House Passes CC Reciprocity; Pelosi Goes Bananas

Timothy Birdnow

In some good news the House of Representatives voted Wednesday for a bill that made concealed carry permits valid in all states. Under current laws, a concealed carry holder may be arrested in another state if he or she is in possession of a firearm and they do not have a CC permit in that state.

Tthe House passed the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, 231-198. Six Democrats voted in favor while no less than 14 Republicans voted no. Those GOP no votes need to be targeted in upcoming elections during the primaries.

In typical fashion Nancy Pelosi, the San Francisco Bleat, tweeted out the coming doomsday: more...

Frankenfall

Timothy Birdnow

Al Franken has resigned after accusations (featuring photographic evidence) he groped and otherwise bothered numerous women.

Pressure was mounting on Franken to resign as Democrats fled from him.

Frankengroper complained bitterly that he is out and, well:

"I aware of the irony that I am leaving while a man who has bragged on tape about his history of sexual assault sits in the Oval Office and a man who has preyed on underage girls is running for the Senate with the full support of his party,” Franken said, referring to President Donald Trump, who has also been accused of sexual misconduct, and Roy Moore, the Republican candidate for Senate in Alabama.

End excerpt.

Classlyess - and dishonest - to the end.

Donald Trump did not brag of assaulting women, but only said women would LET you assault them oo- willingly - if you were famous enough. He never said he actually did it.

And Roy Moore was only accused when it became obvious he was going to win the Senate seat, with an accusation going back forty years and with zero evidence other than the word of the victim. Oh, and there are some other "accusers" who dated Mrl. Moore when he was single and they were of age - and all admit he was a perfect gentleman. Oh, and there was the accusation made by Gloria Allred's puppet that fell apart when her claims were examined.

But we actually have pictures of Frankenweiner grabbing the breast of sleeping women and the like.

If Franken had any class at all he would accept responsibility and leave with some decorum. Sadly the guy has all the class of a Jerry Springer guest.

Clinton E-Mail Collusion Admitted by Obama Soliciter General

This from Judicial Watch:

Obama IG guy flags ‘strategic coordination’ of State, Clinton on emails
Source: The Washington Times <https://www.myjw.org/wta/link.php?AGENCY=jw&M=2719693&N=8666&L=4775&F=H>

Here’s something you don’t hear every day — but an inspector general who was actually appointed by Barack Obama told Tucker Carlson of Fox News that there was "strategic coordination” taking place among the State Department, Campaign Team Hillary Clinton, certain key legal minds and politicos on Capitol Hill, regarding the behind-scenes talk of The Emails. Yes, those emails — the ones that were marked classified and top secret and that were found on Clinton’s private and unsecured email system.

Al Franken may be gone soon

Jack Kemp

Mark Simone on his WOR Radio in NY (just before Rush Limbaugh) said that Franken will be gone soon, probably this month. He may well be right. I just hope that Gov. Dayton doesn't appoint Garrison Keillor to replace him.

http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2017/12/the-expendable-mr-franken.php

Democratic support for the tenure of Minnesota Senator Al Franken in office died on the vine today. First Senator Kirsten Gillibrand stepped forward to call for Franken’s resignation. Her call was followed by other Democratic women senators with the exception of his colleague Amy Klobuchar, whose help was unnecessary to the task at hand. However, she had been among the first Senators to call for Franken’s case to be remitted to the Senate Ethics Committee. It wouldn’t be Minnesota nice for her to pile on now. Some two dozen Democratic Senators have called for Franken’s resignation. Franken’s response is to

Natural Law and the Unfree American Economy

Timothy Birdnow

What is Capitalism?  The Left pushes this term (I prefer Free Enterprise) because it then makes the idea of a free market an "ism", a theory among many, one which they claim has somehow "failed". But it isn't just one among many, but is rather the way people behave when given their choice i.e. it is a form of Natural Law. People labor for their own welfare, or the welfare of kin and clan. They do not labor for the benefit of others unless they themselves choose to do so (charity). In the end, the individual reserves the right to decide.

Leftists Take Tax Dollars to Fund Protests

Timothy Birdnow

A federally funded liberal charity has been caught recruiting people to protest/break the law to stop tax reform.

