Why Is New York so More heavily Infected than Florida

Timothy Birdnow

Joe Bastardi asked this question on Facebook:

Todays Point to Ponder Florida has 21 million people and a large elderly population. New York 19 million, yet why the massive difference in COVID 19 cases and deaths? The retirement settlement of the Villages has had no cases. What can we learn, Is it luck? Is it the warmer weather? Given over 50% of the cases in SE FLA were seeded from travel from NY, what does this mean. At the very least, why is the media trashing the governor of Florida? See statistics below:

A few comments came in theorizing it was increased vitamin D due to the extra sunshine - a possibility, but one that I don't think gets to the heart of the matter. Others suggest (more on the money) that it is the greater population density and use of communal services i.e. subways and the like. Better. But I don't think for a minute we can take the politics out of this.

I replied:

Don't dismiss the notion that this is an artifact of how they count COVID infection rates and determine causes of death. I suspect New York has grossly inflated their numbers, by claiming deaths that were not caused by the virus but associated with it, and probably inflating their numbers by diagnosing it without an actual confirmation. That goes directly back to the politics of New York v. Florida. Liberals love being victims, and they like to manipulate reality, and they know a higher case rate means more money from Uncle Sam and more money they can squeeze out of their own citizens. Also, there were government policies at work, like Gov. Cuomo ordering nursing homes to take in people known to be infected with Cornoavirus and then having an explosion of infections in those homes. Again, it comes down to governmental policy. I find it useful to look at the top infected areas in the country; they are Democratic strongholds. Their collectivist attitudes and clustering vision (they want everyone packed in tight as is encouraged by U.N. Agenda 30) has primed their areas for just such an epidemic.

1  There is also a large Chinese population in New York. There was a story about a few Chinese people licking door knobs. Of course nobody would report that cause of racism. We know that China kept sending its people from Wuhan to Italy after they discovered the outbreak. Interesting to see how many Chinese from Wuhan made it to New York before Trump shut down air travel. That wont happen either cause racism.
