Pipefitters Union Leader upset that Biden kept his promise to stop the Keystone Pipeline

Jack Kemp

More details come out about the Biden campaign promise and his decision to stop the Keystone Pipeline. The union president apparently thought that "Lunch Bucket Joe from Scranton was still the Joe Biden working model. But Lunch Bucket Joe has been updated to a new Version 2.0, namely "China and Hunter Joe" who make talk nostalgically about working union men and women but basically acts as if he has decided he now really cares mostly about working union men and women in China.

That leads to this.....

Union leader who endorsed Biden turns against him

Ironically, noted PJ Media's Matt Margolis, McManus and the UA endorsed Biden because the then-candidate supposedly had a reputation for standing with unions and creating jobs.

"This endorsement is about putting UA members to work and fighting for fair wages and good benefits. Under a Biden Administration, that's exactly what we'll get," said McManus at the time.

Biden, he said, "will be a fierce ally to our UA Brothers and Sisters in the White House."

But even more troubling, Margolis pointed out, is the fact that the union's endorsement came after Biden's campaign had already declared his intention to kill the pipeline if elected.

In a May 2020 statement, Biden policy director Stef Feldman said Biden "strongly opposed the Keystone pipeline in the last administration, stood alongside President Obama and Secretary Kerry to reject it in 2015."

Feldman said Biden would "proudly stand in the Roosevelt Room again as President and stop it for good by rescinding the Keystone XL pipeline permit."

To paraphrase Bill Clinton, it depends on the fair meaning of the word "fair."

And then we have this from the same article...

BEGIN QUOTE

Last week, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a statement expressing his disappointment with Biden for revoking the pipeline permit while Alberta Premier Jason Kenney said he was "deeply disturbed" and threatened legal action.

Kenney noted that the U.S. is Canada's most important ally and trading partner.

"That's not how you treat a friend and ally," the provincial leader said in a statement posted on Twitter.

END QUOTE

Prime Minister Trudeau also mouthed some standard liberal comment about "climate change," formerly called Global Warming. But he emphasized his concerns about the effect of the loss of cold, hard cash lost from Canada's economy. I believe that PM Trudeau, although a standard politician, knows that a non-petroleum economy is an economy without plastics - and an economy that cannot be created by governments overnight or perhaps ever.

Three old sayings come to mind.

The first is the old saying, quoted by Marxists, states "To make an omelet, one must break some eggs"

The second dates from Roman Times, states "There is no honor among thieves."

And the last one is a quote from Oscar Wilde, paraphrased by veteran of the military and both President Bushes' administrations, the late Brent Scowcroft, who stated, "In politics, a friend is someone who stabs you in the front."

1 Let me get this straight: they're surprised that their candidate actually did what he said he'd do, for a change, and that they are actually fu... excuse me, screwed. I'd laugh out loud except that I am really, truly sorry to see this happen. Those people should not have been fu... excuse me, screwed. But they should have known better.

2 Thanks Jack!  Gee; whoda thunk Biden would  cancel the Keystone XL after he spent his whole campaign promising to cancel the Keystone XL? Labor union types can be some of the stupidest people on God's green Earth.

3 I guess they thought Biden was just saying that to get the radicals on his side Dana. But why would Biden do that? He's not in charge, after all; he barely knows where he is at any point in time.