From Judicial Watch:

"Last week, Housing Works organized a big demonstration in Washington D.C. to protest the Republican tax overhaul and the group plans to return to the Capitol this week to try to keep the measure from passing. A D.C.-based news publication obtained an internal email that reveals Housing Works encouraged supporters to commit illegal behavior. "We will transport, house and feed you, and deal with all legal support,” reads the email to supporters. "Caveat: if you are far away from DC and expensive to transport, we can probably only fly you if you can risk arrest.” Next to the message is a link to sign up. The group described the protests like this: "The Rs voted and fled the room, but were snagged by reporters in the hallway, surrounded by bird-doggers, and shamed for their disgraceful votes.”"

End exdcerpt.

That is vintage liberal; tax money from the public by force of law then give it to their activists who use it to promote their own agenda. They are worse than robbers; a robber has no illustions about what he is doing. Liberals steal from you and make you pay for their theft.

Bastards!

The book needs to be thrown at operations like this. Sadly, they have friends in the permanent bureacracy and will undoubtedly simply change their name and keep doing this vile stuff.

Return the Land to the People

Timothy Birdnow

Donald Trump has returned a sizeable chunk of the lands of America to the People, where they belonbg. In particular, he restored the Escalante Grand Staircase to Utah. Obama signed the order making EGS a national park to tie up the low sulphur coal there, to stop anyone from mining it.

That is why these parks were never given the resources needed to make them viable parks; they were never intended to be. The intent was to take them out of circulation as an environmentalist and anti-growth move.

Utah's state government is heartily behind the move. more...

Stripped Naked; Sexual Misconduct and Original Sin

Timothy Birdnow

In a thoughtful and philosophical essay at American Thinker Dean Abbott argues that the sexual misconduct scandal is a result of the loss of virtue that has ended with the concept of Careers becoming paramount. He's right, but I think there is more to the story.

First the argument made by Abbott:

"The worst, and therefore most likely, outcome of the current rash of sexual misconduct accusations is that people will continue to think they are primarily about bodies, about who touched whose body, about who exposed his body when he shouldn't have. That most of us currently already assume that such incidents are mostly about bodies itself indicates our lack of vision."

Damming the American Mind

Timothy Birdnow

Over at Tom Trinko's website he made the observationthat the media simply forgets that which is inconventient to it. I left the following comment (or tried to; not sure it saved properly.):

Right on Tom! If you control a people's memory you control their past - and by extension you control their present and future. The media loves that.

We live in a truly artificial reality these days. But, like a river that flows along a certain path because of dams and levees, the winds blow and the river jumps back into it's original channel. That is what happened last November, to a degree. Now the Left has been desperately sandbagging to restore the artificial canal.

We have to hope that at some point the river will become just too wild to tame.

Masterpiece CakeShop arguments at the Supreme Court

Jack Kemp

There is a fine blog piece at American Thinker today by Erin Mersino who attended the first day of U.S. Supreme Court hearings in the Masterpiece Cakeshop in Colorado case where a Christian baker refused to design a cake for a gay wedding but welcomed the gay couple to come purchase other items off the shelf in his store.
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2017/12/clarence_thomas_facepalm_day_one_of_oral_arguments_for_emmasterpiece_cakeshopem.html

A line in the piece, concerning Justice Kennedy's questioning if gay's legal rights and social protection would be enforced, brought me to discuss some other situtions both in the U.S. and abroad.

Here is my commet:
JackKemp•

... and questioned whether ruling in Phillips's favor would allow shop owners to post signs in their windows such as "no gays allowed" or "no cakes for gay weddings." >>

One of the first thoughts about historical prejudice that came to me was a story I read about 1930s Poland where one store (and this wasn't true of most stores) had a sign that said "This is a Christian store" which was understood by all to mean that no Jews were allowed to come in and purchase ANY item off the shelves, be it for everyday use or custom made for a religous wedding. THAT was real government sanctioned predjudice and not what you are seeing here in Colorado.

Over a decade ago in Germany there was a test case where a woman on unemployment was required to take a job in a legal business or lose her unemployment benefits. The legal, tax paying business was a house of prostitution. This caused an uproar and I believe the government backed down in their demand. But in a perfectly logical system devoid of Biblical or other morality, this would be "a legitimate demand." Notice the demand was not (yet) made of males requiring to work in a German house of prositution.

