Thoughts on the Austin Mad Bomber

Timothy Birdnow

Here are a few thoughts on the Austin bomber in no particular order.

First, this youth proves a point I have been making for some time, namely, that if someone wants to murder a bunch of school children there are more efficient ways to go about it than using a gun. After Parkland we were told ad nauseum that we have to ban firearms, and yet this kid could well have murdered countless children had he targeted schools rather than random individuals. And he could have done it all without a gun. We are very fortunate that he either didn't think to do that or chose not to. Any would-be school shooter could make explosives and walk right into a school to deliver the bomb. It is easy, and, as this case shows, it can be done with household items. Why spend hundreds of dollars on guns and ammo when you can spend maybe thirty bucks and take out a lot more people? This bomber should illustrate the folly of gun control as a way of stopping mass killings - but it will be a lesson completely ignored by our good Progressive friends.

Second, what is up with this?

"Jay Schulze, who lives in Pflugerville, said he was jogging Tuesday night when he was stopped by police and asked about the bombings. He said police flew drones over Conditt’s home for about six hours between Tuesday evening and early Wednesday morning.

Schulze described the home as "a weird house with a lot of people coming and going” and a bit rundown."

End excerpt.

That MAY be a young person's party house, but it rather sounds to me like a SAFE HOUSE. And, it is said, the kid had two roommates; how is it they let him slide on rent (he was unemployed) while building bombs. Oh, and didn't anyone notice their creepy roommate seemed to be doing some odd things?

Police say they found bomb making materials all over the kid's house. HUH?!

Then there's the matter of the little lovechild's blog.

It contains just five posts, and apparently was a class assignment from back in 2012 - six years ago. The liberals are trying to make hay with this, saying he was a "conservative Christian" and plugging this into the narrative of the Southern poverty Law Center that "right wing" terrorism is running rampant and it's the fault of Donald Trump. But this blog says little, and I could have written it in under an hour. I don't think we can make any sort of judgement on what he believed based on this.

And ironically there is a post calling for NOT releasing a terrorist from Gitmo. Strange that someone who is tough on terrorism would become a terrorist in his own right.

But the left is sure trying to make hay with this. I had a bit of an argument at Gateway Pundit with some troll who basically was arguing this kid was a righ winger. I pointed out that Hillary Clinton was a "right winger" too when she was in high school, working for Barry Goldwater, and that by the time she graduated college she was a flaming radical leftist. My interlocutor mumbled about how "it took Hillary a long time to turn" which is nonsense; it took Hillary just a couple of years to be seduced by the Dark Side. Goldwater ran in 1964 and Hillary started at Wellesley in 1965. She turned into a radical in those four years. Part of her conversion was at the hands of a minister who acted as counselor to a Methodist youth group she was a member of, and she probably would have turned left regardless of Wellesley. There is no reason whatsoever to believe the mad bomber held any strong conservative beliefs - especially given he admits he knows little in his own blog and that his opinions were hardly set in stone. In fact, the blog is entitled "Defining my Stance" and it's quite clear he didn't have one, by and large.

In the comments section of the post about terrorists, a recntly added pair of comments:

Interesting that God is mentioned nowhere in this "Radical Christian" guy's ranting blog...

End

Indeed, there is no mention of religioun or Christianity anywhere on the blog. It's a HUGE stretch to claim he was some fundamentalist, without any evidence to bolster it.

And in fact, here is his profile:

Gender MALE
Location Pflugerville, TX, United States
Introduction My name is Mark Conditt. I enjoy cycling, parkour, tennis, reading, and listening to music. I am not that politically inclined. I view myself as a conservative, but I don't think I have enough information to defend my stance as well as it should be defended. The reasons I am taking this class is because I want to understand the US government, and I hope that it will help me clarify my stance, and then defend it.

End

Doesn't sound like an ideologue to me. And the lack of a manifesto speaks volumes; if this guy had a political or racial reason to do this he would have had a manifesto. He would want it known why he did it.

I am particularly interested in the fact that the authorities are playing this so close to their vests, just as they did with the Las Vegas shooter. It's as if they don't want something to come out. Normally you can't shut them up, what with national attention and all.

I think that either we are going to have some blockbuster revelations soon or this thing will disappear like the Vegas shooting. The one thing I don't expect is for information to trickle out, information showing a normal person with emotional problems. I think we are only seeing the tip of an iceberg here.
