1 That would certainly be a good example. And if you ask me (I know you didn't) it's time to put this whole "hate crimes" idea out to pasture once and for all. Any "hate crime" that I've ever read about only constitutes a crime of some sort, and is already illegal. But of course, the Left can't live without all these means of pandering to their black voters -- who are starting to wake up, it seems. Smollett's sycophants seem to have suddenly gone on vacay...

2 The left claims to want equallity but actually want "equity" which is a whole different breed of cat. Hate crimes make people unequal. Some - the protected class - are more equal than others.

If there was ever anything less equal than a hate crime I sure can't think of it.

But it divides us, and it empowers those who support the "Progressives" so it's just grand. "Equity" is discriminatory and racist. It assumes "people of color" are childlike and need protection.

5 It just may be that this sort of thing has about run its course, like the Boy Who Cried Wolf. I see that they are considering canning Kim Foxx. Which means cases like this will at least be treated seriously in That Toddlin' Town, and perhaps elsewhere. It may get to where "hate crimes victims" will not be believed automatically. It worked this time -- he was convicted by a jury of his peers (not that HE'D consider them his peers, but...). We can hope, at least.