Getting back to America, Chick-fil-A sells meals to gays and straights alike (and even has gay employees, I have read) but does not make custom items for a gay weddings or any other type of party. Checking their website, I see they cater items for any occasion without creating special wedding design signs or food items. I wonder if a ruling against Masterpiece Cakeshop would result in some convoluted test case against them as well.

Steve Bannon rips Romney a new one

Jack Kemp

At a rally for Roy Moore in Alabama, here's what Steve Bannon said in reply to Romney's pompous words...

http://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/12/05/watch-steve-bannon-rips-into-mitt-romney-during-roy-moore-rally-in-alabama

Here’s what he said:

Bannon compared Romney’s history to that of Moore, "someone who went to Vietnam in honor and integrity.”

"You avoided service, brother,” he yelled to the crowd. "OK Mitt, Mitt, here’s how it is, brother.”

"You hid behind your religion,” Bannon said to applause from the audience. "You went to France to be a missionary while guys were dying in rice paddies in Vietnam!”

"Do not talk to me about honor and integrity!” he added.

"And now I’m gonna get personal,” he continued. "You ran for commander in chief, you had five sons, not one day of service!”

Why was Bannon attacking Romney?
Bannon was apparently responding to a tweet that Romney had posted the day prior to the rally.

"Roy Moore in the US Senate would be a stain on the GOP and on the nation,” Romney tweeted. "No vote, no majority is worth losing our honor, our integrity.”

Law to Punish Purveyors of Lawless Sanctuary Cities

Timothy Birdnow

A House Bill to jail officials who protect illegal aliens.

"Indiana Rep. Todd Rokita’s bill is one of the most aggressive pieces of legislation to date aimed at sanctuary city policies, going beyond the Justice Department’s threat to cut off grants to those jurisdictions.

"Politicians don’t get to pick and choose what laws to comply with,” Rokita told Fox News. "Americans are dying because politicians sworn to uphold the law refuse to do so.”

His "Stopping Lawless Actions of Politicians (SLAP) Act” would hold state and local lawmakers criminally responsible for refusing to comply with federal immigration enforcement efforts. The Republican’s bill would subject violators to a $1 million fine and up to five years in prison if they are convicted."

End excerpt.

This is in response to the murder and subsequent acquittal of the illegal alien killer of Katie Steinle.

Rokita is right; politicians don't get to pick and choose what laws to obey. The fact is, the only reason we have a government is to uphold the rule of law and to protect the individual. It is not supposed to be there for social justice, or to give us free stuff. It's very reason for existing is to create laws to keep us safe from predators, foreign and domestic. If certain politicians simply disobey the rule of law for their own political profit then we may as well not have a government at all. A lawless government is just about worse than anarchy. Look at Venezuela, or North Korea. The worst nations in history - the Soviet union or Nazi Germany - became so because there were people willing to dismiss the rule of law in favor of the desires of men.

How about Mugabe in Zimbabwe? His overthrow of the rule of law turned that country from the most prosperous in Africa into one of the poorest, most violent hell holes on Earth.

Sanctuary cities will ultimately do the same for America. Those who promote them can and should be punished, nay, must be.

Congress Drafting Contempt Charges

Timothy Birdnow

Congressional Republicans have started to draft a Contempt of Congress charge against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray for willfully refusing to disclose information to them.

According to Bloomberg:

"Until now, Nunes said, the FBI and Department of Justice have failed to sufficiently comply with an Aug. 24 committee subpoena -- including by refusing repeated demands "for an explanation of Peter Strzok’s dismissal from the Mueller probe.”

"In light of today’s press reports, we now know why Strzok was dismissed, why the FBI and DOJ refused to provide us this explanation, and at least one reason why they previously refused to make Deputy Director McCabe available to the Committee for an interview,” Nunes said."

End excerpt.

So finally the GOP is finding it's backbone. The fact is, this Mueller investigation has been a political witch hunt from the get-go and is based on the work of the Hillary campaign and Trump's political enemies.

Might I make a suggestion? Do nothing AG Jeff Sessions should appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the Mueller investigation. He is perfectly within his rights to do so, and should. It's time we turn these dirty tricks back on these enemies of the American system.
