Race, Crime, and Fakenomics

On Facebook Willis Eschenbach observes:

According to the National Fatherhood Institute, In 2016,

• 74.3% of white children lived with both parents.
• 88.7% of Asian children lived with both parents.
• 38.7% of black children lived with both parents.

According to Critical Race Theory:

• this is all whitey's fault, and
• intact families don't matter because RACISTS!

Tony Burns says:

Have you read Freakonomics? There's a chapter that talks about a drop in crime rate that is linked to legalized abortion. The latter leads to fewer single parent families.

I reply:

If that is the case why did crime accelerate during the eighties? We did have a drop after we cracked down on crime, but abortion didn't seem to enter into it. There are a lot of criticisms of the studies used by the authors. https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB113314261192407815 and and https://www.economist.com/finance-and-economics/2005/12/01/oops-onomics and https://www.foxnews.com/story/the-myth-about-abortion-and-crime Bear in mind out-of-wedlock births increased dramatically AFTER the legalization of abortion. People felt more confident taking sexual risks. And it is especially true among the poorest. The statistics Willis provided show this very thing.

Two economists at the Boston Federal Reserve ran the same tests and found abortion actually increased crime. http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=866864

If you look at violent crime rates, they started decreasing among those who were born prior to Roe v. Wade, btw; NOT among the young, which is what you would expect if abortion was what reduced crime.

Perhaps Fakenomics would be a more apt title for it.

Russia for Russians

Timothy Birdnow

This is floating around the internet and while I strongly suspect it is bogus I like the sentiment anyway.

It is supposedly a speech given by Russian' President Vladimir Putin on the floor of the Duma. I can't find it anywhere online, so it is most likely a fraud, but I WISH he would have said it - and I wish WE would listen:

"In Russia, live like Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, it should speak Russian, and should respect all Russian laws. If they prefer Sharia Law, and wish to live the life of Muslims, then we now clearly advise them to go and live in those places where that's the state law.

Russia does not need Muslim minorities. Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell 'discrimination '!

We will not tolerate disrespect of our Russian culture.

We had better learn from the suicides of so-called democracies --
America, England, France, Germany, and Holland --

if we are to survive as a nation

The Muslims are taking over those countries, BUT they will NOT take over Russia!

Our Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of culture or the primitive ways of Sharia Law and Muslims.

When this honorable legislative body thinks of creating new laws, it should have in mind the Russian national interest First , observing that the Muslim minorities ARE NOT Russian."

Netanyahu Out

Timothy Birdnow

Israel has followed America lemminglike in a mass rush to leap off a cliff.

Netenyahu is out.

This despite the strong leadership Netanyahu displayed during the attacks by Hamas, and the fact his Likud party won the majority of seats.

It looks like they Trumped Mr. Netanyahu.

The Israelis do not realize the scope of this disaster; his replacement Naftali Bennett will undoubtedly follow a strategy of appeasement that could lead to a major war and certainly to many dead Israelis - and Palestinians.

Netanyahu failed to form a coalition to hold power despite having more votes. He now becomes the opposition leader and could return to power when Bennett screws up.

Abiotic Hydrocarbons

Richard Cronin

The Russians knew about abiotic hydrocarbons (gas and oil not from squished trees) in the 1950s and 1960s but were held as Soviet State secrets. Many papers have yet to be translated.

Thickness of Crust (rigid minerals)
Continents = 30 to 50 km
Oceans = 5 to 10 km
Note: Himalayas are still thrusting upward.

Deepest dinosaur bones = 2.25 km depth

Deepest microscopic plankton fossils (aka one source of carbonate minerals —> limestone) = 6 km depth

Lithosphere (elastic state , not viscous) = 0 to 100 km

Aesthenosphere / Upper Mantle ( highly viscous) = 100 to 700 km

Depths of Seismic Activity (Richter)
<4 = 25 to 60 km
5 to 7 = 60 to 300 km

Depths of carbonate melts (molten carbonate minerals) = 350 km

7 - 9 Richter = 300 to 700 km ( everything oozes around)
Further below are perovskites & bridgemanites. There they are semi-rigid.

