Ted Cruz gets haircut at Dallas salon where owner was jailed

Ted Cruz just got mentioned favorably in a recent post at the Aviary. Well, here's another reason to speak highly of him.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, arrived Friday for his first haircut in three months at Salon à la Mode, one day after owner Shelley Luther was released from jail for defying the state’s coronavirus restrictions.

Cruz visited on the first day salons were legally allowed to open, saying he was proud to support Luther.

Luther, crying, thanked Cruz for his support. "When people reach out with true authenticity, it’s huge,” the salon owner said. Both wore masks throughout the visit.

"It’s a nice gesture. His family actually called my boyfriend and prayed for him for 20 minutes while I was in jail. To me that’s not political… that’s just really nice people reaching out and making sure that our family is OK,” Luther told CBS 11 News.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin also paid a visit to the salon in a show of support on Wednesday, while Luther was still in jail.

Texas lawmakers rushed to Luther’s defense after she was ordered to serve seven days’ jail time, reportedly one for each of the days her salon was open prior to the state loosening lockdown restrictions.

Luther was given three choices by the judge: she could offer an apology for selfishness, pay a fine and shutdown until Friday, or serve jail time. Luther refused to apologize.

That judge has a black eye now and, I hope, for a long time. Meanwhile, the rest of this article is here: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ted-cruz-gets-haircut-at-dallas-salon-where-owner-was-jailed

1 Good for Cruz!  I'm pleased to see he has that kind of integrity. I supported him during the primaries and think he would have made a fine President. Maybe he's not finished yet?

2 We may see him in the running again. I don't think he's done anything in the last four years that would hurt his chances. But he's a hard guy to warm up to; that's why he didn't make it last time. And last time the Right really needed, well, a Raised Right Finger to wave at the Establishment, and Trump did that better than anybody else. Of course, at that time Cruz was part of the Establishment.

Let's see what the world looks like in 2024. I think Ted would make a very good President. But whether he'd want to let himself be put through the wringer is another matter.
