We feel the warmth of solar radiation on our faces every day. We experience the loss of such warmth every night. We perceive gravity as a constant and think of convection only in passing. How long has man understood barometric pressure and the behavior of the psychometric chart.

Newtonian physics tells that everything exists at rectilinear coordinates and time is the same everywhere. Einsteinian physics tells us that space curves and time is not constant.

The important stuff is always hidden, just over the horizon. And so Science is a never-ending path.

Meet gravity. Between major celestial bodies it is not constant and it is more powerful than we can know.

Washington University in St.Louis, MO has a pretty fair Geoscience program. I’ve seen some of their studies in Antarctica. Their researchers described the bottom of the Bentley Subglacial trench as a "magma blowtorch”.

Tectonic motion is not driven by convection and radiation matters for naught.
