Trump the Pragmatist

Dana Mathewson

A friend of mine sent this a couple days ago via e-mail, where it is apparently flying around, identified as an article by Charles Krauthammer, and with no link. I looked it up, and the author is not Dr. K., as stated, but rather Mychal S. Massie. The link is https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/12473063/a-different-take-on-donald-trump-a-non-political-agenda

From the article:

Trump Is Not A Liberal or Conservative, He's a "Pragmatist."
(Definition: A pragmatist is someone who is practical and focused on reaching a goal. A pragmatist usually has a straightforward, matter-of-fact approach and doesn't let emotion distract him or her.)

Common Sense on the Omnibus

Dana Mathewson

Kurt Schlichter (who else) infuses some needed common sense.

We weren’t "betrayed.” It’s not "over.” And "Trump has totally lost my support” is exactly what your enemies want you to say.

Don’t say what your enemies want you to say.

March of Dims

Dana Mathewson

Stupid things they were, too, and predictably all orchestrated by the Leftmedia. Sad to say, my pastor was thrilled to see kids "getting involved." I shall have to figuratively slap her hand if I can get her alone.Power Line does a good job with two articles:

Here, with comments (the actual article quoted is linked near the end):

and here, with reactions:

One of the comments to the latter is "As one of the memes that showed up on my newsfeed said, "I love hearing lectures about the 2nd Amendment from kids who can't name the three branches of government."

Arm gestures that don't look so good

This David Hogg is the media darling right now, but he may have just cut his own throat. From Daily Wire, linked on Lucianne.com:

Great comments on Daily Wire, and #3 on Lucianne REALLY nails it with "Sadly destroying his own future. The whole Nation knows who this kid is.
As an employer, I would NEVER hire him.

Hillary's Lie about Blue State Prosperity

Wil Wirtanen

Why the Hilldabeast was lying

From the article:

Here's the evidence. Of the 12 blue states that Hillary Clinton won by the largest percentage margins — Hawaii, California, Vermont, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, Illinois, Washington, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Connecticut and Delaware — all but three of them lost residents through domestic migration (excluding immigration) over the last 10 years. In fact, combined, all twelve Hillary states lost an average of 6% of their populations to net out-migration over the past decade. California and New York alone lost 3,000,000 people in the past 10 years.

Now let's contrast the Hillary states with the 12 states that had the largest percentage-margin vote for Donald Trump. Every one of them, save Wyoming, was a net population gainer — West Virginia, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Idaho, South Dakota, Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Nebraska and Kansas.

The move from blue to red states — almost 1,000 people every day — has been one of the greatest demographic stories in American history. If you go to states like Arizona, Florida, Tennessee and Texas these days, all you see is blue-state license plates.

Pretty much the same pattern holds true for jobs. The job gains in the red states carried by the widest margins by Trump had about twice the job-creation rate as the bluest states carried by Hillary.

Hillary mentioned GDP numbers. While it is true that the blue states of the two coasts and several of the Midwestern states are richer than the redder states of the south and mountain regions over recent decades, she failed to mention the giant transfer of wealth from Hillary to Trump states. IRS tax-return data confirm that from 2006-2016, Hillary's states lost $113.6 billion in combined wealth, whereas Trump's states gained $116.0 billion.

Don't Be Evil; Google taps NAS to Censor Science Information

Timothy Birdnow

The notoriously activist National Academy of Science, is going to vet all science material submitted to Google.

Yes, Google is going to censor anything that disagrees with the theory of anthropogenic climate change caused by carbon dioxide emissions. And no doubt it will censor other things that do not fit with the narratives of the Left.

Here is the statement by the National Academy of SCience: more...

The Dying of the Light in St. Louis

Timothy Birdnow

My brother Brian sends this to a writer at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

Dear Doug Moore,
I read your very interesting piece in the PD this morning and found it insightful and correct. I do, however, have one quibble. You say, "The St. Louis region has seen its population drop steadily since 1960, when it was ranked ninth in the US."

The fact of the matter is that St. Louis has seen its population drop steadily since 1950, when it was the eighth largest city in the country. In fact, most of the urban historians conclude that the St. Louis population topped out at nearly 870,000 citizens in the late 1940s. The beginning of the suburban migration dropped the city population to 856,000 in 1950, and that number fell to 750,000 in 1960. As far as our national ranking, St. Louis was the nation's fourth largest city from 1890-1920, when we fell to sixth behind Cleveland, and the booming Motor City, Detroit.

So, St. Louis has seen a nearly seventy-year population decline, and a nearly century long decline in national status among our nation's leading cities. A depressing tale, to be sure, but sometimes the truth hurts, doesn't it!

Best Regards,
Brian E. Birdnow

I would add one important point; the decline in St. Louis began shortly after the Democrats tookk permanent control of the city. The last Republican mayor of St. Louis was Aloys P. Kaufman, who ended his term in 1949. (By the way, I attended high school with his grandson, who is a fan of this website.)

Lib Critics Are Disgusted With St. Paul Film, Say Its ‘Boring’ and ‘Pious’

By Corinne Weaver | March 23, 2018

Christian films risk being torn to shreds by the secular Hollywood media.
While the critics were dismayed at the surprisingly popular I Can Only Imagine last week, this week they find themselves being put to sleep by the "boring” Paul, Apostle of Christ film, released on March 23. While Christian critics are willing to give the film its chance, critics at Variety are disappointed that the film isn’t a Marvel movie.

Peter Debruge at Variety wrote, "In a world that idolizes DC and Marvel superheroes...Paul’s power is of a less spectacular sort.” The film apparently also felt like "just a notch above a community Christmas pageant,” but only because it had Jim Caviezel in it, an actor the critic recognized.

In fact, the film could have been construed as offensive, if one chooses to believe Variety, since it does not "suggest tolerance of religions other than Christianity.” Debruge seemed to also be perturbed by the fact that the film didn’t focus on the "sensationalistic” persecutions of the Christians in Nero’s time.

Tom Harris article: A billion-dollar plan no one should follow

Paul Driessen

The Ontario government has just presented its latest plan for fighting climate change – by imposing a tax on what it calls "carbon pollution.” But as International Climate Science Coalition executive director Tom Harris points out, the supposed culprit is not carbon; it’s carbon dioxide or CO2. Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant; it’s the miracle molecule that enables plants to grow, and without which most life on Earth would cease to exist. And it’s highly dubious that reducing CO2 will do anything to control Earth’s climate or weather, which are governed by powerful natural forces over which humans have zero control.

Ontario PremierKathleen Wynnesays Canadianchildren and grandchildren "can’t afford to lose” the "climate fight.” What they really cannot afford is billion dollar plans to "lead the world” on reducing plant food that is "greening” our planet, rolling back deserts, and enabling us to grow more food from less land.

A carbon tax is a terrible idea for Ontario – and equally bad idea for any city, county or country that is contemplating a similar taxation system, Harris accurately concludes.

Moment of Reckoning for the “Conservative Media”

Daren Jonescu

The sham that is the Trump presidency has served its primary function quite well — it has decimated the grassroots conservative movement at the moment when that movement seemed to be gaining enough traction to have some effect as a counterforce to America’s progressive transformation. When I say "decimated,” I mean "crushed,” as Mitch McConnell promised to do to the Tea Party in 2014, back when he was challenged in the Kentucky primary by Matt Bevin — until a Karl Rove front group falsely calling itself Kentuckians for Strong Leadership leapt to McConnell’s defense. As I have noted before, one of the major "Kentuckian” donors in that pro-McConnell, anti-constitutionalist PAC was Donald J. Trump. more...
