc

As bad weeks go, last week was a pretty bad week for Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Two different judges dealt blows to the SpecialCounsel while breathing life into the Constitution. From thebeginning itwas obvious the Special Counsel was not interested in Russian collusion but was more interested in getting President Trump. Thanks to a pair of federal judges the American people are finally seeing what the Special Counsel is really upto.

April Ryan says Melania Trump not "culturally an American"

Jack Kemp

In a xenophobic and stupid remark, White House correspondent April Ryan has just told CNN that Melania Trump is not "culturally an American"

April Ryan is, according to Wikipedia, "the Washington, D.C., bureau chief for American Urban Radio Networks.[1] In 2017, she joined CNN as a political analyst.[2] In May 2017, the National Association of Black Journalists named Ryan as the "Journalist of the Year".[3]"

Remember when John Kerry ran for President? His wife was the Mozambique born and South African university educated Teresa Heinz Kerry. Do you remember any pro-Democrat journalist criticizing Teresa, the woman who said that Mrs. Laura Bush "didn't have a real job" because she stayed home and raised five children? Neither do I.

There were, of course, a few First Ladies who grew up in culturally British homes as Subjects of the British Crown. You may recognize their names.

Martha Washington, wife of George Washington.

Abigail Adams, wife of John Adams.

Martha Jefferson was First Lady of Virginia but died before her husband Thomas Jefferson became U.S. President.

Rachel Jackson, born in 1767 and the wife of the first Democrat Party member elected President, Andrew Jackson.

Wikipedia also states that reporter April Ryan was given an honorary doctorate by her undergraduate college, Morgan State, in 2017. One would hope that it was not in American History.

2c from Tim:

I'll bet Ryan would be enraged if we said the same about Obama, who was raised overseas, and yet they have no problem saying it about someone they do not like. Funny; the Left pushes multiculturalism and yet Trump's wife - a true example of that - is condemned for being multicultural. Hew, boy!

The War on Wisdom - D. Prager

Jack Kemp forwards this:

The War on Wisdom

Dennis Prager

There is more knowledge available today than ever before in history. But few would argue people are wiser than ever before.

On the contrary, many of us would argue that we are living in a particularly foolish time -- a period that is largely wisdom-free, especially among those with the most knowledge: the best educated.

The fact that one of our two major political parties is advocating lowering the voting age to 16 is a good example of the absence of wisdom among a large segment of the adult population. What adult deems 16-year-olds capable of making a wise voting decision? The answer is an adult with the wisdom of a 16-year-old -- "Hey, I'm no wiser than most 16-year-olds. Why should I have the vote and they not?"

America has been influenced and is now being largely led by members of the baby-boom generation. This is the generation that came up with the motto "Never trust anyone over 30," making it the first American generation to proclaim contempt for wisdom as a virtue.
The left in America is founded on the rejection of wisdom. It is possible to be on the left and be kind, honest in business, faithful to one's spouse, etc. But it is not possible to be wise if one subscribes to leftist (as opposed to liberal) ideas

Pilot makes forced landing on beach in WWI-era plane

Dana Mathewson

Slovenly reporting! The make and model of the plane isn't given. I'll assume there will be other reports. Meanwhile, if I have time (which isn't guaranteed), I'll get out my WWI fighter plane book and see if I can identify it. Meanwhile, congratulations to the pilot. Apparently there was little or no damage to the plane OR the pilot and his passenger.

Turnabout is Fair Play; Trump Accused of Hiring Private Firm to Investigate Ben Rhodes and other Obama Hacks

Timothy Birdnow

According to the U.K. Guardian, aides to Donald Trump hired Israeli private investigator firm named Black Cube to ferret out information on Obama's creative writer turned national security adviser Ben Rhodes, as well as Colin Kahl, deputy assistant to Obama, in an effort to discredit the Iran deal they brokered. It is unclear whether the investigators looked into John Kerry.

Not so Rosie; O'Donnell Breaks Campaign Finance Law

Timothy Birdnow

Rosie O'Donnell, the larger than life View tongue-lasher and unfunny one-time comedian, has broken numerous campaign finance restrictions in her pursuit of Progressive hegemony. According to the Washington Post her largeness has contributed well beyond the twenty seven hundred dollar maximum to numerous candidates, including $4700 to Doug Jones to defeat Roy Moore in Alabama, $2600 to Connor Lamb, and money to numerous others including Adam Schiff, the guy so intent to impeach Donald Trump.

Her excuse? It's not HER business to worry about donation limits, but rather the candidates should return the money.

That would never fly with an ordinary person, especially with a Republican. Remember Dinesh D'Souza? Federal prosecutors were seeking sixteen months in prison for the conservative author, whose only crime was to go over the donation caps for a close personal friend. D'Souza made a donation of $20,000 to his friend Wendy Long, who was then running for the  Senate. D'Souza did eight months in work release, having to report to jail every night. He was clearly given a harsh sentence (harsher than, say attorney Pierce O'Donnell who gave $26,000 to then Presidential candidate John Edwards and was charged with a mere misdemeanor. It was clear to anyone that D'Souza was singled out because he was virulently anti-Obama.

I wonder what the Queen of Lean, er, mean is going to get? No doubt the worst she'll suffer is a fine. There is a huge double standard between how the Left and the Right are treated in this country.

Perverse, conflicted ethical systems

Paul Driessen

Nazi ethics were hopelessly and perversely conflicted and schizophrenic. People obviously occupied a lower niche than animals on the Nazi "moral and ethical” hierarchy – and millions of innocent people were sent to their graves.

Sadly, the more rabid elements of modern environmentalism have similar "ethics” – and play a major role in perpetuating poverty, disease, misery, malnutrition and early death in poor countries. Ironically, in the name of "keeping fossil fuels in the ground” to "save the planet” from "dangerous manmade climate change,” radical green policies would also destroy the very habitats and wildlife they claim to care so deeply about.

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has cancelled the membership of both Roman Polanski and Bill Cosby

Jack Kemp

By the way, today the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has cancelled the membership of both Roman Polanski and Bill Cosby. That means, I believe, Polanski will not get any more Oscars that Meryl Streep can stand for and applaud.

A quote from the article:

"Cosby and Polanski are the first known members expelled for violating a conduct code the Academy adopted in December following intense public pressure from hundreds of accusations of sexual harassment or assault in the entertainment industry."

2016 was no fluke

Jack Kemp forwards this:

plink=https://nypost.com/2018/05/05/the-coalition-that-got-trump-elected-isnt-going-away/]The 2016 election was far from a fluke

America’s political experts got it wrong in 2016 — not because they took too few polls, but because they made the false assumption that American elections are immune to societal change. They are, in large part, still getting things wrong, not only by failing to understand a new group of voters who put President Donald Trump in the White House but also by ignoring why they voted the way they did. When explaining the Trump voter, the media usually offers portraits of isolated, uneducated, working-class rubes who are driven by anger, race and nationalism