Deepest commercial coal mine = 0.3 km above sea level (Czech Republic)

Depth of deepest oil well = 15 km below the "rotary deck” (working deck of an offshore drill platform), off Sakhalin Island, Russian Republic, drilled by Exxon.

Question: How is it that oil & gas are found deeper than coal deposits ? Abiotic hydrocarbons. Gas and oil do not come from squished biomass. Serpentinizatio n, Fischer-Tropsch and Sabatier reactions. Same as all planets.

Coal is formed much as charcoal. Contained hydrocarbons percolating from below and cooking away under reducing conditions to release volatiles as is performed in a charcoal kiln. Thus, oil and gas are collected beneath impermeable salt domes such as the West Permian Basin of West Texas and Oklahoma. How much methane ?? Incalculable.

The vast quantity is vented into the ocean waters.

And our guvamint has a hernia about containing methane ?

Warning to Governments Over Pandemic Panic

David Redfern

This is astonishing, but not unexpected news.

Every government across the world has been put on notice, as of Sunday 13th of June 2021, that anyone involved in perpetrating activities contrary to Human Rights legislation relative to the Coronavirus/ Covid-19 Pandemic is liable to criminal prosecution.

This includes, but is not exclusive to, the use of the PCR test to panic populations around the world into accepting social distancing, masks wearing and lockdowns with no democratic mandate.

It includes the coercion by whatever means, including threatening vaccine passports, employment restrictions etc. to the public, to accept vaccinations as required or normal. This includes government announcements, advertising campaigns, social media announcements, news features etc.

The World Freedom Alliance is the organization promoting this and is supported by Doctors and Scientists worldwide.

See "NOTICE OF LIABILITY REGARDING CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY"

No one can do anything about authoritarian governments but us.

Babbitt's Widower Suing

Richard Cronin

Ashli Babbitt's husband Is suing DC Police. Under FOIA, Mr. Babbitt will be able to ransack all police reports and communications, plus depose witnesses. I smell the fetid odor of Treason as the covers are lifted.

The DC Chief of Police reports to the mayor of DC. The Chief at the time of Jan. 6, Steven Sund, resigned ( and I think in disgust). The mayor and Sund have to coordinate their work with the House & Senate Sergeants-at-Arms. Both Pelosi’s man and McConnell’s man scotched the request for National Guard troops because the "optics would look bad.”

The Proof of Time

"C.S. Lewis in his second letter to me at Oxford, asked how it was that I, as a product of a materialistic universe, was not at home there. 'Do fish complain of the sea for being wet? Or if they did, would that fact itself not strongly suggest that they had not always been, or would not always be, purely aquatic creatures? Then, if we complain of time and take such joy in the seemingly timeless moment, what does that suggest? It suggests that we have not always been or will not always be purely temporal creatures. It suggests that we were created for eternity. Not only are we harried by time, we seem unable, despite a thousand generations, even to get used to it. We are always amazed by it--how fast it goes, how slowly it goes, how much of it is gone. Where, we cry, has the time gone? We aren't adapted to it, not at home in it. If that is so, it may appear as a proof, or at least a powerful suggestion, that eternity exists and is our home.”

America Disproves Communism

Warner Todd Huston

Anyone who supports Marxism should have no credibility whatever. This political scheme has been around for more than 130 years and has not worked even a little any where it's ever been tried. But consider the U.S.A. as the definitive dispositive proof...

Marxists say that capitalism only "works" because the rich steal everything from the poor and then oppress the poor to keep them from doing anything about it.

But facts don't lie.

