Portugal is one of the poorest country in the European Union. It is so poor that refugees from Syria and other places refuse to go there. I suppose if you have limited energy needs (and wealth is a function of energy) you can get away with it but I hardly think it worth it. Supplying energy to people who can't afford to use it is no great trick.
In April of 2023 Portugal imported 1,406,0000 GWH of electricity from the rest of Europe. So how did these wind turbines suddenly change everything in just eight months?
It has averaged 240,000 GWH per month between Jan. 2010 and October 2023.
Doesn't this sudden success strike anyone else as odd?
Portugal just ran on 100% renewables for six days in a row

I suspect this means they simply ignored how much Portugal imported and are speaking about domestically produced energy. But even if not it still is no major accomplishment to power a country where people still use carts and horses for transportation.
