I’m now beginning to more fully understand our major weather systems and how they affect water distribution. The effects of water in our atmosphere was completely botched in the efforts by Svente Arrhenius (1896) and Gilbert Plass (1956).
The La Niña is observed by the warming of waters in the western Pacific. The prevailing east to west winds provide sustained monsoons across Southeast Asia. However, as this moisture approaches the southern slopes of the Himalayas, it condenses and just flows back down the Indus and Ganges Rivers into the Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean. Under El Niño conditions, the Pacific jet stream is drawn further south to blow along the latitudes where hurricanes form. The tops of tropical storms are sheared off and hurricanes are suppressed. The opposite is true under La Niña conditions.
With El Niño conditions, the warming of the eastern Pacific spreads moisture across the Americas, Africa, and Europe. The monsoons of Southeast Asia and India dry up.
The Tonga-Hunga submarine volcano on Jan. 15, 2022 disrupted everything and moisture was flung around the globe.
Very definitely, the European theater, 1944 to 1945, was fought under strong El Niño conditions. The cold rains of D-Day. The Battle of the Bulge and the Russian front.
