Winds of Civil War

This from Anthony Watts:

I'm convinced, that come this November, after the election, no matter the outcome, a civil war will start.

This is the turning point for our Republic. We either defend it, or we capitulate it. I'm going to be on the side of defending it.

This essay from Bill O'Reilly says a lot about the state of affairs.

1 Buy ammo. And make sure you can shoot straight.

2 Defend it? Defend what? What part of it is left that is worth defending? It needs to be burned to the ground so that we can start over. Probably won't do it right this time either, but it has to be rebuile from the ground up. There is already nothing left on which to rebuild.

And I think he's right that the November elections will be the trigger. There has been too much talk of the illegetimate election in 2016, and of how Democrats will "steal" the 2020 election. Trump wins and the Democrats will go nuts. Republicans have been pretty supine so far, but if Democrats win in November...

3 I need to take my gun to a gunsmith and make sure I have plenty of ammo, Dana.

4 I agree Bill; the Republic is unreformable at this point. O'Reilly never was all that much of an out-of-the-box thinker. What will come of a violent civil war is anyone's guess, but history suggests nothing good, so I see why he wants to save a shred of the old America. I don't think it is possible anymore; the Progressive/Left hate us and wish us gone from this world, and they are utterly determined, and they control the dissemination of information. It won't end well. But I see no way to heal the breach at this point.

5 Well then, do it NOW, Tim. Don't wait till your Democrat legislature pulls a fast one on you and suddenly you can't take your weapons out of your house. DO IT NOW!

6 Bill, just how the hell do you suggest doing it? You sound like you're deep in a fantasy. Or have been reading Heinlein or somebody like that. Or, more to the point, you're advocating exactly what the left is proposing.

Sorry, my friend, but I think you need to go out and come in again. . .