Today, the U.S. has more billionaires than Africa and the Middle East combined. By the Marxist reckoning, that would HAVE to mean that the U.S. would have the poorest poor in the entire world. Yet, the standard of living for our poorest people in the U.S. is somewhere around the lower middle class for much of the rest of the world. So, by the numbers, America's poor are by far better off than the poor in the rest of the world. Plus our middle class is bigger than near every other region in the world.

The U.S., for all its faults, proves that the Marxist claims are all lies.

It's just that simple.

Tim adds:

And if one looks at how quickly the average man can rise in American society, and how well our poorest live, one must conclude that the capitalist model works and the Marxist does not. America is just lousy with millionaires, and those who aren't are usually pretty well off. We have a large, vibrant middle class. None of this makes any sense when viewed through the Marxist prism of class warfare and economic exploitation.

On Classifying Race

This from Tom Waeghe

Hat tip to Onar Am.

"There's no scientific definition of race that can be used to classify to every individual so the statistics are worthless anyway."
Actually, the scientific definition of race (subspecies) is:

"One of two or more populations of a species living in different subdivisions of the species' range and varying from one another by morphological characteristics .

For obvious reasons biologists are scared out of their wits of using the term race, so they go with "population" instead. A race is a:
"well-mixed, mildly inbred population of a species."

Usually this mild inbreeding results in distinct morphological differences that makes it easy to classify the populations, and usually the different races are (or have been) separated geographically for a sufficiently long time to create distinct differences.

"And forget about "self-identification" of race."

Actually, self-identification turns out to be the most objective definition of race that extends beyond conscious species, and also escapes the element of arbitrariness of a taxonomist. The perhaps best definition of a race that can be constructed is:

"A population who sexually prefers members of their own population over other populations."

That is, if a plant with a red flower happens to like mating with other members of its species who also have a red flower (as opposed to, say, a blue flower), then very quickly this leads to self-segregationand the establishment of a genetically distinct population which has a mechanism in place to maintain (and widen) those distinctions.

Notice how this is establishment of taxonomy by self-identification/ selection. No man in a lab-coat is required to create a taxonomy.

So how does this work for humans? Well, it turns out that the match between self-identified race and automatic computer categorization of DNA (e.g. k-means) is near 100%. If you have the genes of people of many different populations and you instruct the computer to divide the gene data into TWO categories only, and then ask people to self-identify which of these two categories they themselves belong to, they match up something like 99.9%.

If you repeat the experiment with THREE categories, the match between genes and self-identification is still around 99.9%. Same if you do it for four, five or six categories. In fact, the self-identification of race matches genetics almost as well as self-identified gender and sex.

This self-identification translates into real-world self-segregation and sexual selection based on self-identified race. Below is a website dedicated to making an ethnic/racial map of the United States. Zoom into the most progressive/ woke city in the nation and you will see the same pattern that is observed everywhere in the world: people self-segregate based on race/ethnicity.

This self-segregationis in fact strong evidence of the existence (and the above definition) of race. To prefer one's own race is the hallmark of the existence of race. If blacks prefer to live and mate with blacks over other populations, then that is evidence that blacks form an objectively identifiable race.

What is Whiteness

Mike Kierath observes:

I just heard too much Whiteness doesn’t mean that you have too much Americanness .
White People think they own America .
This is from a NY Congressman.

Tim adds:

Who settled the country? Who fought the Revolution? Who wrote the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution? Who fought the War of 1812, or the Civil War? Yes, there were people of color throughout that, but the vast majority of what we consider "Americanness" came from dead white guys.

Again, there were great contributions from "people of color" throughout our history but the fact is what the Left now calls "whiteness" was the core of America and only came to be a pejorative in the last couple of years as it is a way of backdoor destroying this country. This is clearly an attempt to throw out the baby with the bathwater.

