The IRS is on the move again

Dana Mathewson

The IRS has been re-weaponized by the Biden Administration and is stepping out of bounds again. John Hinderaker writes in Power Line:

No sooner have the Democrats retaken the White House than the IRS again feels free to use its power to advance partisan interests. This actually happened in May, but it is just now hitting the news: the IRS denied 501(c)(3) nonprofit status to an organization called Christians Engaged. The IRS explained that Christian doctrines are Republican:

You also educate believers on issues that are central to their belief in the Bible as the inerrant M. [The writer of the letter weirdly encodes certain words and phrases, and provides a key. M means "word of God.”] You educate Christians in areas where they can be instrumental as in areas of the sanctity of life, the definition of marriage, biblical justice, laws vs. lawlessness, freedom of speech, religious liberty, government and business ethics, human trafficking, fiscal responsibility in government budgeting, defense, borders and immigration, U.S. and Israel relations.

How Republican can you get?

You are serving the private interests of the D party [D means Republican] more than incidentally in contravention to Treas. Reg. Section 1.501(c)(3)-1(d)1(ii) as well as serving a substantial nonexempt private purpose. For example, you educate Christians on what the bible says in areas where they can be instrumental including the areas of sanctity of life, the definition of marriage, biblical justice, freedom of speech, defense, and borders and immigration, U.S. and Israel relations. The bible teachings are typically affiliated with the D party [Republican] and candidates. This disqualifies you from exemption under IRC Section 501(c)(3).

It is quite remarkable to see an agency of the federal government publicly take the position that freedom of speech and national defense are Republican values. That is what I always thought, but I didn’t expect the IRS to admit it.

There's more here and I urge you to read it: https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2021/06/the-irs-is-at-it-again.php

Clearly, things are getting way out of hand when a government agency has this kind of power.

3 We knew this would happen. They are engaged in a full-court press and the IRS is just another tool of their oppression. It's sad though.

And with the media simply ignoring it we are going to have it happen and nobody will say a peep.

Where is the damned GOP?

4 I think you know the answer to your own question. They're doing, for the most part, the same thing they've done for years: sitting around with their heads up their an... butts. It's beyond frustrating to keep voting for them, but there's no alternative.

5 Ive had this argument a lot over the last couple of years, but we've been trying to get the GOP to take action as long as I've been alive and with little luck. The RINO wing owns the party. We really do need to walk out en masse and start our own party.

Yes, it will hand government to the Democrats (which I believe is why the balance of power is not lopsided; the Democrats don't want the GOP to disappear as a force any more than do the Republicans as they need it close to stoke up fear and keep money flowing.)  Some wild card needs to be introduced to American politics.

While Britain is a very different place than the U.S.  I would point to the success of UKIP. Where are the older parties in Britain now? Labor is a minority party, and there is no Liberal party at all. The Tories are far from power. UKIP - whose sole reason for existing was getting Britain out of the E.U. now runs things.

I think despite all the doomsday warnings about a third party it might just be feasible. Certainly it's preferable to the status quo.

Frankly, it's now either go to hell fast or slow. a hail mary pass may be in order.
