The Morality of a Wall

Timothy Birdnow

In my recnt article at American Thinker I wrote about the morality of building a wall (despite what Nancy Pelosi thinks) and how G-D blessed His prophet Nehemiah for doing that very thing - and how Nehemiah met with many of the same difficulties and opposition that Trump is facing today.

For those of you who are not convinced that walls and fences are moral, or think that the New Testament somehow simply abrogates Nehemiah, I give you the words of Jesus in John 10:1

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

So, those who try to climb the wall to get into America illegally are thieves and robbers. Jesus said it, not me.

Here are a few other Passages That are worth pondering that pertain to our current alien invasion :

Joel 2:9
They storm the city; they run along the wall; they climb into houses, entering through windows like thieves.

Isaiah 56:10-12 His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber…

Thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks?

Here's more:

Amos 7:1

When I would heal Israel, The iniquity of Ephraim is uncovered, And the evil deeds of Samaria, For they deal falsely; The thief enters in, Bandits raid outside,

2 Chronicles 17:1-19

Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place and strengthened himself against Israel. He placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had captured. The Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David.

Revelation 21:12

It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were inscribed

Micah 7:11

A day for the building of your walls! In that day the boundary shall be far extended.

end quotes.

Now, none of this specifically says a wall is necessary to keep people out of Israel proper, but it is clear walls are for the defense of the nation. And the Israelites had very specific rules governing who could be there and how they had to be treated - and who could live there permanently. Here is an excellent article explaining how, yes indeed, Israel maintained territorial integrity and that this abuse of the Bible to demand open borders is a gross distortion of Scripture.

The author - Dr. James K. Hoffmeister, states:

Secondly, what about the "stranger” or "alien”? The Bible is not "a living breathing document” that can mean whatever you want it to say. This question must be answered contextually and based on what the key words meant when they were written before we apply what that might mean in our own times. The most significant Hebrew word for our discussion is ger, translated variously in English versions, which creates some confusion, as "stranger” (KJV, NASB, JB), "sojourner” (RSV, ESV), "alien” (NEB, NIV, NJB, NRSV), and "foreigner” (TNIV, NLT). It occurs more than 80 times as a noun and an equal number as a verb (gwr), which typically means "to sojourn” or "live as an alien.” The problem with more recent English translations (e.g. TNIV and NLT) is that they use "foreigner” for ger, which is imprecise and misleading because there are other Hebrew terms for "foreigner,” namely nekhar and zar. The distinction between these two terms and ger is that while all three are foreigners who might enter another country, the ger had obtained legal status.

End excerpt.

He goes on to delineate how the Israelites asked permission of no less a personage than Pharoah to "sojourn" in Egypt - not permanently colonize there. And they had to be given permission first.

By the by, he points out that in Deuteronomy 24:14-15 the Ger (alien sojourner) was to be paid the same as the native worker - something not being done in America. A big selling point for open borders is that you can get cheaper labor this way; this is a violation of the command given the Israelites.

He further states:

In a sense, the ger were not just aliens to whom social and legal protections were offered, but were also considered converts, and thus could participate in the religious life of the community, e.g. celebrate Passover (Exodus 12:13) and observe Yom Kippur, the day of atonement (Leviticus 16:29-30). They were, moreover, expected to keep dietary and holiness laws (Leviticus 17:8-9 & 10-12). It is well known that within Israelite society, money was not to be lent with interest, but one could loan at interest to a foreigner (nekhar). These passages from the Law make plain that aliens or strangers received all the benefits and protection of a citizen, whereas the foreigner (nekhar) did not. It is wrong, therefore, to confuse these two categories of foreigners and then to use passages regarding the ger as if they were relevant to illegal immigrants of today.

End excerpt.

So, the alien had to adopt the dominant culture. We USED to require that here in America; no more. America is now the second largest Spanish speaking country on Earth. We are no longer a nation, but an empire rapidly becoming a mirror of the old Austro-Hungarian state. Such countries have to be held together by force, since the people have so little in common.

The "you were a stranger in a strange land too" argument falls of it's own weight when looked at from an informed Biblical perspective. It is a twisting of the Word of God.

Sadly, many Christians will fall for it.

God made the nations. It was He who broke up the kingdom of Nimrod at the Tower of Babel. It was He who separated the children of Noah. He separated out Abraham and Abraham's children from the other nations. He never intended world government by human beings, nor endless mixing of alien peoples. That way leads to hatred, war, bloodshed - just look at the Balkans. Or India. Or the Caucasus. Or Palestine.

And a nation has the right to maintain her territorial integrity, and to defend the People. We are now being told we have no such right, and must allow ourselves to commit cultural and political suicide. That is wrong.

Pope Francis needs to actually read his Bible before spouting off on "refugees" and "immigrants".

One final thought; God used alien invasions to punish Israel for sinning. Is this any different? America has expelled God from public life, and now exalts all manner of sexual sins and immoral conduct. And, as Yahweh warned the Israelites when they were about to enter the land of Canaan, if they sinned in the same manner as the Canaanites the land would "vomit you out" in the same fashion.

I fear our land is in dire need of spiritual Pepto-Bismol.