America has done so very much for so very many. The whole world wants to come here and live among us. That isn't true in any African nation, certainly. "Whiteness" is ill-defined, but we must assume it means the culture, traditions, history, and way of thinking and living that was the foundational principle of America. The two are intertwined. And it appears "blackness" is a counter-cultural thing; black people who seek to succeed by following the rules of Americanism are "Uncle Toms" and "acting white". So it is not really about race at all but a worldview and culture that is used to be dominant and made America the envy of the world.

Now we are going to impose a new culture, a new heritage, one more in line with the hellholes in other parts of the world. Yeah; that'll work out just fine!

Half of all Covid Unemployment Stolen

Timothy Birdnow

Half of all the money earmarked for the unemployed earmarked for Covid relief was stolen - and most of it by foreign actors.

That was $400 BILLION DOLLARS of taxpayer money stolen.

Unemployment fraud surged during the coronavirus pandemic, with billions of dollars likely ending up in the hands of foreign crime syndicates based in China, Russia and other countries, experts say.

As much as $400 billion in unemployment benefits may have been fraudulent, according to one estimate by ID.me, FOX Business confirmed. That amounts to about 50% of unemployment money, according to the company, which uses facial recognition software to verify identities.

The news was first reported by Axios.

"Fraud is being perpetrated by domestic and foreign actors," Blake Hall, CEO and founder of ID.ME, told FOX Business. "We are successfully disrupting attempted fraud from international organized crime rings, including Russia, China, Nigeria and Ghana, as well as U.S. street gangs."

Haywood Talcove, the CEO of LexisNexis Risk Solution, suggested the bulk of the money – about $250 billion – went to international criminal groups, most of which are backed by the state. The money is essentially being used as their slush fund for "nefarious purposes," such as terrorism, illegal drugs and child trafficking, Talcove said.

The criminals have been able to access the money by stealing personal information and using it to impersonate claimants or buying it on the dark web. The groups also use an army of internet thieves to submit fraudulent claims. States, which administer the aid, may be prepared to combat fraud from individuals who are trying double-dip or cash in on benefits they don't need, but not international criminals using the dark web to exploit the system.

And yet Joe Biden wants to double down on this.

My brother had his stolen, I might add. He never received it and when he called about it they said he had cashed it.

I wonder how much of that stolen loot will wind up in the coffers of the Democratic Party?

Volcanoes and Carbon Dioxide

Timothy Birdnow

An argument is brewing at Watts Up with That's Facebook page.

Reader Antoinne posted:

Volcanoes emit far less than us https://climate.gov/news-features/climate-qa/which-emits-more-carbon-dioxide-volcanoes-or-human-activities

I reply:

One need but look at the web address provided DOT GOV. What do you think the government is going to say? They have a vested interest in the success of global warming hysteria, as it will provide them with a vast increase in power and money.

But that is not all; the fact is this information is old news and based almost entirely on Gerlach's work on volcanoes. Gerlach used just the big, obvious active volcanoes he could find at the time. Completely ignored was the multiple small ones, and the many undersea volcanoes. See here for more.

Also, we really do not know how much carbon dioxide we are putting into the atmosphere. We are simply taking the atmospheric rise, subtracting what we THINK is being put out by nature, then claiming the remains are anthropogenic. But the fact is carbon dioxide levels continued to rise during the pandemic shutdown when we saw a 25% drop in industrial activity which should have translated to a 25% slowdown in the growth of CO2. There was no bump in the curve at all. CO2 levels kept rising at the same rate. So what do we know? Nowhere nearly as much as we THINK we know.

Richard Cronin adds:

Of far greater significance than continental or subaerial volcanoes are submarine volcanoes, hydrothermal vents, seeps, rifts, and oceanic ridge systems. Using sonar and other sensing techniques across vast areas of the oceans, Hillier and Watt estimate that there are between 1 to 3 million submarine volcanoes. Oregon State posts the smaller number on their website. This is only volcanoes. There are also hydrothermal vents, seeps, rifts, oceanic ridges as well as smoldering forest fires which have gone completely undetected until identified by satellites.

http://www.principia-scientific.org/volcanic-carbon-dioxide.html/

In truth, any debate about CO2 is irrelevant.

