So, walls don't work?
Border chief: Wall cuts illegal crossings 80%
A 20-mile section of new border wall built near El Paso, Texas, cut illegal crossings by more than 80%, the government’s top border official told Congress on Thursday.
Mark Morgan, acting commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, said the key is not just the border wall but the entire system being built, with roads and lighting and, in some cases, multiple layers of fencing.
He said that’s giving agents more time to get to spots where breakthroughs happen, and when they can respond, they can make arrests or force people to retreat back into Mexico.
The Roman Emperor Hadrian built a wall between Roman-held territory in Britain and the barbaric Scotland to keep out marauding savages. He - and the Romans in general - was not a stupid man and he wouldn't waste money for something that did not work. There was plenty of precedent for this. The Chinese built an enormous wall to keep barbarians out. it worked pretty well, too. Attila and his Hun horde tried to invade China but couldn't find a way around the wall, so they turned west and invaded Rome instead. Had Rome had a big wall from Siberia to the Black Sea perhaps the Huns wouldn't have invaded there, either.
If you think walls don't work try telling that to prisoners in any penitentiary and see what their response is. Or ask someone on a military base.
This argument is stupid beyond words.