We are the WATER PLANET, not the CO2 planet. Water, moving thru the water cycle, is a nearly infinite and adjustable cooling system.

Yet in their rush to quantify the hypothesized effects of CO2, Svente Arrhenius (1896) and Gilbert Plass (1956) eliminated the convection of water vapor and held cloud cover constant !!

The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, fellow climate schemers, carbon taxers and "renewable energy” scammers all admit that water is the greatest heat trapping molecule but then ignore it for any calculations or bogus "modeling” because it is unimaginably complex in its many forms and humidity is in constant change. Water is present as vapor, liquid, liquid admixtures (i.e. salt water), snow ( with entrained air), ice with gas pockets, sleet, hail, dew, fog, frost, sublimed. The liquid state of the oceans is particularly important because the ocean waters — with suspended solids — absorbs ALL electromagnetic radiation within a few feet of the surface.

In the conditions of our atmosphere, water is not an emissive gas, as is CO2. Water vapor is Condensible. Water vapor releases its heat via phase change to rain and snow. The "modelers” only consider emissive (non-condensible) gases.

CO2 comprises 0.04 of one (1) percent in our atmosphere. It is a highly emissive molecule. It does not "trap heat”. Upon heating then cooling back down, it re-radiates infrared radiation in approx. 0.0001 of one (1) second and in all directions. It scatters any radiation. It does not point it back down at the ground like some kind of mirror. Any warming properties attributed to CO2 are less than trivial. There are no commercial applications for CO2 as an insulator ( heat trapping). There are myriad applications for water as a "heat trapping” and heat conducting fluid.

Climate change Alarmists claim water vapor as a greenhouse gas but even that is a misnomer. Water vapor absorbs long wave infrared (LWIR) but as it warms it convects upward, forms clouds, reaches saturation and produces rain and snow, thereby conveying the heat off the planet via Infrared emission from cloud tops.

The criminal pseudo-scientists deliberately conflate the terms "heat trapping” with "greenhouse gas”. The first term is real, for the case of water. The second term is meaningless.

The Earth’s biome is not an enclosed system such as a greenhouse. It is a multivariate, open, chaotic and dynamic control system. It is impossible to model local temperatures more than 3 days in advance, much less decades into the future.

John Tyndall’s demonstrations during the 1850s of CO2 as a "heat trapping” fluid were conducted in an sealed tube which in no way reflects the Earth’s biome. Tyndall’s sealed tube apparatus was replicated in 1900 by Knute Angstrom and totally debunked.

Water is the dominant actor in regulating the planet within a nicely habitable range via phase change - condensation & freezing.

Rather than an enclosed greenhouse, the better description for water vapor in our atmosphere is as a patchy blanket that spreads warmth along the surface ( moderating temperatures), but cold, dry air above a patchy layer of clouds. Eventually water carries heat away from the Earth . Water vapor only holds the heat for a short period, approx. 10 days.

Where are the Kids?

Bob Clasen asks:

Why are reproduction rates falling across most of the globe, especially in advanced technological societies?

Tim answers:

I can see lots of reasons; changes in diet, chemicals, deliberate efforts. But there are a couple of others.

One is selfishness; Western civilization has become mired in a narcissism and at the same time self-loathing that discourages people from having children.

Young people put off reproducing so they may enjoy life (just as they now put off moving out on their own.) And with the pc culture dominating our intellectual landscape many - especially young white kids - don't want to perpetuate what they see as evil. Tell a group of kids they should be ashamed of themselves for being who they are and you will either have them rebel or obediently stop reproducing and die off.

And given the fact that having children is about hope in the future, and the Left and the Media have told young people there is no hope, especially if we keep growing - and you have a perfect storm. It's the same reason why we see a declining life expectancy among blue collar white males; they have been told they are dirtbags and should go away and die and they see no future for themselves or their families. Despair sets in.

When our country was younger and more vigorous the Judeo-Christian heritage gave people confidence, and they were fruitful and multiplied. Not now. Now pleasure is the highest thing one can attain, and morality is determined by the Left, who believe a moral nation is one in which there are fewer people and less opportunity. The spiritual vaccuum has become a nihilistic bottomless pit and so many are falling into it in Nietzchean fashion.

People without hope aren't going to look to the future, which is what having children is all about.

Bob adds:

Raising a family is a long term project which requires hard work and devotion to do right. It is far easier for a devoted couple than for a single mother, but the percentage of devoted married couples is also falling.

I reply:

Agreed. And the acceptance of "alternative lifestyles" adds to this.

One William Hempstone chimes in:

Because the Cultural Marxists in the education system have prioritized climate change activism, homosexuality, feminism, and abortion as the new value system while they continue to demonize traditional values.

I reply:

Great points William! Another thing going on these days is a drop in testosterone levels among males in the West. I believe the two things are inextricably linked. Men have less testosterone because they need less since they aren't even trying to procreate. The Left has turned our young men into eunuchs via social pressure and education and the like (and turned our young women into menlike things with higher levels of aggression.) This is an example of form following function. We've changed the sexual roles and in so doing have reduced fertility all around. A feminist who does not like men much and who wants to usurp the male role is likely not to be that interested in having a lot of kids, and the beta male who submits to this feminzed society will do likewise. This ties in with the rise in "transgenderism" and no doubt homosexuality as well; a natural biologica response to societal pressures to fundamentally alter the male and female rolls.

And our very own Bill H. adds:

You missed laziness and unwillingness to accept responsibility. Having children is hard work, and we no longer do hard work. We now welcome illegal immigrants to do the jobs that "Americans don't want to do." And the thought of being responsible is why we want police defunded - police hold you responsible for your actions.

On Hating "Whiteness"

Selwyn Duke observes:

Thought of the Day:

"Whiteness studies" are now everywhere. And, well, if you hate Western civilization and want to destroy it, it makes sense that you'll view "whiteness" as a problem, doesn't it?

Leftism must die.

I add:

Great point Selwyn. What is "whiteness" other than being part of the culture that produced the richest, most free, most fulfilling civilization in history. Hating on "whitemess" is hating Western Civilization, and that means hating the very thing they are using to justify their hatred. If you hate "whitemenss" you have to hate air conditioning, automobiles, schools, hospitals, clean water, abundance of food, etc. as well as democratic systems, the Rule of Law, the rights of free Men. And this hatred is justified by ideas like "equity" or "fairness" and an appeal to liberty. Strange.

That is, unless you’re the president’s son and a connected liberal — such as Hunter Biden.

In fact, they died in a car crash.

THAT is how insane the CDC guidelines are ... it doesn't matter what the person dies of. If they die of a gunshot and they test positive for COVID, they are recorded as a COVID death.

So I'm sorry, but the SciAm article is bull. But that's no surprise, they went political a long time ago.

So we should ignore people killed by gunshot that are claimed as COVID deaths?

You're not considering that everyone in a hospital is tested, and if they have one positive COVID test from tests that are known to have lots of false positives, NO MATTER WHAT THEY DIE OF, be it heart attack, stroke or whatever, the CDC says to count them as COVID deaths ... the gunshot deaths are only the tip of the iceberg.

Heck, the CDC said to count them as COVID deaths if the doctor even SUSPECTS that COVID is involved ...

Here's the CDC Guidance:

===
"In cases where a definite diagnosis of COVID–19 cannot be made, but it is suspected or likely (e.g., the circumstances are compelling within a reasonable degree of certainty), it is acceptable to report COVID–19 on a death certificate as "probable” or "presumed.”
===

And of course, these are also put on the list of "COVID deaths".
